Kendriya Vidyalaya Kanjikode
ANNUAL REPORT
(Presented by Mrs. K Rajeswari, Principal on Annual Day 2017)
“To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also
believe.”
And this is exactly what we are practicing at KV Kanjikode- we act, dream, plan and also
believe that we will accomplish them. No wonder, Kendriya Vidyalaya Kanjikode has been at
the zenith of success in the last Academic Session. The achievements that you are going to
listen to just now, are themselves a proof of the Success Saga of the Vidyalaya.
I begin with the academic achievements of the previous year. The Vidyalaya attained 100%
results in both the AISSCE (Class XII) and AISSE (Class X) Examinations.
The overall Performance Index (PI) of Class XII was 83.7, with the Science Stream getting a
PI of 84 and the Commerce Steam securing a PI of 83.19. In fact the Commerce Stream
topped the Ernakulam Region by scoring the highest PI.
All the records of the Class XII toppers of the Vidyalaya were broken by Navya V, of the
Science Stream, who was declared first not only in the Vidyalaya, but also in the entire
Ernakulam Region, scoring a total of 491/500. She is the second in KVS at the National Level
also. Navya is the School Topper in 4 out of the 5 subjects she had appeared for and that too
with a centum in Physics.
In the Commerce Stream, K. Shweta Sasidharan topped the list with a total of 477/500. She
was ranked fifth in the Region. Like her Science Counterpart, she too topped the school in 4
out of the 5 subjects that she had written.
In order to avoid repetition and to save time, I will be mentioning only the top marks scored by
the Subject Toppers in the different subjects. Their individual names will be read out during
the Prize Distribution ceremony.
English- 98% Hindi- 93%
Physics-100 % Chemistry- 100%
Mathematics- 95% Biology- 99%
Computer Science-99% Informatics Practices-95%
Accountancy- 95% Economics- 97%

who have pursued English as their subject after Class XII, out of sheer interest for the
language.
Special mention has to be made here of the services rendered by Major Navaneeth Gopinath of

Classes for the Senior Secondary students. Mr. Karthik has also donated a set of books worth
Rs.5000/- to the School Library. I would like to thank both of them on behalf of the Vidyalaya

I would be failing in my duty, if I don’t mention my predecessor, Smt. Dr. S. Nalayini, whose
sincere and untiring zeal has been instrumental in raising the Vidyalaya to such great heights.
Her contribution to the development of the Vidyalaya in all fields, is something that should be
appreciated.

I Wish You Were Here
This poem is written from a grandparent's perspective
I have shared both love and care,
Wiped your tears and fears,
Healed your wounded feelings,
Listened to your heart’s pleadings,
I’ve hugged you tighter and ruffled up your hair,
Kissed your forehead when you were near,
Short, so sweet you were to keep,
When you lend emotions, so deep.
The place in your heart, you rent,
Those childish Christmas cards you had sent,
The memorable time we spent,
Fragments me apart, at present.
Your tender scent, I relish,
That sweet accent, I still cherish,
The blossom you spread, those words, unsaid,
Those moments, from my memory shall never perish.
I miss those fights, you defend,
My pain, you attend, the party weekend,
Universally, I wish you were here,
I guess you hear my prayers, dear.

