5.2 Instrument and scoring

The instrument used in the study is Malaysian adaptation of Beliefs about Language
Learning Inventory (BALLI) which was developed by Horwitz’s (1987). The original version of
BALLI has been extensively used over the past twenty years, thus gaining validity through
repeated administration (Rieger, 2009). This instrument is a five point Likert Scale with 34 items
to identify student beliefs about language learning. The items are categorized under five main
themes:

The instrument is not a test, thus it does not provide overall scores but measures
participants’ opinions and attitudes towards various second language learning beliefs. All the
items in the questionnaire uses rating scales, ranging from strongly disagree (1) to strongly agree
(5), except items 4 and 15 which scored based on five multiple choice answers.

6.0 FINDINGS

Research question one: What are the beliefs of Diploma students in Ampang Community
College about foreign language aptitude?

Referring to Table 3, it can be said that most students have positive beliefs about ability in learning
a foreign language. More than half of the participants (57.1%) agreed that children can learn a
foreign language easier than adults. 52.4% of the participants also agreed that people in Malaysia
are good in learning a new language. It is interesting to know that 45.2 % participants agreed that
everyone can learn to speak a foreign language and it is easier for someone who already speaks
a foreign language to learn another, 47.6%.

Research question two: What are the beliefs of Diploma students in Ampang Community College
about the level of difficulty in ESL learning?

Data from table 4 shows that about half of the participants (52.4%) believed that English is
a language of medium difficulty, 26.2 % felt that it is an easy language and only 4.8 % believed
that it is a very difficult language and 14.3 % believed that it is a difficult language. Speaking is
also considered easier than reading and writing with 45.2 % agreeing to it and 19% strongly
agreed to it.

Research question three: What are the beliefs of Diploma students in Ampang Community
College about the nature of ESL learning?
There are three important stands found from table 5. Learning vocabulary is considered important
as 54.8 % participants agreed to it and 28.6 % strongly agreed to it. As for grammar as an integral
part of language learning, it is a mixed opinion as 14.3% neither disagree nor agree, 45.2% agreed
and 35.7% strongly agreed. Lastly, majority of the participants, (64.3%) agreed and 19% strongly
agreed that the most important part of learning English is learning how to translate from native
language. There was only one participant disagreed to the statement.

Research question four: What are the learning and communication strategies that Diploma
students in Ampang Community College apply?
Referring to table 6, majority participants, (40.5%) agreed that it is acceptable to guess a word
that they don’t know in English, while 19% were undecided about the statement. Drilling is one of
strategies applied by the students AS 42.9 % students strongly agreed and agreed that it is
important to repeat and practice a lot.

Research question five: What are the motivations and expectations in ESL learning for Diploma
students in Ampang Community College?

Table 7 shows that more than half of Ampang Community College diploma students have a
positive belief that they will learn to speak English well as 23.8% strongly agreed and 38.1%
agreed, while only 11.9 % disagree to the statement. English as a ticket to get a better job is also
accepted by more than half of the students, 52.4 % strongly agreed and 40.5 % agreed. It is also
good to see that 57.1 % strongly agreed and 35.7 % agreed that they have the desire to speak
English well, even though only 23.8 % strongly agreed and 38.1 % agreed that they believe that
they will learn to speak English well.

7.0 DISCUSSION

From the result, we can suggest that overall the Diploma students at Ampang Community
College have positive attitude about foreign language learning. They do not only belief that others
are good at learning foreign language, but also have a belief that they have special ability for
learning a foreign language. This finding contradicts with the study carried out by Peng & Hui
(2012), which shows that Malaysian secondary school students only have positive learner’s belief
in foreign language only on others, not on themselves. English was considered as a language
with medium difficulty by most participants, which supported their stand later that one needs to
invest more hours in studying English in order to be a competent speaker. Most participants
agreed that reading and writing are more difficult than speaking. A study by Kabilan and Zahar
(2016) also found that community college students lack English reading skills and this affects their
overall academic performance as they are unable to understand their learning materials. As we
know English lesson in community colleges are more focused in speaking skills, and less attention
is given to reading and writing components. Thus, equal emphasis on all four skills is perhaps
good for the students.

