Azərbaycanın Ümummilli Lideri Heydər Əliyev 1939-1941-ci illərdə Azərbaycan Dövlət Neft
və Sənaye Universitetində (o zaman Azərbaycan İndustrial İnstitutu - Azİİ) təhsil alıb
Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev studied at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University
(known as Azerbaijan Industrial Institute back then) from 1939 to 1941.

“Azərbaycan dünyada ilk dəfə olaraq dənizin dərinliklərindən neft hasil edib. 50 il əvvəl Neft Daşları yaradılıb.
Bu dünyada ilk təcrübə idi. Bunu bizim Neft Akademiyasında təhsil almış yüksək ixtisaslı geoloqlar yarat-
mışdılar. Dənizin dərinliklərindən, mürəkkəb şəraitdə neft hasilatı - bizim neftçilərin əməyinin və qazan-
dıqları təcrübənin nəticəsidir. Bütün bu işlər olmasaydı, neft strategiyası da olmazdı. Buna görə də Azərbay-
canın yeni neft strategiyasının gerçəkləşdirilməsi bizim onilliklərdən indiyədək gördüyümüz işlərin nəticəsidir”.
“Azerbaijan was the first country to produce oil from the depth of sea. Neft Dashlari, a town made of platforms in
the mid of the sea, was set up 50 years ago. It was a unique experience in the world, made possible by the geologists
trained at our Oil Academy. Extracting oil from the sea-bed in complex conditions is the result of hard work and rich ex-
perience of our oilmen. Without them our oil strategy would have not been possible. Thus, implementing Azerbaijan’s
new oil strategy builds on all the work that we have been doing during decades.”

On January 17 Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University to-
gether with the Knowledge Foundation under the President of
the Republic of Azerbaijan held an awareness event for inter-
national students about the tragedy of January 20. The event
was attended by ASOIU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, As-
sociate Professor Ata Babayev, Head of the International Proj-
ects Sector at the Knowledge Foundation Rauf Hasanov, Head
of the International Relations Department at the State Com-
mittee for Work with Religious Organizations Nijat Mammadli
and international students. ASOIU Vice-Rector for Educational
Affairs, Associate Professor A. Babayev informed the international students about the struggle of the Azerbaijani people for
independence and the tragedy of January 20. Head of the International Relations Department at the State Committee for
Work with Religious Organizations N. Mammadli provided information for international students on the national freedom
movement of the Azerbaijani people, the political situation of that period and the struggle of the people. He said that hun-
dreds of innocent people, who stood to fight for the national freedom and territorial integrity, were killed as a result of gun
violence on the day of January 20. Head of the International Projects Sector at the Knowledge Foundation R. Hasanov spoke
about the heroism of our young men and women, who lost their lives during January 20 events in 1990 for the sake of their
Motherland.

State Oil and Industry University organized a book ex-
hibition titled “January 20 – Day of national mourning”
dedicated to the tragedy of January 20. The exhibition
featured books, newspapers and magazines, as well as

On January 15 Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Professor Mustafa Babanli met with the delegation
that is currently in our country to take part in the selection process of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
2018. The meeting was attended by Head of DAAD Information Center in Baku Stefanie Dufaux, professor of Ilmenau
Technical University (Germany) Kerstin Pezoldt, professor of the University of Applied Sciences Emden-Leer (Germany)
Günter Totzauer, Head of DAAD Tbilisi Office Gebhardt Reul and Head of ASOIU International Cooperation Office Jamila
Ismayilzada. At the meeting, ASOIU Rector, Professor M. Babanli hailed the course of the bilateral relations and stressed
the importance of developing the cooperation with a growing tempo. Professor M. Babanli said the cooperation with
DAAD is of particular significance for the university and emphasized the importance of the mutual exchange to provide
higher knowledge for students. He noted the special role of DAAD in involving German professors in ASOIU, organizing
student exchange and summer school, adding that it is necessary to put efforts to carry out more work in this area. German
guests expressed their intention to expand the volume of activities for the development of new projects.

Ishanguliyev treated Azerbaijan not only as a neighboring state but also

as a brother country that shares the same roots with Turkmenistan.

Ambassador M. Ishanguliyev said he was interested in the develop-

ment of the cooperation between ASOIU and Turkmen universities and

added that he will always support the involvement of students in the

university, as well as in any other areas. At the end of the meeting, the

Ambassador met with Turkmen students of ASOIU.

Azərbaycan 2017-ci il ərzində xarici ölkələrə 50,969 mln. ABŞ dol-
ları dəyərində elektrik enerjisi ixrac edib. Bu əvvəlki ilin eyni dövrü
ilə müqayisədə 22,625 mln. dollar, yaxud 79,82% (1,8 dəfə) çoxdur.
Hesabat dövründə ixrac edilmiş elektrik enerjisinin həcmində də
müsbət dinamika müşahidə edilib. Belə ki, xarici ölkələrə 1 160 196
kVt/saat elektrik enerjisi satılıb və bu, 2016-cı ilə nisbətən 513,438
mln. kVt/saat və yaxud 79,39% (1,8 dəfə) çoxdur. Qeyd edək ki,
2017-ci ildə elektrik enerjisi ixracı Azərbaycanın ümumi ixracının
0,37%-ni təşkil edib.

organized a book exhibition titled “January 20 –
Day of national mourning” dedicated to the trag-
edy of January 20. The exhibition featured books,
newspapers and magazines, as well as included
articles and photo chronicles reflecting the hero-
ism, steadfastness and patriotism of Azerbaijani
sons and daughters. The exhibition aroused great
interest in the students.

The valiant sons of the Motherland, who sacri-
ficed their lives for the sake of Azerbaijan’s free-
dom, never die. They always live in the memories
and are remembered with respect and esteem.

The Alley of Martyrs, where our patriotic sons and
daughters are buried, has become a sacred place
of oath and a chronicle of heroism for our people.
As a symbol of our freedom and independence to-
day, the Alley of Martyrs will be a source of pride
for future generations.
