Davis, FACHE Chief ExecutiveOfficer I am excited to release this edition of our “In the Know with the CEO newsletter.” This edition will continue to detail all of the great things that are happening at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest. We had a fantastic 2023 with hitting our metrics in quality, employee engagement, physician engagement, board engagement, employee turnover, etc. All of these were top performing metrics. We also met our financial goals as an organization and improved our patient experience. This newsletter will highlight the great growth projects happening including our NICU and women’s expansion, community redevelopment, and our OR/Neurosurgery expansion. All of these projects will enhance the accessibility and the technology at our facility. These projects will allow us to grow in a lot of different ways in serving our community. As always, this newsletter will highlight some details on employee engagement, including recognizing our Winner’s Circle and Most Improved departments as well as our outstanding quality metrics. We also included lots of benefit information as we start the year to encourage everyone to take advantage of our awesome benefits. Our HCA goal is to have 80% of our thrombolytic cases within 45 minutes or less, and the American Heart Association goal is to have 100% of our thrombolytic cases within 60 minutes or less. The American Heart Association also trends how quickly we give thrombolytics within a 30 minute window as well; our goal to give thrombolytics within 30 minutes is set at 50%. We have met all goals for 2023 except our 60 minute goal which is at 98%, compared to other comprehensive stroke centers (TJC) at 94%. Even though we were under target for our 60 minute goal, our stroke team worked so hard to collaborate to make great improvements to provide our patients with comprehensive stroke care.

Com p re he nsive S t roke Pe rform ance | Intervention X Goal (Min) 2023 Other TJC CSC Med ian D2Gp <90 min 83 67 Med ian D2Rp <120 min 105 97 A mechanical thrombectomy is an Thrombectomy endovascular technique to remove blood clots from the brain after an ischemic stroke. For our comprehensive stroke program, our goal to make the small incision at the groin (puncture) to begin the thrombectomy is 90 minutes or less from the time the patient arrives at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest. Our interventional radiology team did an amazing job of meeting that goal with a median door to groin puncture of 83 minutes in 2023! After the groin is punctured, the goal is to remove the clot to regain blood flow in the brain (reperfusion). The reperfusion goal is 120 minutes. In 2023, our interventional radiology team accomplished that goal with a median time of 105 minutes to provide exceptional, comprehensive care to our stroke patients! GWTG 2023
