FPHS STRATEGIC PLAN 2022 - 2025 1 MESSAGE FROM CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) I would like to congratulate Prof Ahmad Fuad bin Shamsuddin, the Dean and to the other members of the Faculty of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (FPHS) that have successfully produced a 4-year blueprint for the faculty’s future development and progress The faculty has done remarkably well over these few years and even managed to successfully adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic situation in which it managed to avoid a total breakdown of the academic programmes, through teaching and learning processes. Digitalisation innovative in teaching and learning methods are here to stay. Ironically, the Covid-19 pandemic has managed to expedite technical developments in education. We need to continue to be ready for any eventualities in the years ahead. The 4-year strategic plan is a good platform to make us aware and ready for the future. This effort will place us in the forefront of innovative and refreshing methods in delivering health-related education. I wish to convey my thanks to all the members of the faculty for the effort given in preparing this important blueprint and journey of the faculty. . Hisshamuddin Bin Omar Chief Executive Officer/Head of Campus PCMSB/UniKL-Royal College of Medicine Perak

FPHS STRATEGIC PLAN 2022 - 2025 2 MESSAGE FROM DEAN OF FACULTY OF PHARMACY AND HEALTH SCIENCES The Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) WE4Asia Strategic Plan that was developed in 2013 had targeted the university to be one of the top universities in Asia by 2020. It was a commendable effort by UniKL to place itself in the regional university ranking scenario. The next four to five years are very important if UniKL want to move further up the recognition ranking. As one of the institutes of UniKL , the Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) has its role to play in the university’s noble quest for international recognition. IR4.0 is still the main foundation in preparing our students for the future. The Covid-19 pandemic has taught us lessons to be robust and versatile in order to survive in the current VUCA world (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity & Ambiguity). The Faculty of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (FPHS), UniKL RCMP has put up a 4-year Strategic Plan (2022-2025) that emphasises on the continued effort and reliability of the faculty in offering quality pharmacy and health sciences programmes to fulfil market needs. Projects in this plan will be implemented over the four years identified. I hope that the strategic plan will be supported operationally and financially by the university and company. I wish to convey my sincere gratitude to Tuan Hj Hisshamuddin Omar, the CEO and Head of Campus for his unwavering support to the development and progress of the faculty. I would also thank Dr Nour Hanah as chairperson for the retreat, members of the faculty management team, my fellow lecturers, and colleagues as well as the general staff that have been very supportive and involved in the formulation of this strategic plan. Their belief and courage to look into the future are very much commendable and would be the foundation of the faculty’s continued progress. The world keeps on changing, it is important for us to be wellprepared for changes as we cannot compete with others in this academic world if we stand still. We need to realise that we cannot continue to survive on the buoyancy of our past achievements. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fuad Bin Shamsuddin Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy and Health Sciences UniKL-Royal College of Medicine Perak

FPHS STRATEGIC PLAN 2022 - 2025 3 MESSAGE FROM CHAIRPERSON The Faculty of Pharmacy and Health Sciences had successfully organised a retreat to put up a 4-year Strategic Plan (2022-2025). The Faculty of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is obligated to align itself to the performance target of the university as whole. As such this retreat was organised with the aim of planning for the future of the faculty strategically. Alhamdullilah, after 3-day 2-night brainstorming sessions, the 4-year Strategic Plan for the Faculty of Pharmacy and Health Sciences was fruitfully formulated. After its formulation, the hard work begins to ensure that the strategies that have been made are implemented as planned over the next 4 years. The continuous support of the university and institution is crucial and our endeavour is certainly essential for its successful implementation. This strategic plan is by no means the end of the road as it is a living document that needs continuous relook and update. Finally, I would like to convey my sincere thanks to Dr Lee Wing Hin and Madam Rasida Sahraduin for assisting me in producing this document. Dr Nour Hanah Othman Deputy Dean / Chairperson Faculty of Pharmacy and Health Sciences UniKL Royal College of Medicine

FPHS STRATEGIC PLAN 2022 - 2025 9

FPHS STRATEGIC PLAN 2022 - 2025 10 The Faculty of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (FPHS) has initially established a 6-month strategic initiative for July – December 2021 at the behest of Datuk Dr Roziah Omar, the new President/CEO of UniKL (appointed in March 2021). Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, the faculty was able to accomplish the following activities as shown in the figure below. The progress chart for this initiative is shared in Appendix I. Figure 1: Main activities achieved in the 6-month strategic initiative In the beginning of 2022, the faculty reviewed the achievements of the 6-month strategic initiative of 2021 and decided to put in place a four-year strategic plan which would include the unachieved targets of the previous initiatives. This report summarises the 2022 – 2025 strategic plan of FPHS, UniKL RCMP in fulfilling the faculty’s aspirations to become the leading entrepreneurial pharmacy and health sciences education provider as well as the university’s vision and mission. Jointly organised a seminar with the International, Industrial and Institutional Partnership Department for the Herbal and Cosmetics in July 2021 Organised the 3rd International Conference of Pharmacy and Health Sciences from 2-3 August 2021 Prepared for the online re-accreditation exercise for Bachelor of Pharmacy Programme (B. FPHS STRATEGIC PLAN 2022 - 2025 15

FPHS STRATEGIC PLAN 2022 - 2025 16 The UniKL WE4Asia Strategic Plan that was developed in 2013 has targeted the university to be one of the top universities in Asia by 2020. It was a commendable effort by UniKL to place itself in the regional university ranking scenario and has finally ended. The next four to five years are very important if UniKL wants to move further up the recognition ranking. Datuk Dr Roziah Omar has envisaged a new direction in which recognition at the international level is due for the university. Three main emphases have been highlighted as important thrusts in UniKL’s quest for international recognition. They are; i. Enhancement of (academic & research ) programmes Academic and research programmes should continue to be strengthened and enhanced to remain competitive. This point is also important to guarantee these programmes fulfil the current as well as future needs of the industry. ii. Building reputation/Internationalisation Programmes should be of quality so as to boost local as well as international reputation. A respectable reputation portrayed will promote student interest to study in the institution and also facilitate academic and research collaboration between institutions and industries. iii. Sustainability Financial sustainability is important for the continued growth of institutions and programmes. Sound financial reserves would be useful for future development of the institution The new direction and the main thrusts of programme enhancement, building reputation and financial sustainability that were announced by the President were cascaded down to the institutions of UniKL. These main thrusts are the foundation of FPHS four-year strategic plan envisioned by the dean in support of the greater quest of UniKL.
