ORIENTATION FOR KIFL STUDENTS VIRTUAL MEETING BETWEEN BUUIC AND THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON On 5 January 2022, BUUIC organized an orientation for Japanese students from the Kanda Institute of Foreign Language (KIFL) located in Tokyo, Japan. KIFL students are exchange students at BUUIC, and they will study online in the Spring semester. The KIFL students also plan to visit Thailand and study onsite during the Summer semester. BUUIC would like to express our appreciation to Prof. Takashi Tamura and Ms. Trinh Minh Hai. They are the KIFL coordinators who have always supported the exchange program between KIFL and BUUIC. On 18 January 2022, BUUIC organized a virtual meeting to discuss academic collaboration with Prof. Eric Brisker from the University of Akron in the US. The University of Akron is one of the top public universities in Ohio. They are focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. The BUUIC team and Prof. Eric agreed that a 2+2 program, a short-term exchange program, and research collaboration would be a great start for both schools. Both schools thought the meeting was very productive and successful. JAN 1
TRAIN THE TRAINER On 13 and 27 February 2022, BUUIC organized a training course called “Train the Trainer for Professional Trainers”. This course was offered to BUUIC instructors and staff. The training was provided by Dr. Taweewan Kamonbutr. The purpose of the course was to enhance the instructors’ and staffs’ capabilities including coaching, facilitating, and content delivery. The outcomes of this course would enable BUUIC instructors to create new public training courses and to be competent lecturers and trainers. FEB 2
THE 6TH TICC INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “NEXT NORMAL NEXT MOVE TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS” On 5 March 2022, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siwaporn Kunnapapdeelert, Assistant Dean for Research of Burapha University International College and BUUIC instructors participated in The 6th TICC International Conference “Next Normal… Next Move towards Sustainable Development Goals”. The Thailand International College Consortium was hosted by Prince of Songkla University International College Hatyai Campus (PSUIC Hatyai Campus) and Faculty of International Studies, Prince Songkla University (Phuket Campus). This event is co-hosted by Khon Kaen University International College (KKUIC), Naresuan University International College, Burapha University International College (BUUIC), Silpakorn University International College (SUIC), International College for Sustainability Studies (SWUIC), and International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University. The event was a virtual conference, where various researchers presented their research and BUUIC researchers who had a great experience and shared their professional knowledge with those in attendance. Kasemsri Ittipong, Associate Dean in Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, and team visit Mr. Tiemsak Viengsriprasert, President of The Federation of Nakhon phanom Industries and External Commitee of Nakhon Phanom University Council to consult for enhancing the collaboration among three institutions: Burapha University International College, Nakhon Phanom University, and The Federation of Nakhon phanom Industries. Prof. Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Associate Dean in Administration and Organization Development, A. Prof. Dr. Montree Yamkasikorn, Vice President in Academic and Relation Affairs and Acting Dean of International Aviation College to visit Nakhon Phanom University for academic and research collaboration. We are warmly welcomed by the Administrative team: Assist. Prof. Dr. Kajit Na Kalasin, Dean of Management Science and Information Technology, Dr. Prompassorn Chunhabunyatip, Dean of Tourism and Service Industry. Nakhon Phanom University invests enormous budget in facilities and equipments to serve both Thai and foreign students to have real experience. There are many laboratories to practice the students for enhancing their capabilities and skills for their career paths such as Airline mockup room, A320 flight simulator, IOT and Innovation Laboratory and etc.
VISITING PROFESSOR FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON, USA TRAINING ON BUUIC’S ADAPTATION IN THE TRANSITIONAL ERA On March 16, 2022, Prof. Dr. Kulthida Tuamsuk, Vice President of the BUU Council, delivered a very informative and useful training on BUUIC’s Adaptation in the Transitional Era. Transitional era has a tremendous impact on today’s lives, education, businesses, and many others. Not only the technologies, but the unexpected phenomenon such as Covid-19 also affect people’s lives in many different ways. Therefore, it is very crucial for BUUIC to understand the trends and adapt ourselves accordingly. Creating an innovative workforce and lifetime employability might be one of the next goals of BUUIC. Dr. Brisker approached BUUIC in late 2021 as he was very interested in initiating an international partnership with BUUIC. It was a great opportunity for BUUIC to welcome him and discuss future collaborations for both student and faculty mobility. The mobilities include the following.

Mr. Suraphan Teerasattchanan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PUC Group Co., Ltd., who is primarily responsible for planning, designing and developing courses, talks about this important cooperation that will lead to the development of efficient aircraft maintenance personnel and is recognized internationally. With such cooperation with We-Fly Aero Company Limited, which is an institute that organizes courses in aviation and aerospace business to focus on building personnel in aircraft maintenance technicians, trained and certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency or EASA and is also part of the development plan towards becoming a hub for the tourism industry and Logistics & Aviation, including being a “Metropolis Eastern Aviation”, the regional aviation hub. Mr. Chung, Kuo Sung, Chairman of Wefly Aero Co., Ltd., said that the profession of “Aircraft Maintenance Technician” is considered another line of work that is about to enter the same shortage as pilots. Previously, the world’s largest aerospace company estimated the demand for aircraft maintenance personnel in the next 20 years, with a global need of more than 600,000 people. Approximately 400 aircraft maintenance technicians are needed per year, but the current production is far less than the target. MAR 6
After the Covid-19 outbreak (Post-Pandemic), the world gradually began to ease international travel restrictions. The pace and alignment of Manpower development to aviation industry is extremely important. At the same time, Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College said that for the EASA Engineer Course, is a Basic Training Course Part 66 B1.1 & A1 by studying a total of 12 Modules, divided into 260 hours of theory and 540 hours of practice, a total of 800 hours, 6 hours of study per day. It takes a total of 6 months to complete the EASA Engineer Course Part 66 B1.1 & A1 and will receive a Certificate as a requisition for applying to work. It’s optional to collect another 1 year of experience to take the Aircraft Maintenance License Category A1 exam and collect another 2 years of experience to take the Aircraft Maintenance License Category B1.1 exam. In this year, the Burapha University International College will start accepting 4 training courses, 45 people per model, scheduled to open courses within the third quarter of 2022, with a target to produce aircraft maintenance personnel in the academic year 2022 to 180 people, and another 400 people in the academic year 2023. With the aim to produce at least 800 to 1,000 aircraft maintenance technicians within 3 years, we need these people to become an important force in the developing country’s economy in the aviation and logistics industry. It will also align back to EEC goal which is the engine to drive the economy through our National Strategic Plan. BUUIC WELCOMES CEVA LOGISTICS EXECUTIVE TEAM VIRTUAL MEETING BETWEEN BUUIC AND DAIKIN INDUSTRIES On 28 March 2022, Burapha University International College (BUUIC) organized a virtual meeting with Daikin Industries (Thailand) Ltd. to discuss academic collaboration. The meeting was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of BUUIC. Joining him in the meeting were Asst. Prof. Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Associate Dean in Administration and Organization Development, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siwaporn Kunnapapdeelert, Assistant Dean in Research and Knowledge Management and Acting Chairperson in Smart Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Mr. Vorrapob Vivatvanit, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperative Education, Dr. Kritta-orn Chewwasang, Chairperson of Hospitality, Tourism, and MICE Management. The purpose of the meeting is to develop academic collaboration together; especially Higher Education Sandbox and Cooperative and Work Integrated Education (CWIE), between BUUIC and CEVA Logistics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. Initially, the discussion emphasizes on Smart Logistics and Supply Chain Management and further more on another curriculum. This collaborative effort would like to enhance the students’ skills, knowledge, attitude, and value. The students will be completed and competent on Logistics and Supply Chain for their future work. MAR 8 and Ms. Natcha Jarisak, Supervisor-Recruitment Sub-group. The purpose of the meeting was to develop academic collaboration, especially in a Higher Education Sandbox, and Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE) between BUUIC’s Smart Logistics and Supply Chain Management program and Daikin Industries. BUUIC also hopes that the collaboration can be extended to include other programs at the college. The discussion emphasized the enhancement of students’ interpersonal skills, knowledge, attitudes, and problem-solving skills. Moreover, the collaboration aims to provide students with an authentic learning experience. BUUIC strives to produce graduates who are competent in the logistics and supply chain areas so that they will be great assets for their future employers.