BULLYING: A FORCE THAT MUST BE STOPPED
“The tongue like a sharp knife kills without drawing blood.”
Bullying has emerged in the 21st century as an important issue and there have
been incidents where teasing and bullying have turned deadly. Today, when I
was asked to contribute something for the school magazine, I thought, “Why
not something I have been thinking of for a long time?”.
Bullying is the latest trend that is now being practised by people – starting
from the teens to adults. But I do have a question for all of you, “Is it super cool
to blow someone else’s candle so that you shine better?” I don’t think so.
Imagine a child being called nasty names in a school hallway, or being tossed Sanjana Sundar, XIC
in a school trash can. Just imagine it as YOU yourself. Although life is a journey and a tough ight,
not everyone’s a ighter. Students with power try to harm other students erasing their dignity
and innocence for the entire school life. They push a child into the hole of depression, fear,
anxiety and so and so. Teasing, threatening, hitting, spitting, and embarrassing others in public
places ‐ all these actions may affect someone so badly that you may de initely regret it later. The
effect of bullying on the children is so negative, that it may damage their academic performance.
It may force students to even commit suicide. It harms the students mentally, physically and
emotionally. Once a child is bullied, it is very dif icult for him/her to come out of the effects it
has on the person. These behaviours can be seen in almost every facet of society, but mainly in
schools and speci ically teens and children. Bullying may start as simple as a kid calling another
a name and may escalate according to the environment in which it occurs. Children who
experience any kind of bullying have an increased chance to commit suicide because each one
believes that it is their only chance to escape and stop suffering.
A teenager wakes up and dresses in a fashion comfortable to him. Perhaps the style isn’t the
style that is currently “in”, but nonetheless, it is what this teenager feels good about wearing. He
never expects that he will have to spend the entire day at school, being made fun of, for it.
Somewhere else, in a different state, a different school district, a female doesn’t believe she is
beautiful. She wakes up every day, looks in the mirror and wonders why life is cruel. She heads
11
Vidyalaya Patrika 2017
to school where her belief is validated by the senseless and relentless taunts of her classmates. She
decides later that night that life is no longer worth living. These are scenarios that seem too
horri ic to be true, but they are all too real. Many parents believed that bullying was just simply a
part of growing up. However, it’s more than that and these parents are not willing to face reality
and intervene due to their own personal reasons.
Bullying Is Not Just Part of Growing Up !!!!!
This sort of behaviour is usually direct, but may also be indirect and include verbal harassment,
physical assault, relational and/or cyber maltreatment.
Believe me, this is the worst thing a child could experience at his or her age. At some point during
your childhood, you may have encountered that troubled individual, typically known as the “bully”
that drove fear in your hearts. I want you all to know that Bullying is never right. Never put
someone else down for your own pleasure, because once they are into it, it will cause serious
issues to them and fear is the worst among them. Respect people’s feelings, even if it doesn’t mean
anything to you, it means everything to them.
If you ever ind someone being the victim of other people’s bitterness, insults, teasing, remember
things could be worse. You could be one of them.
SO TOGETHER WE CAN HELP STOP BULLYING! WHY NOT BRING SUNSHINE BACK TO SOMEONE
ELSE’S LIFE.
BE AWARE Theer ha.S ,VII B
Be aware that you desire something
So that you will have the hope
To live ll the next moment.
Be aware that you are wanted by someone
So you can prove the world that
You are worthy to live.
Be aware that you are dreaming
So you can live un l the dream
Is achieved before your eyes.
Be aware that you are not a nobody
So that you will dream
Un l you are a somebody.

THE SECRET BEHIND THE SPARK IN OUR LIVES
(A TRIBUTE to our dear Amma who has stood beside us through thick and thin)
On the second of 1931 December,
A spark shone among the dying embers.
It shone, it sparkled and it glowed,
As it tread along the path that God had sowed.
To a royal clan her lineage can be traced,
To face life with courage, she had been braced.
As among the eight siblings she grew,
Trotting the path of life, that was askew.
A memorable childhood in the lap of luxury,
Far away from the annals of worry,
Step by step, she climbed the ladder,
Each step making her bolder and stronger.
At 22, in wedlock she was tied,
Now there was someone to guide her, by her side,
Someone who stood steadfast with her for 39 years,
To share her joys and to wipe her tears.
Yes, they did make the best couple ever,
Among themselves, they did quarrel never.
The best parents one can ever find,
Strict wherever needed, and otherwise kind.
She easily jelled into the role of a mother,
She was everything for me and my brother.
She has given us invaluable tips about life,
Which has helped us cross obstacles and settle many a strife.
She was a ‘Jack of All Trades’ and a ‘Master of All’, Rugmini Menon
She was there to lift us at each and every fall, TGT English
Her culinary skills we all did relish,
And innumerable fond memories with her, to this day we cherish.
The sweetest Grandma to her grand children she has been,
Narrating stories and anecdotes from the life that she had seen,
Correcting them, whenever they went wrong,
So that they face life, standing tall and strong.
Amma, we are so thankful to God for His Priceless Gift,
That has helped us stride along through any kind of rift,
May God fill your days ahead with health and laughter,
This is a genuine plea from a LOVING SON and a CARING DAUGHTER……….

