Teaching And Academic Achievement

Online classes provide a different experience from the traditional classes. My online
classes helped me set daily goals and checklists which allowed me to prove that I can work
efficiently and independently.
Accomplishing small goals every day through online classes has created a portfolio and
keeps motivating me. It’s much easier to focus on what we're doing with the right
environment.
The online virtual environment provided by our college has created a great impact, as
professors use presentations and videos to teach lessons. Just like a traditional classroom
setting, I take notes, refer books and highlight important points which help me remember
and retain the pieces of information. Technologies like ‘Moodle’ and ‘Google classroom’
have helped me digitalize my Studies. These platforms help me navigate around my
classroom tabs, where weekly assignments are assigned and activities are uploaded. Time
charts and calendar schedules provided by the professors are linked to the tabs, which
keep track of the daily work.I often attend online quiz sessions structured by lectures,
which help ease my study and check my knowledge. With online classes, I do all the work
at my own pace, as long as I meet the deadlines and participate in all the activities meant
for me. This means much less pressure and tension. The most beneficial factor is that, I am
able to make sufficient time to opt for additional online certificate courses, correlated with
my subjects.

ONLINE SESSIONS –AN EXPERIENTIAL
JOURNEY

I’m Lional Sujin from II Mech A(2019-2023). I want to share the experience of online class
which was conducted during the lockdown period. It was a good move to switch to online
classes from the traditional classroom. I attended most of the classes conducted by our
faculty.
All faculty in the last semester were very prompt to class and the way of teaching was
good. They took it very seriously and encouraged us to score more in the model exam.
They explained clearly all the topics in every unit in such a way that a student could
understand though it's not easy to teach as best as in a traditional class, in spite of
both them and us being pushed to the online classes due to the current situation. They put
a lot of effort by sending PPTs, notes, question banks and related videos which were very
useful to us, with the zeal to help us score better. Literally many students had problem
accessing moodle, Gmail etc, having poor network connectivity. As a next step, they gave
assignments and MCQ tests and seminars to help score our internals. Finally, we
approached our first-year HoD to conduct the test for each unit which eventually made it
easy to do the model exam to our best. As a last work, each faculty gave two Anna
university question papers, as assignments, to solve.

The entire faculty in the last semester
were caring and kind-hearted. I hope and wish that the same kind of teaching will continue
in the second year also.

E-LEARNING -AN EFFECTIVE WAY OF
SELF-PACED LEARNING

Ever since the onset of covid-19, classes have been disrupted for the fear of contracting
the virus. Therefore, all educational institutions resorted to online mode of education.
During these unprecedented times, our college had taken great efforts to complete the
remaining syllabus through online mode. I was privileged to undergo many free courses
like COURSERA, EDX, GUVI etc. through platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, MS teams. I
learnt a lot through these courses and found it to be very useful. Even though it was a new
experience, I got used to this learning experience quickly. These online courses gave full
control over one’s own pace of learning.
The online classes also known as e-learning, though were challenging, yet an effective way
of learning. During this lockdown it kept me engaged without wasting any time. Online
learning is relaxed and enabled to complete all assignments, quizzes, projects on time.
However, few students encountered challenges like poor internet connectivity and
irregular power supply. But overall, I really enjoyed my online classes/courses as it has
given me a different exposure and knowledge. At this juncture I want to thank all my
esteemed Professors for their hard work in preparing study materials for online study.

MY EXPERIENCE DURiNG LOCKDOWN

This pandemic changed our lives considerably and the teaching-learning is also changed a
lot. I would like to share some of my experiences during this lockdown and my interaction
with the virtual world. I am Esther Pearlyn, pursuing mechanical engineering. Our college
encouraged us to enroll ourselves in various online courses and helped us become
productive in spite of various constraints. Since we were unable to meet people physically,
my college had adapted to the digital platform of teaching and learning. LICET analyzed all
of its students for their ability to interact online and came up with a schedule of online
classes. It was a new kind of experience for both the teachers and the students. Our jaws
dropped at the reliability the faculty had on us and the way we were mentored. Various
platforms, like moodle, you tube, google, etc involved in our learning procss, made it
effective. We had more free time and various fun-filled activities to revise our topics. This
kind of methodology may be new but we are trying and working together, both the faculty
and the students to make it fruitful.
