Dear Cycling Canada and the Bid Selection Committee,
It is with palpable excitement that I submit this letter to show Alberta Bicycling Association’s
support of The Process and Tourism Calgary’s submission to bring the 2018 and 2019 National
Canadian National Road Championships to the city of Calgary, Alberta.
The city of Calgary has shown great strides in embracing the culture and environmental benefits of
cycling in this new day and age. Alberta in general, and Calgary in particular, have a great history of
holding National Championship level events, including the 2017 Canada Soccer U-15 National
Championships.
Alberta has seen a great rise in the interest generated by cycling, and the Calgary has devoted a large
number of resources to making the city more bike friendly, and we have a desire to see this trend
continue. With the greater interest, the Alberta Bicycling Association hopes that this opportunity to
host the National Championships can cement an even higher level of interest within the Province of
Alberta.
The Alberta Bicycling Association’s primary focus is to advocate, develop, and facilitate bicycling for
Albertans. We believe that the time has come for Alberta to take its rightful place on the National
stage of Canadian cycling destinations.

2019 Cycling Canada Road Race National Championships to our fair city.

to hold their National Canadian National Road Championships 2018 & 2019 in the fine city of
Calgary. The Crankmaster’s club of Calgary has long been eager to have western Canada hold such a
prestigious event, and we are more than happy to be the sponsoring club to help make that dream a
reality.
Calgary has a robust community of dedicated cyclists, ranging from the recreational to the
competitive, and all the way to an Olympic level. Calgary is home to a great number of Olympic
cyclists, and we wish this trend to continue. Cycling holds a special place in the hearts of this

have here in Calgary.
