The history of OCPM dates back to September 23, 1916 . The ADMINISTRATION 4

D r. Harmolin , who succeeded Dr . Biddinger as Dea n, envisioned a
fa cility designed prima ril y for the teaching of Chiropody . In 1931 , As OCPM celebrates its 72nd a niversary in 1988 it has gradu a ted

T he Class of 1932 was the last class to graduate with a two yea r
curriculum. Therefter Podia tric Medicine beca me a three year pro-
gram . In 1938 , OCC increased its entrance requi rements. Appli-
cants' had to have at least one yea r in an accredited undergraduate
college. After completion of the three yea r chiropody curriculum the
gradua te received the degree of Doctor of Surgica l Chiropody. Fol-
lowing World War II , the curriculum at OCC increased to a four
year program.

OCC was renamed OCPM in 1963, soon after the a tional Asso-
ciation of Chiropodist, became known as America n Podi a tric Associ-
ation. O CPM's enrollment grew to 198 tudents in 1965-1966.

OCPM made the move to it present location at Ea t 105th St. a nd
Carnegie on July 22, 1976. In add ition the Cleveland Foot Clinic was
established to provide training to OCPM "s 488 students a nd provide
podiatric ca re to the community of Cleveland .

There have been six president a t O CPM since the college was
fou nded. Lester Sieman , M .D. , foun der, served as president from
191 6 to 1940 when he was ucceeded by anot her founder , Ma x
Harmol in DPM, who served from 1940 until 1952. B.C. Egerter
DPM held the office of president from 1952 until Max Pomera ntz
M.D. took office in I969 . Dr. Pomera ntz served for one yea r when
ucceeded by Abe Rubin DPM , who erved from 1970 to 1985.