TRAINING ON USING DRONES AND GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS BUUIC AND BUAS WORK ON A CLASS COLLABORATE PROJECT Burapha University International College (BUUIC) is teaching students in the Smart Logistics an Supply Chain Management program to apply technology in the logistics industry. BUUIC has developed academic collaboration with a pioneer professional institution: Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA). This collaboration will enhance students’ competency in monitoring drones and analyzing data by using geographic information systems. These two technologies are currently used in the logistics industry. Smart Logistics and Supply Chain Management students are the first pioneers to learn and gain experience with professors from GISTDA. On 28 March 2022, BUUIC students were warmly welcomed by Ms. Pranpriya Wongsa, Director of the Academic Network Office. For five days, the students learned about types of drones, mechanisms used to create drones, applications of drones, and UAS regulations in Thailand. Finally, the students had a chance to visit the Galaxy laboratory to learn how materials used for spacecraft and drone construction are tested. BUUIC: your future starts here! On 30 March 2022, The Department of Hospitality, Tourism, and MICE Management (HTM) at BUUIC and Breda Universityof Applied Science (BUas) in Breda, Netherlands were thrilled to work on a class collaboration project under the “Sustainable Goals Development” concept. Students from HTM’s Event Design and Project Management class and students from BUas’ Event Management class presented event proposals with the theme of Sustainable Goals MAR 9 Development. Some of the topics presented were Field-trip Events with Green Concept, Let’s Help The Earth on Climate Action, and Events on Water and Sanitation. The students shared their feedback on each other’s projects. This assignment aimed to fulfill specific academic purposes, but it also aimed to enhance social integration between BUUIC and BUas. BUUIC would like to express our gratitude to Ms. Hanny Verdellen, the Event Management instructor from BUas and to all students from both universities that participated in this event.
THE “YOUTH INNOVATOR SERVING LOCAL COMMUNITY” PROJECT MAR 10 On 31 March 2022, Burapha University International College (BUUIC) and the Faculty of Management and Tourism at Burapha University facilitated an event that enabled students to present their projects entitled “Youth Innova- tor Serving Local Community”. The project was fully supported by the Government Savings Bank. The ceremony was opened by Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of BUUIC. Then, Ms. Wilanee Sae-Tae, Director of Small and Medium Entrepreneur and Community Organization Development, stated the purpose of the event and gave recommendations to the participants. Five communities participated in the project: Thakham subdistrict, Borpu subdistrict, Ban Suan subdistrict, Pluangtong homestay, and Khao sammuk. The Zoom application was used for this event.
INTERNATIONAL LECTURE SERIES ON LANGUAGE & CULTURE BUUIC SIGNS A LETTER OF INTENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MONTPELLIER The Language and Letters Department of Bukidnon State University in the Philippines organized an International Lecture Series on Language and Culture. The lectures were given via Zoom calls from 4 to 7 April 2022. The theme of the lecture series was “Navigating Language and Culture in the New Eduscape”. Dr. Monparath Charatwattananich and Ms. Waraporn Theeresak were invited to give talks on 6 April. Dr. Monparath shared her talk on “Addressing Global English Teaching in New Eduscape: Challenges for Standard Notions of English”. Ms. Waraporn’s topic was “Metaverse and English Language Learning”. This lecture series was a great opportunity for Dr. Monparath and Ms. Waraporn to exchange experiences with the event organizers and the event participants. Over 170 people from various universities in ASEAN member countries participated in the event. Hopefully, the shared experiences will benefit the participants regarding their implementation of course design and classroom management. On 12 April 2022, Asst.Prof.Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College (BUUUC), represented the President of Burapha University at a signing ceremony hosted by the University of Montpellier (IAE-UM) in France. Dr. Parinya and Prof. Emmanuel Houzé, Dean of L’ institut d’ Administration des Enterprises, signed a letter of intent for a collaboration exchange program and a double degree program with IAE-UM, a pioneer university in France. The purpose of the collaboration is to enhance the opportunities for Burpha University International College students to experience studying abroad. APR 11
BURAPHA UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE VISITS BUUIC EXCHANGE STUDENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MONTPELLIER BUUIC SIGNS A LETTER OF INTENT WITH BREDA UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES On 12 April 2022, Asst.Prof.Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College (BUUIC); Asst. Prof.Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Assoc.Dean of Administration and Organization Development; and A. Vorrapob Vivatvanit, Asst. Dean of Student Affairs visited three BUUIC students at the University of Montpellier in France. The three students were selected to participate in the International Credit Mobility Program under the Erasmus+ Scholarship. These students recieved a great opportunity to study abroad and to participate in this program. They are gaining experience in a multicultural environment by studying and participating in activities with many foreign classmates and professors. In addition, living in European countries with different cultures is both fascinating and exciting for them. BUUIC is delighted to hear that the students are happy while studying at IAE Montpellier. On 13 April 2022, Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College (BUUIC), represented the President of Burapha University at a signing ceremony hosted by Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) in The Netherlands. Dr. Parinya and Prof. Dr. Jorrit Snijder, President of the Executive Board at BUas, signed a letter of intent for a collaboration exchange program. The program will allow professors, staff, and students to collaborate on academics, academic services, and research. Moreover, a double degree program with BUas, a pioneer university in The Netherlands, was discussed in detail. The purpose of the collaboration is to enhance the opportunities for BUUIC students to experience studying abroad. APR 12
BUUIC VISITED BREDA UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES RAJAMANGALA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY ISAN VISITS BUUIC From 13 to 14 April 2022, Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College (BUUIC) led a team to visit Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) in The Netherlands. Asst. Prof. Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Assoc.Dean in Administration and Organization Development and A. Vorrapob Vivatvanit, Asst. Dean in Student Affairs and Cooperative Education, joined Dean Parinya to observe and study BUas. Breda University manages education in a way that supports students’ individual learning. Moreover, BUas students are fully supported by a learning environment that includes facilities such as the Visiting Centre, Innovation Square, Experience Lab, and Co-Working Space. A student coaching facilitator is responsible for operating all of these facilities. The BUUIC executive team was welcomed On 20 April 2022, Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College (BUUIC), led a team to welcome Dr. Sorajak Kasemsuvan, Vice President of Rajamangala University of Technology Isan’s University Council, Dr. Ada Raimaturapon, Vice President from Rajamangala’s Khonkaen campus, and Dr. Paphawin Patcharachotsuthi, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Infomation Technology from Rajamangala’s Khonkhaen campus. The first purpose of the visit was to exchange knowledge and experience in curriculum management, organization management, and vision development. The second purpose of the visit was to broaden our educational network. Hopefully, this visit will benefit both parties as they plan for the future. APR 13 by several people from BUas including the Director of International Affairs, the Global Engagement Team, the Director for Tourism, Leisure and Events, the Director of Hotel and Facility Management, the Director for Logistics Management, and the Director of MBA in Imagineering. The BUUIC team also met with managers, policy advisors, senior lecturers, and representative students who presented various supporting facilities and learning systems. The Netherlands’ education system has created the third-most educated country in the world. Therefore, the visit with a school like BUas will be helpful as the team works to improve the quality of education at BUUIC.