As for belief about nature of language learning, it is surprising that most participants
believed that knowing English speaking culture and native like surrounding is important to ensure
the success of language learning. This suggest that classroom approaches of using more learning
materials which replicates native speakers as well giving exposure about English speaking culture
will be beneficial to instil and sustain interest among the students.

The participants also agreed that the most important part of learning a language is learning
the vocabulary. The relationship between vocabulary knowledge and language use is
complementary; knowledge of vocabulary enables language use and, vice versa, language use
leads to an increase in vocabulary knowledge (Nation, 2001). Other than vocabulary, majority
also agreed that grammar is equally important to learn English. This study also found an important
point about community college students’ language learning techniques, the translation method. It
quite worrying that majority believed that the most important part of learning English is knowing
how to translate, more than knowing the words or grammar. This belief could be shaped by the
way of teaching and learning English that the students were exposed to during the high school,
as suggested by Yonesaka (2008), that the Japanese students stated beliefs were highly
influenced by the way their teachers conducted the English lesson, not only based on their
personal learning styles.

Moving on to responses about learning and communication strategies, majority students
belief that pronunciation is an important aspect in communication. Most participants also agreed
that they enjoy speaking English with native speakers, however, this contradicts with their
statement later that they feel timid speaking English with others. Anyway, it is good to know that
the participants were open towards making mistakes while speaking as majority disagreed that
permitting to make errors will hinder them speaking correctly later. Drilling is also considered as
an important language learning strategies.

The last believe factor, which is motivation and expectations for language learning showed
a positive findings. Only few participants were diffident about their English learning believe, where
else majority have good believe on themselves. The finding also showed that the participants are
aware of the importance of English to get better jobs and the importance given for the language
in Malaysia. It is very encouraging to know that more than 90% of the participants have the
intention to learn to speak English well.

8.0 CONCLUSION

Overall, the study using BALLI questionnaire was helpful to understand the participants’
belief on various aspect of learning English as a second language. The study is important for the
language lecturer to redesign their teaching strategies and adapting more current teaching
materials that suit the students’ interest. This questionnaire was also helpful for the learners to
retrospect the belief that they have on various aspect of language learning. This process served
as a guided reflection among learners (Krishnasamy, Veloo & Lu, 2013).

However, it must be addressed that this study is rather small as it only involved 42 students
at one community college in Selangor. Learners’ beliefs could differ according to the person, time
and geographical setting (Krishnasamy et al., 2013). Thus, more extensive study which involves
samples from all community college in Malaysia is needed to be done to further validate the

findings. Such study will also provide more valuable information about belief that community
college learners have about learning English as a second language. There is also a common
belief that community college students are weak and display anxiety while speaking in English,
as discussed earlier in this study. Hence, more studies need to be carried out as to find out if
there is any relationship between belief and anxiety in language learning. It will be useful to find
measures to reduce anxiety among the learners and produce more proficient community college
graduates in the nearest future.

Abstrak
WBFlexi Reminder dibangunkan bagi membolehkan pengguna merekod masuk dan
keluar mengikut tempoh waktu yang ditetapkan. Notifikasi akan dihantar apabila masa jam
bekerja telah mencukupi 9 jam. Aplikasi ini dibina bagi memastikan pengguna peka akan waktu
masuk dan pulang bekerja. Capaian terhadap aplikasi ini adalah menggunakan telefon pintar
Android. Aplikasi ini juga dibangunkan bertujuan memudahkan pengguna mencapai laporan
keberadaan pengguna pada setiap bulan. Pengguna boleh memasukkan catatan ringkas di
ruangan yang disediakan bagi mencatat keberadaan pengguna. Selain itu, aplikasi ini juga
memudahkan pengguna untuk merujuk laporan bulanan keberadaan dan memuat turun laporan
tersebut. Produktiviti kerja meningkat dengan adanya aplikasi ini kerana notifikasi melalui telefon
pintar akan dihantar terus kepada pengguna tanpa perlu pengguna menunggu di mesin perakam
waktu yang manual. Aplikasi ini mudah dibawa kemana-mana sahaja kerana aplikasi ini hanya
perlu dimuat turun daripada Playstore. Selain daripada itu, aplikasi ini boleh mengatasi masalah
pengguna lupa waktu masuk dan keluar kerja. Aplikasi ini juga boleh digunakan oleh semua
penjawat awam yang menggunakan waktu bekerja flexi. Cadangan penambahbaikan akan
datang, adalah dengan membangunkan aplikasi ini bagi pengguna telefon pintar iOS. Secara
kesimpulannya, inovasi ini bukan sahaja meningkatkan produktiviti, membantu pengguna
memuat turun laporan bulanan malah dapat memudahkan pihak pentadbiran untuk membuat
rujukan keberadaan penjawat awam.