REMINISCENCE
So early the time has come DAYANIDHA S, XII B
That it’s hard to believe it’s been twelve years.
Rewinding the thought ‘it’s the last year’
Breaks my heart and puts me into tears.
‘Is this the end or a new start?’
It tears us apart and it really hurts.
Oh! How I wish I could’ve all the time in the world
For I’m not done with my school life
With my dear ones who raised me up
And all my dearest ones
With whom I walked hand in hand.
So happy was I then!
It’s really hard to say goodbye
To all those fun, teasing and laughter that we had together.
I’m grateful to all my dear ones
Who have offered me the best moments
That have now become my best memories
That will stay with me forever

BEST TEACHER
Anna Rose Antony, XI-C
A" n Inspiring Teacher is a Rare Gem,
In the Depths of Earth of whom there is a Dearth."
Teachers are the God-gifted people in everyone's life who lead us towards triumph and success.
Really, we can call them as builders of the dazzling future of our nation.
It's true that not every teacher can make an ordinary child dream big and do extraordinary things
and come up in life, at least not in my case. For me, I needed a special teacher for that. Like a
prized possession their teachings and lessons remain in my heart today and forever.
I am blessed with two such superb teachers who guided me and still guide me to pursue the peak
of my dreams. When I first met these teachers inside the four walls of my classroom, I never real-
ized that they would make such a dent in my attitude towards their subject. Though I had a pas-
sion for their subject since my childhood, I never thought of taking it up as my career until they in-
tervened into my life and carved a niche for themselves in my heart. Even though these two
teachers seemed to be strict at first sight, they were never so. Their skills at teaching, sense of
humor, friendliness, patience and easygoingness attracted every single child. They were always
keen to guide and lighten up the path of any student. Good teachers always try their best to shape
the whole life of students through their knowledge, patience, love and care. They burn themselves
to make their students shine like a sun. They always equipped me with lots of knowledge, skills
and positive attitudes so that I never felt lost and was able to pursue the path to my dreams.
Throughout these past years, these two teachers have become my role model. I know many who
have a deep desire to become like them when they grow up. I strongly believe that becoming half
the teacher they are would truly be an incredible achievement. I admire them not only because of
their incredible teaching abilities, but because they have made a difference in my life. They
showed me that hard work pays off and that I should never give up and most importantly, they al-
ways insisted me to leave no stone unturned to reach success. These lessons will surely continue
to have an effect on me throughout my life. These two awesome teachers, whom I was gifted with
were not mere teachers to me. They always were my good friends and I talk to them as one of my
close friends!

TEACHERS
You’re the heart of every, classroom
The soul of every school,
The mind behind the message,
That learning is cool...
Your patience and understanding
Cannot be understood.
Your courage and commitment
Is that of legends untold…
Because of you children
Will have their own voice.
So thank you, dear teachers,
For passing knowledge
Through the years
And shaping us to face this world.

Everything my grandma does
is something special made with love.
She takes time to add the extra touch
that says,” I love you very much.”
She fixes hearts with a kiss and smile
and tells good stories in her style.
It’s warm and cozy on her lap
for secret sharing or a nap.
And when I say my prayer at night,
I ask God to bless, and hold her tight.
Because when it comes to giving hugs
my grandma’s arms are filled with love!