WEBINAR ABOUT RESILIENT SUPPLY CHAINS AND SUPPLY CHAIN RISK MANAGEMENT CLASS COLLABORATION BETWEEN BUUIC AND MCU – PART 1 On 23 April 2022, the Logistics Management department organized a webinar about Resilient Supply Chains and Supply Chain Risk Management. Mr. Akarat Rujirasettakul, Supply Chain Consultant and Director of Inno Insight Co., Ltd. shared his valuable experience about resilient supply chains. Logistics students and alumni also gained knowledge about supply chain risk management and problem solving from Mr. Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, Chief Executive Officer of LEO Global Logistics Public Co., Ltd. On 26 April 2022, Ming Chuan University (MCU) in Taiwan and Burapha University International College (BUUIC) collaborated on the Consumer Behavior and Cultural Diversity Study for Hospitality and Tourism Management course. Prof. Lynne Lee with MCU and Ms. Hataipat Phungpumkaew with BUUIC were the main coordinators for this program. Activities included group presentations and discussion on topics related to people and culture. The group discussed how people’s behaviors can be influenced through local advertising. Specific advertisements and marketing issues were explained, which expanded students’ perception and understanding of the cultures. APR 14
CLASS COLLABORATION BETWEEN BUUIC AND MCU – PART 2 VIRTUAL MEETING BUUIC AND FPTU On 26 April 2022, Ming Chuan University (MCU) in Taiwan and Burapha University International College (BUUIC) collaborated on the topic of “Destination Branding”. Dr. Charles Shih was the main coordinator from MCU while Ms. Hataipat Phungpumkaew was the main coordinator from BUUIC. For this activity, Thai and Taiwanese students were organized into mixed groups. Each group was asked to analyze tourism resources and create a story that promoted the destination. Moreover, students designed marketing communication tools that support destination branding and presented them to the class. On 5 May 2022, Burapha University International College (BUUIC) hosted a virtual meeting with FPT University in Vietnam (FPTU). The meeting was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of BUUIC, and Ms. Waraporn Theerasak, Asst. Dean for International Affairs. The Vietnamese leader from FPTU was Ms. Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Linh. Ms. Linh is an International Cooperation Officer for outbound mobility. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss academic partnership and collaboration regarding a one-semester exchange program. BUUIC and FPTU also agreed to look at other collaborative options for future development. Hopefully, the collaboration between BUUIC and FPTU will begin soon. APR 15 MAY
BUUIC ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAMP 2022 During 20-22 May 2022, Burapha University International College organized Entrepreneurship Camp specifically for high school students. There were 60 students from all over Thailand participating in the camp. The purpose of the camp was to inspire the students to be the collaborative entrepreneurs. The organizers strongly believe that being collaborative is a lot more important than being competitive. That is how we all can overcome the crisis and changing world. The evaluation from the students regarding to the camp was excellent and they would like to participate again and recommend to others. MAY 16
AUN-QA OF THE B.A. PROGRAM CLASS COLLABORATION BETWEEN COLLABORATION BETWEEN FACULTY OF MEDICINE, FACULTY OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCE, AND CHULABHORN ROYAL ACADEMY (CRA) On 27 May 2022, Asst.Prof. Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Assoc. Dean in Administration and Organization Development, was assigned by Asst.Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College (BUUIC), to propose the opportunity of collaboration between Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Allied Health Science, and Chulabhorn Royal Academy (CRA). Chulabhorn Royal Academy (CRA) offers many positions to students who have English competency in Wellness and Holistic Health Management (WHM), Digital and Creative Marketing (DCM), International Business Management (IBM), Human Resources (HR), Global Business Communication (GBC), Smart Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SLCM). According to the collaboration, BUUIC is able to support and instruct students according to the required competency of Chulabhorn Royal Academy (CRA). The students will be able to work in Chulabhorn Royal Academy (CRA) without any difficulties. Asst. Prof. Dr Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of BUUIC, Dr. Monparath Charatwattananich, Chair of the B.A. Program, and the B.A. lecturers, welcomed Asst. Prof. Dr. Pratchaya Kaewkaen and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ekaruth Srisook to BUUIC for program full assessment. The full assessment was organized onsite at BUUIC on 23 and 24 May 2022. The program received Band 3 as an overall result. The program also received valuable suggestions from the assessors and they shall be utilized for the better improvement. ERASMUS+ STAFF WEEK XIII AT UNIVERSIDAD DE MURCIA, SPAIN The Erasmus+ Staff Week XIII, hosted by Universidad de Murcia (UMU), Kingdom of Spain, was successfully organized from May 30 to June 3, 2022. There were more than 30 partner universities’ in Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, especially in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, participating in the event. The main goal was to strengthen the partner universities cooperations, including Burapha University, in terms of international relations. In this regards, Mr. Vorrapob Vivatvanit, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperative Education, lecturer in International Hospitality Tourism and MICE Management, was awarded by the grant of The European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), the European Commission (EC), to join the event as visiting professor. Furthermore, participants had an opportunity to share their expertise in the Capacity Building project workshop at the University of Cartagena. Mr. Vivatvanit had a meeting with Prof. Fernando Merino de Lucas, professor in Faculty of Economics, to continue the inter-institutional agreements. MOU SIGNING CEREMONY & THE 6TH MICE ACADEMY DAY THE 6TH MICE ACADEMY DAY On 16 June 2022, Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College, was invited to be the guest speakers at the 6th MICE Academy Day at the Swissotel, Bangkok. Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya, as Leader of MICE eastern cluster, gave speech about the TCEB activities along with other leaders of MICE Academic Cluster. BUUIC has tried to foster MICE development in relation to five dimensions including Content development, Connection development, Careerdevelopment, Community development and Collaboration development. All institutions located in the Eastern region are always welcome to join BUUIC for enhancing MICE capacity. Hopefully, we can take what we have learned to help students and the community. On 16 June 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watcharin Gasaluck, President of Burapha University, was invited to sign the MOU. The signed MOU is the specific agreement made for the MICE-integrated collaborations between 11 regional MICE Centers and TCEB. Moreover, Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College, was invited to be the guest speaker of the event ‘The 6th MICE Academy Day’. Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya is the representative of Eastern regional MICE Center. GUEST SPEAKER FOR KKUIC TOUR GUIDE LICENSES PRACTICAL TRIP “TEMPLE RUN 2022” BY HTM STUDENTS During 20-22 June 2022, HTM Program had set the Cultural trip to acquire the tour guide license under the concept “Temple Run”. This program aimed to enhance the tour operator and tour guide’s organizing skills and interpretation skills. The trip was organized by the 2nd of HTM year students under Dr. Kritta-orn Chewwasung and A. Vorrapob Vivatvanit The trip was designed harmoniously with many activities, visiting the Ayuthaya World Heritage, making court dolls, having dinner on a Rice barge cruise along Choapraya River, and making the well-known dessert of Ayutthaya “Roti Sai Mai.” As a result, not only have students learned about the cultural destination, but they also have developed their skills in tour operation. Ms. Waraporn Theerasak, Associate Dean for International Affairs and a lecturer of the B.A. Program, was invited to be a guest speaker by Dr. Wanwisa Wannapipat, the Program Director of Communication Arts Division of Khon Kaen University International College. The presentation topic was ‘Moving up the Academic Career Ladder’ and it was virtually presented via Zoom call on 20 June 2022 for the event ‘Program Orientation, CA KKUIC Family Outing 2022’. It was also an honor as Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirimonbhorn Thipsingh, Dean of KKUIC, have the opening and welcome speech at the beginning of the event. BUUIC PR TEAM VISITING REPS WELCOME THE DELEGATE FROM THE UNIVERSITY TO TRENTO, ITALY Ms. Silvia Bevilacqua, Delegate from International Mobility Office, the University of Trento, Italy, visited Burapha University International College on July, 12, 2022. Ms. Bevilacqua was escorted by Dr. Peera Wongupparaj. Dr. Wongupparaj is the current administrator and lecturer of the College of Research Methodology and Cognitive Science, Burapha University. Ms. Bevilacqua was welcomed by BUUIC team and they had a meeting to discuss the future collaboration. In the near future, BUUIC hopes to be a partner with the School of Economics and Management and School of Innovation of the University of Trento, Italy. Moreover, BUUIC hopes to co-run the Erasmus+ ICM Scholarship Program with the University of Trento. This scholarship program will support the staff and student mobility. It was a great opportunity for BUUIC PR Team to visit the students of Royal English Program School (REPS) on July 4, 2022. REPS is a bilingual school located in Banchang, Rayong. BUUIC PR Team shared about the opportunities gained from studying at an international college. EDPEX ASSESSMENT FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2021 SEMINAR ON WRITING AN ACADEMIC ARTICLE IN BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT On 22 July 2022, BUUIC organized a virtual seminar on writing an academic article in business and management with Dr. Lakshmi Iyer from Appalachian State University. Dr. Lakshmi shared about the basic outline for an article writing format, how to write an academic article in business and management, and how to organize the contents of an academic article in a proper way. The seminar was very informative, productive, and successful. On 20 July 2022, BUUIC had a chance to welcome the EdPex assessor team that included Assistant Professor Dr. Pregamol Rutchanagul, Dr. Suchada Rattanawanitpun, and Associate Professor Dr. Chalee Paibulkichakul. Education Criteria for Performance Excellence (EdPEx) is a systematic process to assure educational quality compliance at the faculty level at Burapha University. The BUUIC management team, instructors and academic support staff participated in both the self-assessment report (SAR) and the interview event on 20 July. The assessment results show significant improvement and a satisfactory level educational quality development at BUUIC during the academic year 2564. JUL 22
BUUIC ORGANIZED AN ‘EMPOWERING ENGLISH FOR FUTURE CAREERS CAMP’ FOR NANG RONG SCHOOL Burapha University International College (BUUIC) would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Manus Viengvises, Director of Nang Rong school, and to their teachers for allowing us to organize a camp for Nang Rong students. The camp was held on 23 and 24 July 2022 at the RoyalHill Golf Resort and Spa in Nakhonnayok Province. The mutual objectives were to enhance English skills, improve English confidence, and explore future careers. The BUUIC team provided many eductainment activities for the students. They learned and had fun at the same time. BUUIC received positive feedback from Nang Rong school. Professor Fernando Merino de Lucas is a visiting professor from the University of Murcia in Spain. On Monday 25 July 2022, he gave a seminar titled ‘A Case Study of Blue Flag: Marine Tourism and ERASMUS+ICM Scholarship Program’ to BUUIC faculty, staff, and students. The seminar was presented both online and onsite. The Blue Flag is a foundation for environmental education, and their movement mainly promotes pure water, clean coasts, safety, and access for all. Moreover, their work truly supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), designed by the United Nations. BUUIC believes that faculty members can apply the ideas of Blue Flag and SDGs in their classrooms and their research. BUUIC also believes that students could start thinking about what they can do to contribute to the environment and society. Professor Merino presented a lot of information about the ERASMUS+ ICM JUL 24 Scholarship Program. BUUIC students can study at the University of Murcia for one semester with full financial support from the ERASMUS+ foundation. What a great opportunity! BUUIC VISITS THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE, SPORT, AND TOURISM AND THE HO CHI MINH CITY UNIVERSITY OF CULTURE On 27 July 2022, Assistant Professor Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Associate Dean of Administration and Organization Development, along with A. Sirintorn Thepmongkorn, Instructor in the International Business Management program, met with teachers from Assumption College Sriracha to discuss their Business Management Program. Since their program opened three years ago, it now should be revised and updated. One goal is to respond to feedback received since the program was implemented. BUUIC serves as consultants to the college’s teachers, and their goal is to instruct students in ways that achieve appropriate learning outcomes in Business Management. We appreciate the opportunity to help design their revised curriculum. The program has been widely accepted by parents and students. Next year, Assumption College Sriracha plans to expand the Business Managemant Program to three rooms in each level. BUUIC ALSO VISITED THE VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY - HO CHI MIN CITY UNIVERSITY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES (USSH). OFFICIAL WELCOME TO ALL BURAPHA UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE FRESHMEN STUDENTS On 1 August 2022, all first year students gathered in the auditorium at the ‘President Dr. Suchart Upatham Building’. The theme of the BUUIC orientation was: Ready to Learn, Ready to Shine. In this event, freshmen in all majors (IBM, DCM, FIN, SLSM, HTM, HWM, IHR, and GBC) watched a welcoming performance and parade presented by senior, junior, and sophomore BUUIC students. In addition, the freshmen students heard welcoming remarks by Assistant Professor Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of BUUIC. Following the Dean’s welcome, all foreign and Thai instructors introduced themselves and welcomed the students. This year, BUUIC was more than happy to meet with the parents of some freshman students. After the orientation in the auditorium, Dean Parinya and Assistant Professor Dr. Krittipat Picthayadejanant, Associate Dean for Administration and Organization Development, led parents on a college tour. During the tour, the Dean shared the college’s vision: Dynamic Management Striving for Excellence. It was also a time to receive feedback from the parents. Their feedback will help plan the future development of the institution. Between 28 and 31July 2022, Assistant Professor Dr. Parinya Nakpathom and Assistant Professor Dr. Siwaporn Kunnapapdeelert met the President and executive team at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam to discuss a possible collaboration exchange program that would allow professors, staff, and students to collaborate on academics, academic services, and research. The BUUIC team had further discussions with Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan, head of the Department of Indonesian Studies, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam – Indonesia Friendship Association. These discussions focused on enhancing the opportunities for both USSH and BUUIC students to experience studying 26 JUL AUG abroad. Moreover, the BUUIC team and Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan went to the Mekong river, which is part of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), to explore research collaboration possibilities related to tourism and logistics.