1.0 PENGENALAN

Arus perkembangan dalam bidang teknologi memberi impak yang besar kepada dunia
pada hari ini. Pertumbuhan dalam bidang teknologi ini akan terus meningkat dari semasa ke
semasa tanpa ada had penghujungnya. Hal ini menjadikan dimensi dunia berwajah baru seiring
dengan perkembangan zaman pada abad ke-21. Pelbagai inovasi dihasilkan demi kemudahan
kepada manusia untuk menjalani kehidupan seharian. Begitu juga dengan penghasilan inovasi
WBFlexi Reminder ini, memberi kemudahan kepada pengguna untuk menjalani kehidupan
seharian adalah tujuan utamanya.

Pekeliling Perkhidmatan Bilangan 5 Tahun 2019 telah menetapkan pelaksanaan waktu
bekerja fleksi (WBF) di agensi Kerajaan Persekutuan. WBF adalah merupakan masa bekerja
yang fleksibel di mana pegawai diberi fleksibiliti untuk hadir bekerja dalam tempoh waktu masuk
dan waktu pulang yang ditetapkan, dengan syarat memenuhi tempoh waktu bekerja sehari. WBF
diperuntukkan kepada pegawai Perkhidmatan Awam Persekutuan yang sebelum ini mengguna
pakai Waktu Bekerja Berperingkat (WBB).

Selaras dengan pelaksanaan ini, WBFlexi Reminder telah dibangunkan untuk
melengkapkan WBF. Memberikan peringatan dan notifikasi kepada pengguna bahawa waktu
berkerja harian telah mencukupi (9 jam). Ianya juga memudahkan pengguna mencapai laporan
keberadaan pengguna pada setiap bulan. Capaian terhadap aplikasi ini adalah menggunakan
telefon pintar Android. WBFlexi Reminder membolehkan pengguna merekod masuk dan keluar
mengikut tempoh waktu yang ditetapkan. Aplikasi ini dibina bagi memastikan pengguna peka
akan waktu masuk dan pulang bekerja

Rasional membangunkan WBFlexi Reminder adalah untuk memastikan pengguna
memaksimakan penggunaan masa serta meningkatkan produktivi. Secara langsung
meningkatkan integriti penjawat awam.

2.0 PENYATAAN MASALAH

Pengguna (penjawat awam) sering tidak mengingati waktu masuk bekerja dan menjadi
masalah kepada pengguna sekiranya ingin pulang bekerja kerana pengguna tidak pasti adakah
sudah cukup jam bekerja (9 jam) pada hari tersebut.

Selain itu, pengguna juga tidak peka untuk merekod keberadaan pengguna seperti
bercuti, menghadiri kursus dan sebagainya.

WBFlexi Reminder dibangunkan adalah untuk membantu pengguna merekod waktu masuk
dan keluar pengguna ketika di pejabat dan luar pejabat. Dengan adanya aplikasi ini, rekod waktu
masuk dan keluar kerja serta keberadan setiap hari dapat dicapai dengan mudah dan pantas.

3.0 OBJEKTIF INOVASI

Objektif bagi inovasi ini adalah seperti berikut:

3.1 Memastikan pengguna peka akan waktu masuk dan pulang bekerja.
3.2 Memudahkan pengguna untuk merujuk laporan bulanan keberadaan dan dapat

memuat turun laporan tersebut.
3.3 Memaklumkan (notifikasi) pengguna waktu pulang bekerja mengikut tempoh

yang ditetapkan.

4.0 CIRI-CIRI INOVASI

WBFlexi Reminder merupakan sebuah projek inovasi yang mempunyai nilai tambah dan
ciri-ciri terkini yang bersesuaian dengan keperluan pada masa kini. Antara ciri-ciri yang ada pada
WBFlexi Reminder ini adalah:

4.1 Ianya bercirikan mesra pengguna di mana aplikasi ini tidak memerlukan
pemahaman yang rumit untuk mengendalikannya (User-Friendly).

