Look to this day, for it is life.
The very life of !ife.
In its brief course lies all the realities
and verities of existence;
The bliss of growth,
The splendor of action,
The glory of power-

For yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow
is only a vision .
But today, well lived, makes every yesterday
a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a
vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.

YEARBOOK ADVISOR

DEDICATION

TO EACH MEMBER OF THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 1971,
CONGRATULATIONS!

You have reached the summit. Although this particular summit
merely climaxes what has been a scaling of numerous didactic peaks,
its conquest represents, more than the attainment of a new height.
It represents, a.nd perhaps of greater significance, a higher level of
maturity, freedom, and responsibility. Life, as each of us individually
views it, is a progression of valleys and peaks. As we are able more
maturely to pass through the valleys of our being, the more meaning-
ful and beautiful do the peaks become. And as we slowly mature-
and slowly it is, for maturation is priced experience, paid only with
the coins of time-the less deep do the valleys become and the easier
is the ascent of each peak beyond until the path on which we traveling,
slowly becomes one of level, high ground.

The self-awarded freedom which results from self-imposed matura-
tion brings with it the price of individual responsibility, for even free-
dom has its price. As you become more and more responsible to your
own true self, the more nearly attuned you become to the responsibil-
ity you have to those you serve; your patients, your colleagues, super-
iors, families, community, country, and the God you understand.

And so it is with no small amount of pleasure, on behalf of all of
us who have had the opportunity of assisting you in the attainment of
the pinnacle of your academic goal, I extend to each of you our con-
gratulations on the occasion of this achievement.

ABE RUBIN, D.P.M.

Vice-President and Dean

Man's foot " is the most distinctive human part of the whole of his anatomical make-up" (F. Wood
Jones) enabling him to stand and walk erect. This posture distinguishes him from God's other creatures.
It freed his hands to work and develop skills, and gave his eyes greater vistas for wide ranging experi-
ences leading to his highly developed brain. Reduce or eliminate this ability to stand erect and walk
about, and you undermine his status as a human being.

The foot is not only a part of the body, the individual is a member of his family and community . The
psychological effects of a foot problem may be more significant than the physio-pathological.

Podiatry is more than foot care. It is concerned with more than the medical implications of poor foot
health . Good podiatry can provide a boost to the psyche, and it makes important socio-economic con-
tributions.

We deliver you to your chosen professional world, confident that you will be "good podiatrists." And
we anticipate leadership in service to your patients and their families , your profession and your commu-
nity.