LIFE, AS A SIMPLE STORY TO TELL
I am a great cat lover. So much do I care and respect them, that god has granted me a
blessing which helps me to influence any kitty within seconds!!!
I had about 30-40 kitties in my house in the past, but unfortunately most of them died,
some were stolen and others died in their old age. From these many kitties I had in the
past, I love my Tinku the most, because I find her very unique. I'll tell you about her physique.
She is fat and round like a ball, furry, has round eyes, is 8 inch high and is quite lengthy too....
I play, scream, kick and do whatever I like to do at that very moment with her. I do the craziest
things in the world with her, when we are alone at home...
Sometimes my neighbours would look at me in a very pathetic way, as if I'm an MR!! My
parents are against keeping pet cats at home and reading books at night. But I certainly do
read books without their notice, just because night times are the only free times we have now.
My parents say, "Reading books at night would make you alert and fully awake, so you would
dream at night and would sleep in the morning during the class hours the next day ." But that's
not true .These are their simple excuses for not letting me read books .And my arguments
against these would never be withstood by them. So my parents say nothing these days.
Mistakes are common to man and they do really teach some lessons at times. But some of
them do really make you laugh later. One such incident that makes me laugh out loudly even
today is something funny that happened on an Inspection Day. It was in 2013, that we had a
Surprise Inspection. That day we had our class in the LCD room. After sometime, the
Inspector came to our class. As usual, our class began. She (our teacher) gave a good lecture
on various topics. Later, she started to ask some questions. Fortunately or unfortunately,
majority of the questions were asked to me. I answered some questions, but some others, I
17
Vidyalaya Patrika 2017
couldn't .Then suddenly she asked a question to which I just blurted out the answer.
The question was to narrate any Akbar - Birbal story. I thought no one would raise their
hands, but to my utter disbelief, majority of them raised their hands. Actually I had read
many Akbar- Birbal stories, but that was in my KG's!! Unfortunately, my memory was fading
away, and to my ill luck, I too raised my hand, even after knowing that she would only pick
me. And, Aha!! I was right again. She chose me. I stood up, but couldn't remember any
Birbal story. I smiled at her, but there was no response. So I started narrating the story of
Tenali Rama, replacing every Tenali with Birbal and his son with Akbar. I couldn't control my
laughter. After all we are humans.
I finished my story and looked at my teacher’s eye from which I could clearly read that she

I LET YOU DOWN! TS SNEHA, XII B
A child, I am, as childish as could be, Near me as I rub my happy tear.
Love flattering, being care-free, Ashamed I stand, beside my child-
Roaming about, in a happy-go-lucky way, As the mentor shouts out, he is so wild,
But this craziness forever may not stay. Failure fully fragmented shatters me inside,
The stage in me, has a crush, And I wish I’d not been born, or rather died.
This immediate infatuation makes me blush, In reverence of love, my head, I bow,
Adventure and fun, a play so light, Making a believable, life-long vow,
Emotions and feelings must be caught on tight. That my son and daughter shall stay truthful,
Time has come to bid adieu to my pimple, And spread bosoms to make life beautiful.
But life hasn’t turned any simple, I pray for a future, so fortunate and fair,
Hope still fights its pace with pain, Not to make my days unfair,
Efforts to solve still lie in vain. I live my days lying on a fluffy bed,
Ticks, so fast, brushes moments, Dreaming of Heaven, my last, to rest!
Games, so tricky, torments, I am so sorry; I let you down, my life,
Sweaty and shy, my hands he holds, I couldn’t stay a lust, lest-
Cold, and nervous, I get sold. I would have fought all strife,
Drowning in ache, floating on top, To make my life the best.
Fatigued, I sink and out they pop,
A flush of happiness, a tinge of fear-

We were sold to a wholesaler . He took us

my siblings were sold out to different

opened the wrapper. Oh! Finally I could
breathe some fresh air.
He put me into his mouth he chewed and chewed, it was very painful. His mouth was

folded me and made bubbles out of me. A er chewing me for a long me he spat me on

A PRAYER TO RAIN GOD
Weeping, looking deep into the sky,
Looking deep into the sky,
With dejected eyes, dried up by summer,
Murmuring and praying for the rain god
to appear and the sun to disappear.
Despite, the earnest pleadings
Unmoved by the sufferings, he uttered, “ NO”,
Oh no, I can’t bear it anymore.
Showers, if you don’t come ,
Never shall I visit thy shrine.
I can’t bear it anymore.
For my crops will die soon,
My crops will die soon, if don’t come soon,
Oh rain god, bless us by your
Showers and remove our shivers and fill the rivers.
Come soon, come soon, Let our children play and dance to your tune.

Drishanth M,VIII B
The journey to school started since I was four years old. The first day of my school was a memorable one.
Most of us might have forgotten about our first day in school, but for me it was something so special
that I would never forget.
It was a raining day when I, along with my mother wearing our raincoats in a small kit and a bag,
started our journey to my new world which was magical land from the stories that mom and dad had
told me. It took just 10 minutes for us to reach there.
I was shivering like a small fish pulled out of the water. When I knew that my mom will not
accompany me to meet my mentor and my new lilliputs, tears rolled down on my eyes. There was an
angel waiting for me in her saree, to welcome us.
Even though I hesitated to leave my mother, that princess gave me a kiss in which I had a feeling of
security and care that I usually get from my family. My mom went back and I was with my second
mother as guru. To be frank for me she is the most eminent teacher I have ever seen.
Even today the first word that she told us remains "from today whenever you are here I am your mother
and you are my lovely kids. You can call me mom and we can be together forever.
We didn't even know when the time flew away. During lunch breaks, she used to serve us her food with
her blessed hands. Love was the main ingredient in her food and that made even the bitter gourd as diary
milk. The alphabets and words which she taught rings even now in our ears and thoughts.
I believe that the moral and values that she had taught me made me a good individual, good son and a
good student. To tell about her the words and ink of my pen will not be sufficient. Most of you might
have got Sucha teacher, for me she is more special.