4.2 Cara pengendalian WBFlexi Reminder ini mudah dan ringkas serta boleh
digunakan oleh sesiapa sahaja (Simple Interface).

4.3 WBFlexi Reminder merupakan sebuah apps yang menggunakan aplikasi
smartphone (Android based untuk versi Beta).

4.4 Saiz fail Android Application Package (apk) yang kecil serta dapat berfungsi
secara tanpa menggunakan sambungan internet (Offline application).

4.5 Ia boleh diguna pakai untuk semua penjawat awam yang mengambil Waktu
Bekerja Flexi (PP Bil.5/2019).

5.0 CARA OPERASI
Aplikasi ini disediakan secara percuma kepada pengguna. Capaian terhadap aplikasi ini

adalah menggunakan telefon pintar. Pengguna akan rekod masuk dan keluar di apps yang telah
dibina. Aplikasi tersebut akan merekod waktu masuk dan balik yang dimasukkan pengguna.
Notifikasi akan dihantar apabila masa jam kerja telah mencukupi 9 jam. Pengguna boleh
memasukkan catatan ringkas di ruangan yang disediakan bagi mencatat keberadaan pengguna
jika perlu

Pengguna cuma perlu menekan butang Start setelah mereka merakam waktu masuk kerja
melalui mesin perakam waktu rasmi pejabat masing-masing.

bekerja pengguna (count up). Masa masuk direkodkan dengan tulisan berwarna hijau dan waktu

minimum untuk pulang dengan tulisan merah dipaparkan.

7.0 IMPAK INOVASI

Projek inovasi mempunyai impak yang sangat besar. Antara impak inovasi ini:

7.1 Produktiviti kerja meningkat.
7.2 Memaksimakan penggunaan masa.
7.3 Meningkatkan integriti penjawat awam.
7.4 Memudahkan pengguna untuk merujuk rekod keberadaan.
7.5 Mudah di bawa kemana-mana sahaja.
7.6 Mengatasi masalah lupa waktu masuk dan keluar kerja.
7.7 Boleh digunakan oleh semua penjawat awam yang menggunakan waktu kerja

flexi.

8.0 CADANGAN PENAMBAHBAIKAN

Maklumbalas pengguna akan dikumpulkan dan digunakan dalam mengemaskini (update)
aplikasi WBFlexi Reminder agar ianya dapat menepati kehendak dan keperluan pengguna.
Seterusnya, peringkat moneytize menjana pendapatan melalui pengiklanan aplikasi yang dimuat
ke Google Playstore. Prospek bagi WBFlexi Reminder amatlah besar memandangkan saiz sektor
penjawat awam yang ramai, lebih 600,000 penjawat awam tidak termasuk sektor perguruan,
keselamatan dan kesihatan. Terakhir, mungkin boleh dipertimbangkan untuk aplikasi ini
diperkembangkan ke platform iOS. Walaupun bilangan pengguna yang kecil namun terdapat
permintaan untuk WBFlexi Reminder bagi platform iOS.

9.0 KESIMPULAN

Inovasi WBFlexi Reminder memenuhi keperluan penjawat awam seluruh Malaysia
yang menguna pakai waktu bekerja flexi. Ianya sangat efektif kerana dapat memastikan
pengguna peka akan waktu masuk dan pulang bekerja serta dapat merujuk rekod keberadaan.
Inovasi ini memberi manfaat kepada semua penjawat awam.

mempunyai amali tentang pemasangan komputer peribadi. Di Kolej Komuniti Ampang, Encik Hafiz
Bin Baharuddin dan pensyarah kedua En Mohd Farizal Bin Marzuki ditugaskan mengajar modul
ini kepada pelajar semester 1 STT. Penulisan ini adalah disasarkan untuk menunjukkan tutorial
cara memasang komputer peribadi dan kelebihannya.