EXCHANGE STUDENT ORIENTATION FALL 2022 From 7 to 9 August 2022, all BUUIC faculty members and staff participated in our annual seminar held at Hua Hin. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the direction of the college and the operational plan which strives to fulfill BUUIC’s vision: “An Educational Institution with Dynamic Management Striving for Excellence in Southeast Asia”. In addition, we linked our core competencies (the 5 INS: Internationalization, Interdisciplinary, Integration, Integrity and Innovation) with delivering BUUIC’s mission and action plan. Lastly, we received a great opportunity from our guest speaker, Assistant Professor Dr. Santidhorn Pooripakdee, to understand the current trends of education in order to handle future disruptions. BUUIC ANNUAL SEMINAR ENTITLED “STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT WITH PARTICIPATIVE MANAGEMENT TO OVERCOME THE CHALLENGE OF INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE FOR BECOMING A SUSTAINABLE ORGANIZATION” On 15 August 2022, the BUUIC International Affairs team organized the Exchange Student Orientation for Fall 2022. The orientation was specifically organized for 29 Indonesian exchange students who are from the Trisakti School of Management and the Trisakti School of Tourism. The orientation was organized onsite and online because some students are still in Indonesia. The students were given a lot of important information such as visa renewals, how to activate BUU student accounts, special events, and other student activities. The International Affairs Team received great support and collaboration from BUUIC Academic Affairs and BUUIC’s housing staff. Their support meant that the orientation ran very smoothly. AUG 27
UNESCO SUMMER SCHOOL 2022 Burapha University International College (BUUIC) has enjoyed cordial collaboration with Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Trisakti (Trisakto School of Tourism) in Jakarta, Indonesia since 2012. As a result of this collaboration, Assistant Professor Dr. Parinya Nakpathom,Dean of BUUIC, was officially invited to attend the UNESCO Summer School 2022. Mr. Vorrapob Vivatvanit, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperative Education at BUUIC, accompanied the Dean. The summer school was a cooperative event with the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Switzerland. The event was held between 15 and 21 August 2022. Participants travelled through the capital city of Jakarta and the Ancient cities in Jogjakarta and Solo (Surakarta) in order to experience flora and fauna, learn local traditions, and visit important archeological sites. Particular emphasis was placed on exchanging knowledge regarding digital technology on the World Heritage Sites for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Event participants were from across the globe: Italy, Serbia, Montenegro, Switzerland, Peru, The United State of America, Indonesia, and Thailand. Moreover, the Dean of BUUIC had the opportunity to meet with Major General (Purn) Dr. Bimo Prakoso, the Chairperson of the Trisakti Foundation, and his management team. They discussed cooperation between both institutions on a bachelor’s degree program and graduate programs as well as other options that could be developed in the near future. AUG 28
BUUIC CONTINUES WITH THE U2T FOR BCG PROJECT Burapha University International College is working on the second phase of a project called ‘U2T for BCG’ - which means ‘University to Tambon (U2T) for Bioeconomy, Circular Economy, Green Economy (BCG). This project is funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). For the project’s second phase, BUUIC organized a green event named “Tripod in Ploungthong” at Baan Rai Sirichokchai on Saturday 3 September 2022. The exhibition consisted of a photo-contest gallery, local foods, and folk songs performed by local people and BUUIC students. Assistant Professor Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of BUUIC, Assistant Professor Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Associate Dean, and the BUUIC team participated to support the Ploungthongp Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO). Mr. Somchok Sipanuwong is the Chief Officer of the SAO. Moreover, Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanantis the ‘U2T for BCG’ Director for BUUIC. This sustainable exhibition was the first event since the outbreak of COVID-19. More than 130 local people and tourists attended the event, and approximately 50 photoshoots were submitted to the photo contest. The project will continue, and other people are welcome to submit their photos before the 15 September deadline. The final exhibition will be held at Somjitt Farmstay on Saturday 10 September. INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT BUUIC welcomed more than 20 Burapha University Alumni. They met with 40 BUUIC student leaders and liaisons who are in the student Club. The alumni group demonstrated how to plan “Santanakarn” recreational activities. As part of this training, the participants learned and practiced how to develop recreation performances. Another benefit of the training was to strengthen the BUUIC student-alumni network. This special fun-day was organized under the ‘Edutainment’ concept. In addition, we hope this event will be another step to improving BUUIC student recreation, said Assistant Professor Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Associate Dean for Administration and Organization Development. Dr. Krittipat presided over this event on behalf of the Dean of BUUIC. BUUIC SANTANAKARN DAY Appalachian State University (ASU) and Burapha University International College (BUUIC) have co-organized an ‘Interior Design Project’. The two colleges have co-organized this project for the past four years, and it has always been successful. The project leaders are Ms. Jeanne Mercer-Ballard and Ms. Waraporn Theerasak. Ms. Jeanne is an Associate Professor of Interior Design in the Department of Applied Design at ASU. Ms. Waraporn is an instructor in the B.A. Program at BUUIC. In this project, ASU students who are majoring in Interior Design will be paired with BUUIC students from various majors. The ASU students will design a Thai restaurant and resort, and the BUUIC students will share information about Thai culture and lifestyles. The information shared by the BUUIC students will be helpful as the ASU students develop their designs for a Thai restaurant and resort. The project leaders hope that the students will not only gain intercultural communication skills, but also maintain their international relationships they form while working on the project. SEP 30
