A big welcome to our new Area Managers Darran Hobbs, Ryan McHenry, Andy Nicholson, and Taiwo Fakolujo, who have recently joined us across the UK. Glenn Hellier joined our Sales team as our new Business Development Manager in Wales. Our Finance Team have welcomed two new members. Akib Vail joins us as our Assistant Management Accountant and Nicola Reed joins the team as our new Group Credit Control Manager. EXCEPTIONAL PEOPLE WELL DONE SARAH! A big Shoutout to our Head of Commercial Development, Sarah Baugh, who recently attended the Outstanding Security Performance Awards after being shortlisted in the Outstanding Female Security Professional category. Tom Colman joined the team as our new Group Senior Head of Business Support. And last but by no means least, following our recent Yorkshire Cricket Club contract win, we have welcomed Aaron Grant as our new Operations Manager for our Guarding & Events division. Sarah shared “Although I was not a winner this time around, being shortlisted, especially after only a few years in the industry, is such an honour. It’s a real testament to the importance of championing social mobility and providing opportunities for talented young people to develop in our industry. These young people are our future leaders, and there’s a huge pool of untapped potential that we access and learn from. If all of our industry leaders make deliberate efforts to engage with young people, we can build a more diverse, dynamic and modern workforce.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO WORKING FOR A SECURITY COMPANY? WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO WORK AT PROFESSIONAL SECURITY? I’ve been involved in the night-time economy for most of my working life. I started running nightclubs at a young age, where managing security teams was always a key part of my role. Over time, as my passion for the nightlife industry started to fade (along with my hairline), transitioning into security felt like the natural next step. I had already worked with Professional Security as a client and had built a good relationship with the company. Moving into a security-focused role seemed like the perfect fit. WERE YOU AWARE OF THE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE IN THE INDUSTRY WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED? Not at all. I don’t think many people enter the security industry by choice—like hospitality, it still carries a stigma of not being seen as a “real job.” No child in school grows up wanting to be a security officer or manager, yet the skills needed to succeed in this industry are hugely underrated. The security sector challenges people in ways they don’t expect—it’s tough, sometimes dangerous, and often thankless. It takes real determination and drive to be successful. I truly hope that one day, people in the security industry will receive the respect they deserve. PROFESSIONAL PROGRESSION At Professional Security, we recognise progression and growth for all members of our team. As part of our Professional Progression blog series, we have been interviewing different members of our team who have progressed their careers within the industry. We are excited to share Chris Taylor’s journey with us in this months’ edition!

WHAT’S THE MOST ENJOYABLE ASPECT OF YOUR ROLE? No two days are ever the same. The BDM role pushes me out of my comfort zone, and I’m constantly learning, adapting, and improving the way I approach things. I love a challenge, and this role keeps me on my toes. But beyond that, it’s the people—especially the Door Supervisors on the ground. The first time I stepped into the boardroom, I looked at the photos of our DS teams displayed on the walls. It made me realise that every single person in those pictures has likely faced difficult and dangerous situations at some point. Many have saved lives— whether they realise it or not. And yet, they rarely receive recognition for what they do. They keep people safe every day, often without thanks. How many people in office jobs can say the same? Not many. They are everyday heroes, and I have massive respect for them. WHAT’S THE BEST CAREER ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN? I once read something that really stuck with me. A bottle of water in a shop costs £2. In a train station, it’s £3. On a train, it’s £4. In an airport, £5. On a plane, £7. Same bottle of water, same product—just a different environment. So, if you ever feel undervalued or underappreciated, maybe you’re just in the wrong place. TELL US ONE SURPRISING FACT ABOUT YOU… Most people wouldn’t guess, but I’m covered in Japanese-themed tattoos, including a full back piece. Bonus fact: I’m also good at accents and impressions—if I hear one for a short time, I can usually replicate it pretty well!

We pride ourselves on working with the best and congratulate George, Joel and Lewis on winning our Hero Recognition Award. If it weren't for their actions, these story could have ended very differently. MEET OUR LATEST HOSPITALITY HEROES! JOEL & GEORGE - BISHOPSGATE Firstly, we throw it back to December 2024 where we presented Joel and George, two outstanding members of our frontline team in London, with our Frontline Hero Recognition Awards. On Wednesday, 11th December, while on duty at Dirty Dicks (Bishopsgate - Young's Pubs venue), Joel and George encountered a critical situation where a female collapsed and became unresponsive. With their extensive experience and calm demeanour, they swiftly took control. George secured the area and called for an ambulance, while Joel administered CPR. Their quick thinking and teamwork saved her life. Joel placed her in the recovery position, ensuring she remained safe and warm until paramedics arrived.