Komputer menjadi sangat penting apatah lagi di dalam Norma baru tahun 2020 dimana seluruh
dunia sedang bertarung dengan virus Covid 19 yang tidak terlihat oleh mata kasar. Di dalam
pekerjaan, kita melihat mesin juruwang layan diri, pegawai di pejabat, guru-guru mahupun
perkhidmatan awam wajib menggunakan komputer. Di dalam komputer peribadi, rekabentuk
khusus dengan kapasiti simpanan sangat besar hingga ke komputer gaming dengan kemampuan
pemproses canggih dan boleh didapati dalam pelbagai jenama Dell, Acer, Lenovo, Asus dan
sebagainya. Pengeluar perkakasan juga menyediakan komponen yang boleh dipasang sendiri.
Bagi mereka yang belum pandai bagaimana memasang komponen di dalam komputer peribadi,
bolehlah menyemak artikel tutorial berikut bagaimana memasang komputer PC.

Senarai peralatan tools untuk menyempurnakan pemasangan pc

Bahagian / Aksesori yang diperlukan – Komponen PC yang serasi, aksesori dan perisian OS
(Windows 10)

Pemutar skru – Pemutar skru mata Philips. Secara spesifik anda perlukan pemutar yang bersaiz
#2 manakala untuk memasang M.2 cakera keras SSD anda boleh membeli pemutar skru saiz #1.
Panjang pemutar skru adalah ikut kehendak anda. Cuma apabila anda membeli pemutar skru
yang magnetic sangat baik kerana membantu menjadi magnet kepada skru.

Permukaan sesuai – Permukaan besar, luas dan rata seperti meja kecil atau work bench. Jika
lantai mempunyai karpet tidak menjadi masalah janji anda amalkan langkah keselamatan pada
setiap masa.

Cara untuk pembumian diri anda – Bagi menjaga komponen daripada kerosakan disebabkan cas
elektrostatik, anda memerlukan pembumian diri sebelum memegang bahagian dalaman cpu.

Anda boleh gunakan ESD / gelang anti statik atau secara berkala pegang bahagian besi casing
pc. Contohnya, anda boleh pegang kaki meja berlogam, tombol pintu atau pun kabinet fail.

Masa yang mencukupi – Bagi mempelajari memasang komputer peribadi pertama kali anda perlu
beri masa secukupnya dengan cara beransur ansur dan cermat. Masa diperuntukkan mungkin di
antara 3 hingga 4 jam.

Buku manual motherboard – Manual ini sangat diperlukan apabila anda memerlukan secara
spesifik perkara seperti dimana untuk memasang front panel connections dan juga soket RAM
apa serasi dengan RAM yang nak dibeli.

Mengenalpasti Komponen Komputer

Sebelum anda mula memasang komponen di dalam casing, hendaklah mengetahui dahulu
komponen-komponen yang ada pada komputer dan fungsinya. Kebiasaannya, komponen
komputer adalah seperti lcd monitor, Processor CPU, keyboard dan mouse.

Dari komponen disebutkan tadi, CPU memainkan peranan sangat penting dalam menjalankan
perintah dan rutin dalam rangkaian komponen-komponen.

Di dalam CPU casing, terdapat pelbagai komponen penting yang lain contohnya:

1. Motherboard ialah bahagian sangat penting dan berfungsi sebagai penghubung antara
satu komponen dengan komponen yang lain. Pada sebuah motherboard itu anda akan
dapat menjumpai komponen processor, sound caard, video card, hard disk dan lain-lain.

2. Processor ialah cip yang sangat mustahak dipasang pada motherboard. Ia berfungsi
seperti otak komputer. Di dalam memasang komponen, processor sangat mustahak untuk
menentukan berapa cepat dan besarnya kadar pemprosesan data.

3. RAM (random access memory), ia sebagai tempat pemegang sementara data, sebelum
dihantar ke komponen-komponen lain. Ia juga mempengaruhi kecepatan pemprosesan
data dan sangat penting dalam memasang komputer.

4. Hardisk, DVD ROM / Rewriter, VGA card, Sound Card dan Power Supply adalah juga
komponen penting di dalam sesebuah casing komputer.

Sistem Pengoperasian (Operating System)

Satu perkara anda perlu jelas di sini ialah bila anda memasang pc sendiri, anda tidak ada perisian
sistem yang sudah sedia ada dalam cakera keras. Jadi anda perlu membeli perisian Berlesen
daripada Microsoft dan membuat Pen drive USB (bootable usb) untuk install.