EXCHANGE STUDENTS AT ONE OF THE TOP 200 ASIAN UNIVERSITIES Mr. Vipop Veerasawat, a BUUIC student majoring in Hospitality, Tourism, and MICE Management, was nominated to participate in an exchange program in Fall semester 2022. The exchange program is with the Universidad de Murcia in Spain. Mr. Vipop will be supported by the Erasmus+ ICM Scholarship Program. The scholarship includes a monthly stipen and round-trip airline tickets between Thailand and Spain. Mr. Vipob mentioned recently that he had a really great time exploring the city of Murcia. He also enjoyed meeting new international classmates. BUUIC is more than happy to support any student who would like to earn a scholarship like Mr. Vipop did. ERASMUS+ ICM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSIDAD DE MURCIA Ms. Yuwaret Meechob and Ms. Sirapat Yimdee, BUUIC students majoring in International Business Management, are now participating in an exchange program at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea. Chung-Ang University (CAU) is 110th in the 2022 Asian University Ranking and is ranked by Times Higher Education. Ms. Yuwaret and Ms. Siripat will be studying at CAU for one semester, from September to December. These two students recently mentioned that they really enjoy their personal life and student life in Korea. They are also happy to have an opportunity to learn more about the Korean culture and the Korean language. INTERNATIONAL TOURISM SEMINAR 2022 “RETHINKING TOURISM: STRENGTHENING COLLABORATION AND TOGETHERNESS TOWARD THE TOURISM REVIVAL” On 10 September, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Myrza Rahmanita, Head of Tourism Academic Department, TST invited Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College (BUUIC) to be a guest speaker for Master students Program. The topic was “Journal Skimming and Scanning”. Moreover, this class can encourage Master students to share students experiences and ideas in the tourism industry. CLASS COLLABORATION BETWEEN BUUIC AND TRISAKTI SCHOOL OF TOURISM (TST), INDONESIA. On 14 September, Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College (BUUIC) and Instructor of Holistic and Wellness Management was invited to be one of the guest speakers at the INTERNATIONAL TOURISM SEMINAR 2022 (online) at Tourism Polytechnic of Makassar, Indonesia. The title of Dean was “Rethink Tourism management for Sustainable and Socially Inclusive Growth”. This seminar was opened by Dra. Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, M, Sc., CHE, Permanent Secretary of The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Indonesia. There are more than 500 participants from 19 countries. SEP 32
BUUIC 2022 WAI KRU DAY On 15 September 2022, the BUUIC Student Club organized the 2022 Wai Khru Day. This event is a ceremony for students to show respect to teachers. Wai Khru is a traditional Thai ceremony. It’s a great opportunity for students to follow the old traditions of showing respect and appreciation to their BUUIC instructors for sharingknowledge and giving support to all students. As part of Wai Kru Day, BUUIC held a ceremony to award student scholarships. Students received scholarshipsfor Outstanding Academic Record, Participation in Extracurricular Activities, Participation in the BUUIC Student Club, and Student Leadership in each BUUIC Major. After scholarships were awarded, the college received a special donation to the BUUIC Educational Fund. The donation was given to BUUIC by Associate Professor Rana Phongroungphan, a former Dean of BUUIC and currently serving on the Board of Trustees. The purpose of the donation is to celebrate the 19th anniversary of BUUIC’s establishment. Moreover, many Thai students and international students performed the traditional Bai Sri Su-kwan blessing ceremony with their BUUIC instructors. All participants also enjoyed Thai folklore presented by students from the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. More than 150 executives, instructors, staff members, and students participated in the Wai Kru Day ceremonies, which served as the official inauguration of the 2022 academic year. SEP 33
HTM STUDENTS FROM THE PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT COURSE HAD COSMETICS WORKSHOPS on 15 September and 22 September 2022. The objective of these workshops was to make students aware of the challenges and opportunities they will face with job interviews. Moreover, these activities enhanced students’ employability by way of developing their professional personality and professional appearance. Thank you to Mr. Manit Theppatimaporn, Chairperson of The Performing Arts Program at BUU’s Faculty of Music and Performing Arts for his wonderful work as the guest speaker. We also greatly appreciate his wholehearted effort to teach cosmetic makeup skills to our BUUIC students. On Saturday 17 September 2022, Burapha University International College (BUUIC) met with a group of BUUIC alumni representatives. The team was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, the Dean of BUUIC. The team also included Mr. Vorrapob Viavtvanit, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperative Education and Mr. Kitja Lairayapong, Academic Officer. This meeting was the first onsite alumni activity since the start of the Covid pandemic. The Dean and the alumni had a fruitful discussion about establishing a BUUIC Alumni Association. On 18 September 2022, BUUIC organized a one-day trip to Pattaya for exchange students from the Trisakti School of Management and the Trisakti School of Tourism, located in Indonesia. The trip was led by Ms. Waraporn Theerasak, Dr. Monparat Charatwattananich, Dr. Nuchjaree Pookamarn, and Mr. Sudthijitt Rodpunn. The group visited Great & Grand Sweet Destination, Buddha Mountain (Khao Chee Chan), Centra Festival Pattaya, and Koh Loi. BUUIC hopes that the students enjoyed the trip, and we hope they learned more about the Thai culture and our lifetyles. BUUIC would like to thank Winnie, Ploy, Baimhon, and Deem from the liaison club for taking good care of our Indonesian friends. Mr. Jessada Milamai and Ms. Suparat Suwanachun, 3rd Year of BBA (HTM) was selected to join “IMEX-MPI-MCI Future Leaders Forum : International University Challenge” on September 21, 2022 at Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World. There were 24 students from institutions across the country join this forum to start a successful career in the meetings and events industry by meeting with the industry professionals and fellow future leader and growing their network. THE AOMSIN YUWAPHAT RAKTHIN PROJECT SEP 36 On 21 September 2022, Burapha University International College (BUUIC) held an exhibition to present the results of the “Aomsin Yuwaphat Rakthin Project.” For this project, BUUIC was cooperating with the Government Savings Bank (GSB). The project aimed to support and strengthen local businesses. This concept is a critical mission for Burapha University to be an EEC university using SDGs. Over a four-month period (June to September 2022), BUUIC students and advisors worked with local entrepreneurs. The exhibition held on 21 September opened with Assistant Professor Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of BUUIC, presiding. Assistant Professor Dr. Ekawit Tobuirn, the Associate President of Student Affairs of Burapha University, then gave the exhibition’s opening speech. Next, Khun Wiranee Saetae, a representative from the GSB, gave a supportive speech. Then, five teams made their project presentations: 1. San-Fun Team (BUUIC): Developing Marketing for the Basketry (Ban-Suan Chonburi) 2. Pla-Nil Plang Yai Team (BUUIC): Developing New Product Forms of the Pla-Nil Fish (Ta-Kham Chonburi) 3. Unseen Ploungthong Team (BUUIC): Developing Tourism and Homestays at Ploungthong (Bo-Thong Chonburi) 4. Sa-La Gloy Jai Team (BUUIC): Developing a New Form of Sala-Made Product (Ta-Mai Chonburi) 5. BBS Hotties Team (BBS): Developing a Shell-Made Plant Pot and the Tourist Route at Khao-Sam-Mook (Saensook Chonburi) The Sa-La Gloy Jai Team was selected to be the representative for Burpha University. They will present their project in the final round of the competition in November.
