Navigator 5.028The Core of Our Sustainability ExcellenceUrmi Group remains strongly committed to meeting the environmental expectations of both national and global stakeholders, ensuring that compliance is the foundation of our sustainability journey. In 2024, we adhered to all relevant national laws and regulations, including the Bangladesh Environment Conservation Act and directives of the Department of Environment, while aligning with international standards such as ZDHC MRSL, REACH, and the Higg FEM framework. Guided by GRI Standards, o u r e n v i r o n m e n t a l compliance approach covers emissions control, wastewater management, chemical safety, energy efficiency, and waste reduction. Beyond fulfilling legal requirements, we have developed a comprehensive Environmental Management System that integrates policy, monitoring, and continuous improvement across all units. This system enables us to implement cleaner production practices, conserve natural resources, and proactively address climate risks. By embedding accountability and sustainability into our operations, Urmi Group not only safeguards compliance but also creates long-term value, building trust with our people, communities, and global partners.
Navigator 5.029Why Compliance MattersThe textile industry relies heavily on water, energy, and chemicals, which carry significant environmental footprints. For Urmi Group, compliance is not simply about meeting rules but about ensuring accountability to those who depend on us. Our 2024 materiality assessment showed that local communities and regulators expect protection of ecosystems and health, while international buyers demand assurance of sustainable practices. Increasingly, global stakeholders require alignment with evolving frameworks such as the EU Green Deal, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and CSDDD, which emphasize transparency and responsible sourcing.Meeting these expectations safeguards nearby canals and biodiversity, ensures community well-being, and builds buyer confidence in our supply chain practices. For Urmi Group, compliance is therefore more than a regulatory necessity—it underpins competitiveness, social license to operate, and resilience in global markets. By embedding it into strategy, we contribute to both Bangladesh’s environmental priorities and international sustainability goals.Urmi Group invested USD 847,431 in environmental upgrades, including ETPs, air monitoring, and EMS. We recycled 321 tonnes of fabric waste and partnered with LafargeHolcim Bangladesh to responsibly co-process ETP sludge. Our 4,000 m³/day biological ETP and clean-energy projects operated with zero non-conformances, ensuring compliance with national and global standards. Through the UrmiToru initiative, we planted 33,000 trees across 23 districts, sequestering 330 tCO2, and greened 130 rural schools. Transparency was upheld through regular audits, active collaboration with global buyers, and the publication of our 5th Sustainability Report, reaffirming our accountability under the Bangladesh Environmental Conservation Act and global frameworks.SUSTAINABILITY HIGHLIGHTS“Environmental compliance is not a box to check- it is who we are.”Performance 2024Zero instances of non-compliance with environmental laws and regulationsNo fines, sanctions, or disputes recordedAll chemical management aligned with ZDHC standards; emissions and wastewater discharged well within regulatory limitsTowards 2025New programs for circularity and emissionsStronger GRI alignment for clear reportingExpand EMS coverage to include advanced predictive monitoringFurther strengthen community engagement on water and air qualityEnvironmental Compliance at Urmi Group drives rigorous adherence to national and international environmental regulations, ensuring responsible management of resources, safeguarding ecosystems, reducing pollution, and promoting sustainable practices across all operations and supply chains.Environmental Compliance: Ensured regulatory adherence and transparency.Decarbonization: Implemented global frameworks to reduce GHG emissions.Air Emission: Monitored and controlled air pollutants across operations.CMS: Ensured ZDHC compliance and chemical safety standards.Water & Wastewater: Managed water usage and treated wastewater responsibly.Circularity: Reduced waste and enhanced supplier circularity initiatives.COMMITTED TO ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDSIntroduction Governance Planet People Process Finance

Previously, manual processes caused inefficiencies, including unnecessary trips, high idle time, and limited visibility on fuel use. Automating vehicle requisition has improved fleet utilization, reduced redundant movements, and optimized routing. This transformation enhances operational efficiency and supports Scope-3 emission reduction under the SBTi framework. Optimized allocation lowers fuel consumption and associated carbon emissions. Navigator 5.034Fakhruddin Textile Mills LimitedIn 2022, (FTML) took a decisive step toward sustainability with Phase 1 of its rooftop solar deployment. By installing 2.517 MWp of photovoltaic capacity atop its production facilities, FTML now generates approximately 2,370 MWh of clean electricity each year. This output translates into a reduction of some 1,469.5 tonnes of CO2 annually.Building on that success, FTML will initiate Phase 2 in early 2025, adding a further 0.407 MWp of highefficiency panels. Once fully commissioned, this expansion is projected to produce an additional 468.8 MWh per annum, offsetting another 290.6 tonnes of CO2emissions.Together, the two phases bring FTML’s total rooftop capacity to 2.924 MWp, yielding nearly 2,839 MWh of solar energy and cutting roughly 1,760 tonnes of greenhouse gases every year. FTML’s phased approach demonstrates how targeted investments in renewable technology can deliver substantial environmental benefits while reinforcing the company’s commitment to responsible, future-focused manufacturing.OUR ROOFTOP SOLAR2024 Clean Energy at a GlanceUrmi Group is on track to expand its solar PV capacity to 8.18 MWp by 2027, targeting an annual CO₂ saving of 4,031 tons.Current Capacity3.3MWp Clean power9,582GJ Carbon Reduction1,650tco2 JOURNEY

The success sparked ambition. By 2025, the company unveiled plans to scale up dramatically: 403 KWp of solar panels would soon blanket its rooftops, harnessing sunlight to power lighting and machineries. This bold leap aims to generate 533,018 KWh annually, slashing 330.471 tons of CO2 for a year.UHM LimitedIn 2017, Phase 1 of its rooftop solar, installing solar photovoltaic modules to achieve 255 KWp of capacity. This system delivers an annual average of 204,713 KWh of clean electricity and reduces CO2emissions by approximately 127 tonnes each year.By the end of 2024, Phase 2 further elevated UHM’s renewable output with 580 W panels, boosting capacity by 563 KWp. Estimated to generate an additional 639,919 KWh per year, this expansion cuts around 397 tonnes of CO2 annually.Collectively, UHM’s 818 KWp rooftop array now displaces over 523 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. Beyond the immediate energy savings, the company’s decade-long investment underscores its strategic commitment to sustainable operations and demonstrates how targeted upgrades can deliver both environmental and operational benefits.Introduction Governance Planet People Process Finance
Navigator 5.036OFFSETTING CARBONLaunched on World Environment Day 2024, UrmiToru aims to plant 100,000 trees across Bangladesh to fight climate change and enhance biodiversity. In partnership with AgroSAL, over 33,000 trees have already been planted in 130 schools, graveyards, and communities in 23+ districts. Students are actively engaged through tree care training, promoting environmental awareness. Ecofriendly seed pens and water filters have been distributed to schools, encouraging sustainability and clean water access. All trees are geo-tagged to monitor growth and are expected to sequester 330 metric tons of CO2.