Langkah-langkah bagi memasang komponen di dalam CPU casing

1. Pertama sekali adalah menyediakan segala komponen yang perlu. Ini termasuk
processor, monitor lcd dan lain-lain.

2. Kemudian, sediakan komponen di dalam CPU casing seperti motherboard, pemproses
dan RAM yang serasi, cakera keras dan lain-lain komponen. Sediakan juga pemutra skru
Philips, skru, bolt dan thermal paste processor.

3. Langkah seterusnya adalah pasang processor ke motherboard. Perhatikan tanda di sudut
kiri bawah processor dan socket sebelum anda pasang processor.

4. Seterusnya anda perlu memasang kipas processor dengan cucukkannya ke soket
motherboard. Selepas itu anda perlu sambungkan kabel kipas ke motherboard.

5. Tiba masa untuk memasang ram. Pilih ukuran dan jenis RAM yang serasi dengan
processor yang diguna supaya komputer beropearsi di tahap optimum.

6. Sekarang siaplah cpu casing dan berikutnya adalah langkah untuk anda memasang
komputer.

Pemasangan Komponen ke CPU Casing

1. Tanggalkan CPU casing sehingga tinggal casing luar sahaja, pasang I/O shield
yang diambil dari kotak motherboard. Pasang bahagian belakang cpu casing dan pastikan
ia serasi dengan motherboard dibeli.
Kemudian anda pasang motherboard itu (lengkap terpasang processor, kipas heat sink
dan RAM). Cucuk ke lubang bolt dan ketatkan bolt antara motherboard dengan CPU
casing.

2. Kemudian, pasang cakera keras hd atau ssd yang serasi dengan cpu casing. Hard disk
sata senang dipasang skru di kedua dua belah bahagian berjumlah 4 skru kerana rangka
telah tersedia pada cpu casing. Manakala hard disk ssd memerlukan anda membeli 2.5”
ssd inch metal mounting bracket for extra hdd ssd for desktop berharga RM 13.90 di
Lazada Malaysia.

3. Sekarang anda perlu memasang power supply di bahagian luar cpu casing dan
ketatkan skru nya.

4. Setelah siap, sekarang anda perlu menyambung kabel-kabel penting ke
motherboard. Pertama sekali kabel penting ialah Power 24-pin ATX.

5. Disamping itu anda juga perlu memasang kabel Power 4-pin CPU berwarna kuning hitam.
Dan baru lah anda boleh menyambungkan kabel SATA ke motherboard. Satu lagi hujung
kabel SATA and perlu sambung ke cakera keras / ssd.

6. Kini tiba pula masanya anda mengambil satu kabel power sata dan pasangkan ke
cakera keras.Kemudian pasang kipas processor. Seterusnya, pasang kabel dari PPC ke
motherboard mengikut arahan manual.

7. Akhir sekali, sambung pula kabel-kabel front panel ke motherboard mengikut petunjuk
yang disampaikan dalam manual.

Apakah kelebihan memasang komputer peribadi sendiri
Bagi sesetengah orang memasang komponen komputer agak meresahkan tetapi mengikut cara
tutorial ini ia mempunyai banyak keuntungannya. Di bawah ini ialah senarai kelebihan memasang
komponen komputer sendiri : -
1. Boleh pasang sendiri komputer mengikut bajet yang diingini.
2. Memudahkan untuk membuat tuntutan jaminan (claim waranti) kerana beli komponen

sahaja.
3. Mudah untuk buat modifikasi dan upgrade mengikut komponen yang diingini seperti kad

grafik.
4. Boleh pilih sendiri komponen yang disukai.
5. Bila ada kerosakan komponen, lebih senang untuk beli dipasaran komponen yang

1.0 WHAT IS BIG DATA?
In the current digital era, smartphone is the most important devices, and everyone has at

least one as it allows us to be connected and become more compatible with the help of internet
connection. People can access to social media anytime and everywhere as much as they want
to. But, do smartphone user ever wonder, how much data will be generating in the form of text,
phone calls, emails, photos, videos, searches and music every-time? There are approximately 40
exabytes of data get generates every month by a single smartphone user. Now, imagine that
number of data multiplied by billions of smartphone users. That even complicated for human to
visualise it in mind. In fact, it is quite hard for traditional computer system to handle that massive
amount of data and this volume of data what the term referring as Big Data.

