Beat Procrastination By
Crushing Your Fears
We tend to put things off because we fear the potential pain
that taking action brings with it. However, as you know 'there
is no gain without pain'.
Take action like a Stoic and beat procrastination by placing
your fears out in the open in an objective light. See your fears
diminish in front of your eyes as you discover the power of
FEAR Setting. Simply follow the step-by-step guide to outline
what action you are putting off and let the scales decide. If
your 'gain point' out-weighs your 'pain-point' you should take
the action swiftly and decisively. If you have more pain, then
your fears were well-founded.
Go on! Give it a try! What are you scared of?

About this bookBeat Procrastination by Crushing Your Fears
This practical workbook was inspired by the TED talk by
Tim Ferriss and the writings of Seneca. It lays out a logical
step-by-step method for making the difficult decisions in
life by considering 'the worst case' scenarios first and
working back from there. This book also lets you focus on
the 'status quo' by providing room for you to see the
hidden costs of inaction.
The key to this workbook, though, is in the 'GAIN' and
"PAIN' points that allow you to make decisions as
objectively as possible. At the left-end of both Pain and
Gain scales there is 'minimal impact' that is short-term
and reversible - the Pain or Gain does not last long and
you will get over it quickly. At the right-end there is long-
lasting maximum impact that is irreversible - the effects,
both positive or negative, will be with you for a lifetime.
By pitting your 'Pain' against your 'Gain' and letting the
scales determine your decision you are essentially
removing your subjectivity and fear from the decision
making process and going with the actions that, however
scary, will lead you to a better, more prosperous future.
About the author
Martyn Kenneth is an educator who is always seeking to
make life simpler while increasing the probability that
action will be taken by his students. He creates tools that
allow this to happen. A natural design thinker: logical and
practical, deep and collected he takes ideas from
successful individuals and turns them into worksheets,
books and activities. He is also a natural storyteller and an
authentically genuine person trying to do his best with his
lot. He has been 'scared' many times over and has learned
that (as Seneca said) things are never as bad as first
imagined.
We suffer more often in imagination
than in reality
We should project our thoughts
ahead of us at every turn and have in
mind every possible eventuality
instead of only the usual course of
events... Rehearse them in your mind:
exile, torture, war, shipwreck. All
the terms of our human lot should be
before our eyes.
- seneca -
Everyone faces up more bravely to a
thing for which he has long prepared
himself, sufferings, even, being
withstood if they have been trained
for in advance. Those who are
unprepared, on the other hand, are
panic-stricken by the most
insignificant happenings.
- Seneca -