Smell the flowers with your nose, Climb the tallest willow trees,
Look across the meadow way,

Watch a gentle cold stream flow,
When altogether seems sound,
Lay yourself upon the ground,
Take a moment to inhale,

MY INSPIRATION
Inspiration can be found anywhere, but I found it in you.
TEACHER is a person in our life who provides many important things together Indhumathi.P.N, XI-C
with good education. A Teacher means a lot to his/her students. A teacher plays an extraordinary
role in our lives. A child idolizes his/her teacher more than anyone else in his/her life. We all thus
have our role models in our lives, who inspire and motivate us. There is a time in life when you're
growing in many ways, all at a time. If you are lucky, you will get a teacher who you will come to
adore. I had such teacher, at times like my parent and also my best friend. From the time he took
me under his wings, I always felt he saw something in me that no one else ever did and he really
made me realize my potential. He is very kind, gentle, honest, simple, clear -hearted, helpful and
caring. He is intelligent and a master of his subject. This is one quality that impressed all the
students. He is always ready to listen patiently to the problems of the students. He never refuses
help to any child. All these qualities make him not only my favourite, but also the favourite of all the
students. In fact, we feel at ease when he is around. We eagerly wait for his period every day and
feel very sad when he is on leave.
One thing I admire about him is that he is neither partial nor biased. All he demands of his students
is that they have to study sincerely and work hard. He is very dedicated towards his work and
profession. Teachers like him are good examples of simple living and high thinking. Although all my
teachers are fairly good, he is the one teacher I love and admire the most. The country needs more
devoted and dedicated teachers like him. Students work even harder when they have such
inspiring examples before them.

WI SH UPO N A STAR
Alpha Centauri
ME,MYSELF,ME AGAIN
When I came into being, of which I’ve vague memories of, I was just a mass of elements, the
remnants of an explosion, which is still an unexplainable mystery, or maybe as old tales say ‘formed
by wishes of hearts so pure’
I am Alpha Centauri, the super hot handsome star in the so called constellation ‘Centauris’, the second
closest star to earth.
The life of a star, to begin with, is not an easy one and to write about it, is indeed an impossible task.
I don’t know who my parents are. I had a lonely childhood until your sun, Helios came by. Best pals
we were!! I became an uncle, when planets formed around him . But I’ m not that old! Just a few billion
years….It was a time of joy. But that was quite painful too, When I said to Helio that Venus had quite
a ...just thinking about it makes my ‘ooh’ hurt! Do we even have one? Oh! Yes! Yes we do…
Our infamous stories of our notorious activities were known and felt by all. Aunt Andromeda was
always complaining to Uncle Milky who always turned a deaf ear to it!
Teenage was indeed an amusing part in my life. All the incidents were intricately woven into a
tapestry with broken threads and colors.
One of them was our love story. Helio was always the decent one, while I had an eye on many
beauties. Nebula was her name. She was mesmerizingly beautiful . Name anything pretty in this world
I bet she had it. But when I asked her out, she refused. Cute! Shy she might have been . Alas! Torn
apart by discord, that was our fate. My hydrogen still boils when I think about that planet was whirling
around her .After all, how can he?! No offence.
My torn heart was soothed by Calypso. Though nothing like Nebula, she was pretty. She was meant to
be mine. But that’s when all Hades broke loose. Jupiter found out! A Shakespearean tragedy it was …
How I know about him, well, one can’t resist when you name beauties by his characters– Juliet,
Desdemona … I’ m quite familiar with Greek mythology too, like Jupiter Neptune ,Pluto and so on.
If I haven’t mentioned before, I’ m hot, like plasma hot. My body temperature, even my breath is
enough to evaporate your planet. Hydrogen is my blood and I’ll soon run out of it. That's when I heat
up, collapsing my core, Skin expanding, it’s going to hurt a lot ,but it is inevitable.
I’ve seen the birth and death of many stars. My turn will eventually come . I wonder if I’m going to be
a neutron star or a black hole? It’s going to be real cool, like –9000 degrees cool…..
You can’t see me, dear mortals, due to your sky lights. Nor can you see any of my peers these days.
No more kids starting up and wondering why we were winking at them . Wondering if we were really
shaped like a star . That pristine innocence is no more….