In true essence, the term of Big Data is not something that is completely new and already
used since early 1990s, but it is still an enigma to many people. At a first glance, the term is
referring to something large and contain full of information and it does indeed fit to any kind of
data such as bill, excel sheet, letter that contain an information, yet it provides no information on
what Big Data really is.

Big Data is the result of the vast amount of information that flows through today’s digital
environment. Big data characterized as large dataset that continue to expand over the years until
it reaches more than millions of information that will be analysed by computer system rather than
specialists’ conventional methods of revealing patterns and trends that are valuable to markets.
When innovations are smarter, more accessible and user friendly, it transforms industries such
as education, healthcare, manufacturing, infrastructure, financial and more. Progressively, data

around the world.

Let’s imagine at the data that be generated by the internet. Through latest information;

2.0 WHY BIG DATA IS IMPORTANT TO INDUSTRY?

Big data is good business in today's world of trade. By 2020, it's said that for every human
on earth, 1.7 megabytes of data will be generated every second. What's more, Big Data technology
investment is projected to hit a respective year of RM 248 billion. As the digital world continues to
grow, more Big Data metrics are being created from an ever-expanding variety of sources,
meaning companies like yours can drill down and find out what they need to learn about their
customers, both on a mass and individual basis. Information is power in the modern world–and
with big data, business stands to become more powerful than ever before.

A typical example of big data use is social networking sites analytics, which allows corporations
to understand unasked world opinion about marketing initiatives, brands, products, and goods on
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, and other alternative sources where consumers post their
views in open forums. Social media analytics has not only become a leading business driver for
enterprises, but also a channel from which companies can get reliable feedback. Multichannel
feeling and experience of customers has evolved into a primary mechanism for understanding and
influencing public opinion. Social media pressures companies to get customers to lead.

Big Data analytics tools and techniques are growing in demand because of the use of

big data in companies. Organizations may identify new opportunities and gain new perspectives

for the efficient operation of their companies. Such resources help to provide useful knowledge

for better business decision making. By keeping customer attention in mind, the businesses will

strengthen their strategies. Big data analytics are effective in helping operations become more

successful. This helps in improving the profits of the company. Big data analytics tools such as

Hadoop help to reduce the storage costs. These further increases business performance. Data

processing is simpler and quicker thanks to the new analytics tools. This, in effect, leads to faster

time- and energy-saving decision taking. Continuous growth in new customers will increase

business income, which is a major reason for successful start-ups. But it's not an easy job for the

online company or e-commerce shop to draw new and keep old customers. Yet analysing big

data helps target potential customers based on their preferences, behaviours in social media and

search engine habits.

3.0 EVOLUTION OF BIG DATA
Although big data has only recently appeared, the process of gathering and processing

vast volumes of data dates to the early 1960s when the first commercial mainframe computers
were introduced. The studies show period between an early 1960s to 1990s, the data continuous
to grew due to the high cost computers, storage and networks. During this period in the mid of
data growth, the databases was introduced, and the data were highly organized during the time,
mainly to support the operational and transactional information systems. In the early 1990s, the
emergence of the world wide web (WWW) led to exponential data growth and the creation of big
data analytics. Big data and data mining have evolved through three big stages with the start of
the WWW technology.

The term of Big Data was invented by Roger Mougalas, Director of Market Research
O’Reilly Media back in 2005. Yet, the application of big data and the search to understand the
data available is something that has existed for a long time. Although, it may be easy to forget,
our growing capacity to store and interpret information has been a gradual progression – though
things accelerated at the end of the last century, with the advent of digital storage and the internet.

The emergence of ‘Statistics’ are known in the era of 1960s to 1970s where John Graunt
carries out the first recorded experiment via statistical analysis and from the recording, he believes
that it can help to design an early warning system for the plague ravaging Europe back then. Next,
the term of ‘Business Intelligence’ is used by Richard Millar Devens that help to describe the
way Henry Furnese , the banker, had achievement by collecting and analysing information
relevant to his business activities in structured manner.