On 26 September 2022, Students of Hospitality Tourism and MICE Management, Burapha University International College are attending Sustainability Expo at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in order to learn how to organize event sustainably. The students are learning in order to design the sustainable event at BUUIC in the future. On Friday 7 October 2022, Assistant Professor Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of Burapha University International College, welcomed Professor Rob Simons from Breda University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands. Rob is the Vice Dean for Education at Breda University’s Academy for Tourism, our partner in The Netherlands. He visited BUUIC to discuss collaboration development in terms of academic teaching and research. The goal was to discuss possible areas of future cooperation. Professor Meznar gave a presentation on ‘Study Abroad at Appalachian State University’ to BUUIC students. The students learned more about how the Appstate campus looks, what facilities are provided, what activities and clubs they can join, and much more. The delegates also had a meeting with the BUUIC management team to discuss possible future collaboration including a faculty exchange program, a double-degree program, and a reciprocal 10-day exchange program. Jeremy shared the tutorial class ranged from grammar structure, listening and reading skills to students, respectively. On 20 October 2022, Mr.Muhammad Ghazi, Miss Biansy Imanda Putri Subianto from Trisakti School of Management, Indonesia were invited as a guest lecturer to share knowledge and experience to BUUIC students who are in the BBA program, The topic was “Indonesian COVID resilience which focused on how the global, corporates, MMEs, SMEs and people could apply the resilience management after the Covid-19 pandemic. The resilience management should help the corporates and SMEs to continuing the business in the new way as well as mainting good employment supporting and economic growth. ERASMUS+ CAPACITY BUILDING STEPUP PROJECT Breda University Applied Science (BUas) in The Netherlands, in partnership with BUUIC’s Hospitality, Tourism, and MICE Management, worked to explore the topic of “Addressing Cultural Diversity Challenges in Europe: A Comparative Overview of France, Germany, The Netherland with Thailand”. The program was developed by the course leaders: Ms. Hataipat Phungpumkaew (HTM, BUUIC) and Ms. Hanny Verdellen (BUas). The objectives of this program OCT 40 BREDA UNIVERSITY APPLIED SCIENCE PARTNERS WITH BUUIC TO EXPLORE CULTURAL DIVERSITY. On 20 and 21 October 2022, Assistant Dean Mr. Vorrapob Vivatvanit was invited to present a conference paper at the Cracow University of Economics (Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny w Krakowie: UEK) in the Republic of Poland. The topic of the paper was “Implementation of Social Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub on Economic and Social Sustainability for Social Enterprise in the Northeast and East of Thailand”. Mr. Vivatvanit served as a project researcher and administrator. The conference was part of Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education Institution Strengthening innovative social entrepreneurship practices for disruptive business setting in Thailand and Myanmar. Mr. Vivatvanit also met with the UEK’s Head of International Relations to discuss the possibility of cooperation between Burapha University International College, BUUIC, and the UEK. They discussed a student exchange program, double de- gree programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, and research collaboration. were to 1) promote the understanding of unique cultures and ethnic groups, 2) develop students’ sociocultural competence, and 3) increase the quality of BUUIC students’ soft skills performance. On 21 and 22 October, students in HTM’s Cultural Diversity course opened the discussion session on the topic above with BUas students taking the same course. The students applied the theory of Cross Cultural Dimensions within the context of their own countries. We had students from Germany, France, The Netherlands, and Thai- land participating in the discussion. This activity brought a better understanding of globalization and internation- alization in the context of SDGs on Equality and Reduction of Inequality as well as several other topics related to eastern and western cultures. It was great fun and a wonderful experience for everyone who was involved. We hope to develop this kind of program again, and we can hardly wait for the next collaboration with BUas. The activity may have ended, but the friendships are ongoing. Our heartfelt thanks to students from both universities for their hard work to make this event happen.