SCION OF IKSHVAKU
A BOOK REVIEW
Scion of Ikshvaku is the first book of the Ram Chandra series by Amish
Anuvrata Vijay, XI B
Tripati. The characters of the story are taken from the great epic,
Ramayana . The incidents of the book are related to Ramayana, Mahabharata, and the
present scenario. The author has a wide imagination to weave the history and the present
together.
Ram, the hero of the story, is considered inauspicious to king Dashrath . On the day that
Ram took birth , Dashrath accepts that it was because of his own mistakes that his militia
had lost the war.
Ram and his brothers Bharath , Lakshmana and Shatrugna are taught the lessons in
Science, Maths and Philosophy, along with the
art of warfare in the gurukul of Maharishi
Vaishishta. Later, Ram and Lakshmana are
taken by Maharishi Vaishishta to kill the
Asuras, who interrupted their prayers. After
completing the mission, the brothers Ram and
Lakshmana are taken to Mithila where they
get married to the princesses Sita and Urmila.
After losing at Sita’s swayamwar, Raavan
attacks Mithila with his soldiers and in a
counter attack, Ram is forced to use the
divine weapon, Aswastra, the usage of which is
forbidden to them without the authorization
of the Vayuputras. Ram accepts the 14-years
exile as a punishment for his mistake of
breaking the rules of Lord Rudra . When on
exile, Raavan kidnaps Sita and takes her to
Lanka.
Scion of Ishvaku is an excellent work by
Amish. It seems that the characters in the story have life and it appears like a movie in
one’s mind while reading. Even though most of us are familiar with the story of Ramayana,
there is a lot more in the book which would entertain all.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A LEAF Lakshmi Priya, XI B
I don’t remember the exact day I was born. I just know that one day I realized I could
feel the light on my face and the sweet smell of my mother is very beautiful. All I can
see are her dark brown branches in every direction . I cling tightly to one of them . I
am still very small and fear falling into the unknown below me . I won't be ready to
leave my mother’s care for many months.
I am not up here, alone with my mother. I have many brothers and sisters. We are a
very charming group. We have two handsome wings, green as the day is long. I
fancy we look as beautiful as butterflies, though we are humble leaves. . My cousins
are here as well. They are a different kind of leaf. They’re flat and veiny and look like
nothing as nice as a butterfly . Their mother keeps them soft within her branches, the
same as our mother does.
There is so much to do and we do not grow bored. I dose all day when my cousins
sing a gentle lullaby with the wind. At night my cousins will grow tried and rest until
the sun rises. But my brothers and sisters and I are excited by the night air, We stay
up late watching the great Bear and Hercules . One morning when I woke up, I felt
sore. My siblings were still sleeping, but my cousins were awake. How tall and
strong they looked now. They stood and reached for the sun . I felt sturdier as well.
My grip on Mother had grown powerful and my wings were bright and tough Even
Mother seemed stronger.

GOOD MANNERS
Everyone loves a child who has good manners. Parents and Nandita, VI C
teachers insist on good manners. They do that because children
with good manners are ornaments to the society. Respecting
one’s elders is considered one of the signs of a well mannered
child. Our elders are not just our uncles and aunts. Any old
person deserves respect and we must respect him/her.
Speaking at the proper time is another thing that makes a child well mannered.
So is speaking soft.
We usually greet people and thank others when necessary. But these are often
just words. A person with good manners makes his words sound sincere. Kind
words come from a well mannered person. All people, especially people inferior
to us, deserve our kind words. Words alone are not enough. Deeds must follow
whenever and wherever it is necessary. How is one to acquire good manners?
One gets the first lessons from one’s home. One must begin to practice those
lessons at once. directly or indirectly. Another way is to watch people with good
manners and imitate them.
