Black people are less likely to get skin cancer—
but diagnoses still happen, and by then, the
disease is usually in an advanced stage, mean-

How to help.
How to get help.
Black mental health matters. Here are some awesome resources:
• Therapy for Black Girls can connect you with a therapist who actually
*gets it*. (The platform also produces a podcast hosted by a licensed
psychologist and provides virtual support to its membership community.)
• Inclusive Therapists has a national database of counselors who serve
marginalized communities; some provide reduced-fee telehealth sessions.
• The National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network also has a national
directory—organized by region—that can help you find a therapist.
• Activist and writer Rachel Cargle’s Loveland Foundation offers financial
assistance for therapy to Black women and girls.
• The free Safe Place app focuses on the Black community and includes
advice on how to cope after incidents of police brutality plus techniques
to help you deal with stress.
Allyship matters too. Here’s how to be a better one:
• Donate to The Bail Project, a national nonprofit that provides free bail
assistance to people short on cash, or to National Bail Out, a Black-led
activist collective that’s working to fight pre-trial detention and mass
incarceration.
• Give to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, an organization
that’s been fighting for civil rights and racial justice for nearly a century.
• Support one of the therapy resources mentioned above.
• Volunteer for or give money to Black Girls Code.
• And whatever you do, VOTE.