OCT 41 MEETINGS WITH APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY For three years, international travel activities were fully restricted because of the unprecedented challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, the travel restrictions have been lifted, and international travel activities are lively once again. Therefore, Appalachian State University (ASU) invited BUUIC delegates to make a presentation to their Sustainable Development course, to join meetings with ASU professors and their Education Abroad Team, and to join the Education Abroad Fair. OCT 42 On Monday 24 October 2022, BUUIC delegates were invited by Appalachian State University (ASU) to be guest speakers and to give a presentation on ‘Sustainable Development Growth in Thailand’s Tourism’. The presentation was given to ASU students taking a course called Sustainable Development. This course is co-taught by Professor Meredith Pipes and Professor Jacqueline Tilton. On Wednesday 26 October 2022, BUUIC had an opportunity to join the Education Abroad Fair at Appalachian State University (ASU) located in Boone, North Carolina in the USA. At the fair, ASU’s partner universities as well as private organizations had their own PR booths. ASU professors and ASU students visited each booth to learn more about the various international exchange programs. The event was very well organized, and it was very successful. An uncountable number of professors and students visited BUUIC’s booth, and they showed a lot of interest in joining the exchange program with BUUIC and in coming to visit Thailand. BUUIC VISITS THE BANG PU EDUCATION CENTER CAREER PLANNING FALL 2022 44 On Saturday 29 October, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperative Education, Mr. Vorrapob Vivatvanit, and 37 students from the BUUIC Club visited the Bang Pu Education Center. The group learned about the mangrove eco-system and its importance on life - both life on land and life below the water. Moreover, all participants enjoyed planting young plant seedlings at the coastline where the forest meets the Bang Pu river estuary. The participants also enjoyed bird watching and feeding the winter migranting Siberian gulls. This activity is a one of the BUUIC Club’s CSR activities for SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). It is also part of BUUIC’s implementation of being a green university. From 31 October to 16 November 2022, BUUIC organised training called ‘Career Planning Fall 2022’. More than 117 students from IBM, DCM, Finance, HTM, IHR, GBC, and BFA attended the training. Topics included Interpersonal Skill and Anger Management for Service Encounter, 21st Century Skill in the Workplace, Mooc Basic Excel, Analytic Thinking for Data Visualization Techniques, Initiative for Project Management, COOP Procedures and Advantages, and Writing an Effective Project Poster. The training was provided by industry experts and professional scholars. With this type of training, students can learn from actual practitioners which will help students prepare for their upcoming internships. OCT NOV
BUUIC TRAVEL: LIFE IS JOURNEY AT NAKONPATOM, RATCHABURI AND SAMUTSONGKRAM During 8-11 November 2022, a Group of 40 Hospitality, Tourism and MICE students and Instructors went on a Practical trip for a Tour guide license on the area of the western part of Thailand (Nakonpatom, Ratchaburi and Samutsongkram) under the theme “Life is Journey.” The objective of this practical trip is to build up the knowledge and skills for students to get ready to work in the tourism industry in the future. Students had a great experience visiting many tourist destinations such as Wat Prapathomchedi, Ratchaburi city and Amphawa Chaipattananurak Project. Moreover, they also learned by creating this trip on their own, contacting the supplier, negotiating for the best deal, and providing the customer service and entertainment. There are more trips to go. There is more to learn, practice, and be professional. On 10 November 2022, A. Kittisak Makkawan and A. Jimmy Johnson took 43 BUUIC Logistics students to visit Laem Chabang seaport terminals B5 and C3. These students are currently studying Maritime Transportation Management with A. Kittisak and Multimodal Transport with A. Jimmy. Laem Chabang terminals B5 and C3 are managed by the Port of Laem Chabang International Terminal Co., Ltd. The terminal provided expert guides who were able to provide detailed information about the management company and about terminal operations. LOGISTICS STUDENTS VISIT THE PORT OF LAEM CHABANG NOV 45 The students gained a lot of experience by seeing real-life terminal operation practices and hearing how a terminal operator mangages complicated and dangerous operations. The knowledge the students gained helps them better understand the concepts taught in the classroom. This experience will also benefit our students in their future logistics careers. Moreover, all of them were excited to have a field trip, and they enjoyed visiting terminals where they could see active logistics operations.
BUUIC WELCOMES VISITING LECTURER FROM BINUS UNIVERSITY 46 From 13 to 19 November 2022, BUUIC welcomed Dr. Rianto Nurcahyo from BINUS University in Indonesia as a visiting lecturer. His first lecture was ‘Export-Import Process in Indonesia’ given to students in the ‘International Financial Management’ course. His second lecture was ‘Cross Cultural Management’ given to students in the ‘Principle of Management’ course. Dr. Rianto met with BUUIC’s associate dean for academic affairs and assistant dean for international affairs to discuss opportunities for student exchange programs between BUUIC and BINUS University. Dr. Rianto also discussed research collaboration with faculty members of the BBA Program. On Wednesday 16th, November 2022, BUUIC’s Hospitality, Tourism and MICE management join with Bukidnon State University on the Webinar in visualizing the Hospitality industry after COVID 19 under the topic “Re-envisioning the Hospitality Industry : Trend and updates post Covid -19 Pandemic” There were four guest speakers join the seminar, Ms. Ruthcini Marie T. Callao, Mr. King Tomas Delos Reyes from The Philippines and Dr. Kritta-orn Chewwasung, Ms. Hataipat Phungpumkeaw from BUUIC, Thailand to share their perspective on dynamic and change of hospitality industry as new normal practice. BUUIC JOIN WITH BUKIDNON STATE UNIVERSITY TO RE-ENVISIONING THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY AFTER COVID 19 The objective of this seminar was to share the update trend and current practice of hospitality industry in Thailand, The Philippines and other countries around the world. From the discussion, students from both BUUIC and Bukidnon State University has taken to explore around the cause and effect of the current situations which is not only the Pandemic itself will influence lot of change, but others factor such as the climate change also the huge issue for industry to consider. CWIE & Career Expo NOV 47 On Thursday 17 November 2022, BUUIC proudly presented the CWIE & Career Expo. The theme of the event was “The opportunity has landed for your challenging future”. This prestigious event was held at the Professor Dr. Suchart Upatham Building, the home of Burapha University International College (BUUIC). The college welcomed more than 200 students from various faculties at Burapha University, and more than 25 top and trendy companies were represented at this expo. Participating companies included industrial and manufacturing firms, business strategy consultants, MedTech companies, technology and finance firms, companies working in the hospitality tourism and MICE industry, and other startup and SME companies. A customized special seminar on “Changing and Challenging on the Job Market” was presented by senior management representatives from following partner companies: Mitsubishi Electric Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd; Valeo CDA (Thailand) Co., Ltd; Accenture Solutions Co., Ltd; Ananda Development PCL; TSTC Thai Seafarer Recruitment Co., Ltd; Ortho Clinical Diagnostic Thailand Co., Ltd; and Capella Bangkok. We hope that this event is one of several inaugural activities in the concept of BUUIC-industry partnership for CWIE. These types of events provide opportunities to our students and contribute to BUUIC’s educational sustainability.
MOU CEREMONY WITH TSTC THAI SEAFARER RECRUITMENT LECTURES GIVEN TO STUDENTS IN INDONESIA 48 Burapha University International College (BUUIC) proudly presents the creation of a new strategic partnership with TSTC Thai Seafarer Recruitment Co., Ltd. On 17 November 2022, a ceremony was held at BUUIC to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU creates a collaborative program where BUUIC students will be able to gain external training by working within the cruise industry. Moreover, these students will receive guaranteed future job opportunities. This new program represents a further area of cooperation between BUUIC and the service industry that supports cruise companies. On behalf of the President of Burapha University, Assistant Professor Dr. Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of BUUIC, and Khun Widsawanee Chaiwattanasakul, Board of Directors of TSTC Thai Seafarer Recruitment Co., Ltd, signed the MoU to create this new partnership. NOV Assistant Professor Dr. Tanyanunch Chatrakamollathas was invited to be a visiting lecturer for the International Business Management Program at BINUS University in Indonesia. The first lecture topic was ‘Managing Communication’, and it was given to students in the ‘Introduction to Management and Business’ course. The second lecture topic was ‘E-Commerce in Thailand’, and it was given to students in the ‘E-Business for International Business’ course. Dr. Tanyanunch also gave a webinar lecture on the topic of ‘Personal Financial Management for Sustainable Society’ to students at BINUS University. These three lectures raised students’ awareness associated with SDG Goal 1 No Poverty, Goal 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 10 Reduce Inequality, and Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Community. Dr. Tanyanunch also had a chance to promote BUUIC’s curriculum and our exchange program when talking to BINUS university students. Moreover, she was able to discuss academic and research collaboration with faculty members of the BINUS International Business Management Program.
