ATTENTION NOBLES !

The regulations which follow below are taken from Imperial Shrine Law.
They were drawn up for the information of the Nobility.

POTENTATE’S APPOINTMENTS TERMINATE WITH
THE EXPIRATION OF THE ILLUSTRIOUS SIR’S TERM

For the information of the Nobility, when a Potentate's term of office
expires, all appointments made by him during his administration
terminate.

Such appointments include all appointed Officers, Potentate's Aides,
Ambassadors, Commandants of Units, members of committees and
their chairmen, and special appointees.

It has been called to the attention of Potentates many times that some
Nobles have mistakenly believed or assumed their appointments to be
permanent.

Each Potentate, when he is installed in office as chief executive of a
Temple of the Mystic Shrine, must make his own appointments including
two officers of the Divan, the First and Second Ceremonial Masters.

The Potentate has the power and authority under Imperial Shrine Law
to replace every appointee; or he may, if he believes it to be in the best
interest of the Temple, retain appointees by reappointment.

Traditionally, for the sake of efficiency, many Nobles who demonstrated
ability are continued in office by reappointment, but this is at the will
and pleasure of the incoming Potentate.

In no case is he, or can he, be bound by his predecessor. By the same
token, in no case can any Potentate bind his successor.

Courtesy requires that a Noble holding an appointed office, position or
assignment, tender his resignation to the incoming Potentate. If it is
the will and pleasure of the incoming Potentate that the Noble is to

LES AFFECTATIONS DU POTENTAT SE TERMINENT 
A L’EXPIRATION DU MANDAT DE L’ILLUSTRE SIRE

À titre d’information pour la Noblesse, lorsque le terme du Potentat en
poste arrive à échéance, toutes les affectations réalisées par ce dernier
durant son administration prennent fin.

Ces affectations incluent tous les agents désignés, les aides du potentat,
les ambassadeurs, les commandants des unités, les membres des
comités et leur président, et nominations spéciales.

À plusieurs reprises, il fut porté à l’attention des Potentats que certains
Nobles croyaient à tort ou assumaient que leurs assignations étaient
permanentes.

Chaque Potentat, lorsqu’ installé dans les fonctions de chef de la
direction d'un Temple du mystique Shrine, doit procéder à ses propres
nominations dont deux officiers du Divan, soit le premier et le second
maîtres de cérémonie.

Le Potentat a le pouvoir et l'autorité en vertu de la loi impériale Shrine
de remplacer chaque personne nommée ou il peut, pour le meilleur
intérêt du Temple, renouveler le mandat des personnes déjà en fonction.

Traditionnellement et pour des raisons d'efficacité de nombreux nobles
ayant démontré leur capacité sont reconduits dans leur fonction. Toute-
fois cela reste la prérogative du nouveau Potentat.

En aucun cas, il est ou ne peut être lié par ces prédécesseurs. De la
même manière, en aucun cas il ne peut lier aucun Potentat et ses
successeurs.

La courtoisie exige qu’un Noble détenant un poste, une position ou une
affectation remette sa démission au nouveau Potentat. Si le nouveau
Potentat désire et souhaite que le Noble poursuive dans ses fonctions,
il en sera avisé par le Potentat.

Advenant qu’un Noble ne soit pas nommé pour la nouvelle année, il doit
remettre son insigne ou son emblème au bureau du Registraire.