In the middle of 1970s to 1980s were The Start of Large Data Centers where the data
start to grow bigger and complex and the US Government plans the World’s first data center to
store 742 million of tax returns and 175 million sets of fingerprints on magnetic tape. In 1970, the
IBM mathematician, Edgar F Codd, introduced the framework of ‘Relational Database’. It provides
the data services by storing information in hierarchical format, which easily access by anyone
who are expert in this field.

4.0 BIG DATA APPLICATION IN INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT)

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the hottest buzzword in real world technology, particularly
in the Industry 4.0 field. IoT includes integrating sensors and networking technology to the tools
and systems that people use in the analog environment on a regular basis. IoT is changing the
way companies conduct their business. This will create where the data processing, networking,
and automation are generating developments by linking devices and sensors to the accessible
network. With the IoT-enabled intelligence, devices can be programmed to work simultaneously
on an assembly line to produce output. It can gather data from the devices for the analytics
programs to be processed on the fly. Analytics and the data generated by IoT systems would
make it possible for data scientists and industry to make observations and improvements never
possible.

According to relevant report, about 4.4 trillion GB of data will be generated over the
Internet of Things by the year 2020. This is difficult to fully comprehend. Given the growing number
of connected devices, however, it is not shocking that more than 10 billion sensors and computers
will be connected to the internet by 2020. In addition, both tools can capture, analyse, exchange
and real-time data transmission. Without the data, IoT devices would not carry the functionalities
and capabilities that made them attain so much attention worldwide. The unstructured data are
collected through the internet in IoT, big data for the internet of things therefore requires lightning-
fast analysis with broad queries in order to obtain quick insights from the data to make quick
decisions. Therefore, it's compelling to need big data in IoT.

projects are on the rise to evaluate this data and obtain knowledge that can assist in strategic

schools, homes, hospitals, and others are already growing at an accelerated pace. The underlying
technology that exist nowadays that’s reinventing machines that experience human with machine,
is a branch of artificial intelligence. Innovations anticipate on computer-based vision, speech
recognition, and Natural Language Processing have driven these changes, as have coexistent
scientific and technological advances in related fields. AI also adapt people connecting with
technology. AI applications will help to supervise people’s well-being, alert them to risks ahead,
and deliver services when needed or wanted.

The machine learning is sub system from AI that purposed to teach the machine to learn
the surroundings and use the data to help humans, being a part of physical tools in digital world.
The challenges faced by the country is to handle a huge amount of data along with the rapid
growth of population and use the data to develop a new creation that will help human life easier
and more efficient. The highlight issues that lead the idea of purposes to identify the insight of
machine learning application towards current lifestyle was explained. The process of applying
data analytics methods to particular areas involves defining data types, data models,
classification, clustering methods and applying efficient machine learning algorithms that match
with the data characteristics.

Using Big Data Analytics is also very open to other areas. Multiple industries have
undergone tremendous growth with the use of big data loads. Some of them are finance,

Membanting tulang mudaku,
Menghimpun usaha dibahu kerdilku,
Dengan tangisan dan keringat menampung selautan hiba,
Tiap keluhan dan keringat yang ku seka

Kadang hati ini puas memberontak ingin lari,
Lari seketika dari payahnya kehidupan dunia,
Lari dan jerit sekuat tenaga,
Aku cukup penat,
Ya,
Aku cukup penat...

Walakin
Lakaran angan bermain dibenak ini,
Buat aku sentiasa ingin bermimpi dan berlari menuju ia,
Kaki penuh ranting duri menghenyak kaki halusku,
Menghambat seluruh tenaga mudaku,
Kerana,
Membuatku bahagia itu tidak mudah,
Apalagi membuat orang yang ku sayang bahagia,
Semua itu perlu perjuangan dan pengorbanan

Kedewasaan ini tak menjanjikan yang indah-indah,
Perih adalah teman baik

Puas ku cari terjemahan itu di kamus manusia

Puas ku paksa menyelit jiwa di lautan manusia ini
Tetapi aku tetap tenggelam terkapai tanpa ranting untukku berpegang
Aku tak ingin jalan ini dipermudahkan,
Tetapi berilah aku secebis kekuatan

Peganglah hidupku
