Christmas Holiday
Since Christmas day starts at midnight, we came home from church.
Then we filled and hung stockings, finished wrapping any gifts we had forgotten
and went to bed. We got up, I put the finishing touches on our breakfast and
put it in the oven. My oldest son’s girlfriend came over before we opened our
stockings -we had one for her. In my family this is a big thing. My kids are too
old for Santa Claus, so these are the only anonymous gifts we give/get. Many
of the things in our rather large stockings are wrapped. After Stockings have
been gone through, we got dressed and had breakfast in the living room.
Breakfast was bread pudding, cranberry toast, sausage pinwheels, sausage
cheese balls, fruit salad (Ambrosia), coffee, and Bellini’s.
As we ate we opened the rest of out Christmas gifts. We go around the
room and watch as each person opens their gift so we can all ooh and ahh. This
takes a long time. We listen to Christmas music while we do this.
When all the gifts have been opened and appreciated, we tidy up a bit
and then spend the rest of the day playing with our new toys, reading our new
books, or watching our new movies. We also call distant family and talk to them
for a while.
My older son went to his girfriend’s house for Christmas dinner with her family. 19
For dinner we ate a meal of cold meats, cheeses, crackers, and salad. We hung
