PUGLIA, ITALY 149

VILLA PADRONALE EUROPE

Borgo Egnazia

Villa Padronale is the last creation of the talented and original Apulian designer Pino Brescia, a
unique place inspired by the trendy holiday houses built between the 19th and 20th centuries.
The villa is dedicated to the “Bel Vivere,” an Italian lifestyle consisting of relationships, good
food, joyful sharing, a pleasure for life, and integration with the rich and welcoming natural
surroundings. A series of patios and semi-covered terraces guarantee an outdoor life, even
during summer rains and hot sun. The decor is by local artisans, and the furnishing objects and
details tell the story of a century-old bond with local customs, making this a place of simple, yet
sheer beauty, harmonized to nature.

Located in the impressive landscape of Puglia, between ancient olive groves and the deep blue
sea, Villa Padronale is a very sophisticated accommodation. It is set on three floors and features
a wonderful private garden and grand pool. The ground floor is designed for daily activities
with comfortable spaces to eat, read or just relax near the large, arched window overlooking
the garden. The first floor has two master bedrooms and two double bedrooms, enlightened by
sea views and with access to a wonderful terrace where guests can enjoy evening drinks or a
nice breakfast. There are three more bedrooms on the lower floor, where space is designed for
entertainment, featuring a grand living area with cinema screen and home theater system.

SARDINIA, ITALY

AQUAMARE

Located in a distinguished community between the Marina di Puntaldia and the famous
Lu Impostu Beach, this hilltop, modern villa is arguably one of the most impressive luxury
properties in Sardinia. Its big, open-plan living and dining room combine with multiple outdoor
dining and lounge areas to create the perfect entertaining space for family and friends.

The property is elegantly furnished with designer furniture and impressive artwork. The villa
complex includes a huge covered outdoor dining room with a professional kitchen, spa, gym,
tennis court, two outdoor and one indoor swimming pools, as well as a private beach. A beach
house with kitchen, bathroom and changing rooms is planned for 2017.

The owner is a private businessman who has been remodeling and updating the property
since he bought it in 2008. He has now purchased all the property between Aquamare and
the beach, thus assuring complete access and privacy. In 2016, the property first became
available as a rental.

SICILY, ITALY 157

DON ARCANGELO ALL’OLMO EUROPE

Don Arcangelo all’Olmo is, quite simply, the finest property currently available for rent in Sicily.
It is a superbly finished, enchanting luxury villa in a stunning and perfectly peaceful setting
between the sea and Mount Etna. The views, the gardens, the heated pool and Jacuzzi, the
style of the house, the fittings and furnishings and the relaxed, but professional nature of the
welcome make it a hard act to beat indeed! Don Arcangelo all’Olmo is situated on the east coast
of Sicily between Taormina and Catania, with Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, rising
majestically behind and only the lush green of the surrounding lemon orchards leading down to
the crystalline blue of the sea in front.

Don Arcangelo all’Olmo dates back to the early 1700s when it was one of several farm buildings
on a wine-producing estate. At the beginning of the 19th century, it became home to the vineyard’s
winery and as such was filled to the ceiling with barrels of aging wine. Only in the 1960s did the
vines make way for the fragrant citrus groves.

The owners, Andrea and Marina, Marquis and Marquess Paterno’ Castello di San Giuliano, gave
the villa a new lease on life in the late 20th century, transforming it into a luxurious oasis for
discerning travelers.

MARBELLA, SPAIN 161

VILLA DEL MAR EUROPE

Marbella Club, Golf Resort & Spa

Villa del Mar resides in an exclusive location within the Marbella Club on the shore of the
Mediterranean Sea and in the heart of Marbella’s Golden Mile, with direct access to the beach.

Originally the home of a Marbella aristocrat who adored simplistic beauty and elegance, the
refurbishment concept was to enhance the villa with modern luxuries, but not diminish its
enchanted essence. Famed designer Jean-Pierre Martel was commissioned to lead the exuberant
project in collaboration with several top international design firms, including Christopher Guy, VG
Newtrend, Zonca, Guadarte, Belar and Menotti, Hugonet to manage the decor.

The villa is ideal for those who desire the service and amenities of the Marbella Club within the
privacy of their own villa. From arrival to departure, the experience is tailored to the guest’s
personal preferences. The amenities, activities and services are bespoke and created exclusively
for the guest’s stay. Its 66,700 square feet seamlessly blend the majestic qualities of Andalusian
architecture and amazing botanical gardens. A warm, yet contemporary interior design provides
a sense of space and elegance.

Located in the center of Costa del Sol, enclosed by Sierra Blanca and the unmistakable peak of
“La Concha,” and bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, Marbella is a “must” place to visit and
enjoy throughout the year. History, tradition and legacy — these are the three pillars that support
the origin and development of the city. But Marbella is much more than just that. Throughout
the years, the urban and touristic development of the city has turned it into the luxury travel
reference point in Costa del Sol. And Villa del Mar is the perfect place to enjoy sixteen miles of
sandy coast promenade with fantastic beaches and diverse gastronomy.

LOS CABOS, MEXICO 167

VILLA CORTEZ MEXICO

One&Only Palmilla

Commanding the choicest locale in all of Baja California, One&Only Palmilla is situated on land
that enjoys a rich and storied history dating back millions of years, when volcanic movement
and earthquakes split a 1,100-mile long finger of land off mainland Mexico. Los Cabos (Spanish
for “The Capes”) survived merchants, explorers and pirates to later welcome celebrated authors
and biologists intrigued by the rich marine life in the Sea of Cortez. The resort itself was built
in 1956 as a fifteen-room luxury hideaway by Don Abelardo Rodriguez, son of the President of
Mexico. Throughout the years, the resort has expanded.

Villa Cortez was built in 2008. Embracing the serenity and refinement of a privately owned Mexican
hacienda, Villa Cortez’s interiors feature stone patterned floors, wood-beamed ceilings, fire urns
and sconce wall lights. The villa provides expansive living space and four bedrooms with en-
suite bathrooms, along with an office, private spa and fully equipped gymnasium. There is also
a cinema seating twelve guests in opulent comfort. Making panoramic use of the idyllic location,
the living room wall retracts to connect the vast interior space to a long beachfront veranda with
an infinity pool, whirlpool, fire pits, shower, day beds and lounge. Manicured gardens adorned
with Mexican fountains and red brick barrel ceilings decorate the entryway and private terrace.
