1987 try courses that required hours of study all were characteristic
of junior year. This did not seem to inhibit the Class of 1987,
though. The individuals in this class stepped right into stride and
hit the books. The juniors budgeted their time well thereby
finding time for extra-curricular activities. They demonstrated
excellence in both academic and athletic areas. Now that
they have overcome their most difficult year in high school,
the juniors are now ready for a smooth transition into their
senior year.

Class Having learned the significance of class unity in their first
Of year, the sophomore division swung into action from the
1988 very start of the school year. They knew what lay ahead
for them - a year filled with many exciting activities as
well as more challenging subjects, such as biology, ge
ometry, and U.S. History. The sophomores found that by
using their time well, they could maintain a healthy bal
ance between extra-curricular activities as well as aca
demics.

Toward the end of the year, The Class of 1988 exhibited
a sense of responsibility at the traditional Sophomore-
Senior Brunch when they provided the Seniors with a well-
planned event, complete with entertainment. The Soph
omores have learned the essence of being well-bal
anced individuals and will carry this with them into their
Junior year.

Class The freshman class stepped onto campus early in Sep
Of tember and realized that something was amiss. Where
1989 was that class unity the upperclassmen seemed to
have? The class of 1989 was not going to stand by and
have the year pass them by; they became involved.

Starting with Acquaintance Week and Field Day activi
ties, the freshman division stood proud and was recog
nized as a class with character. From then on, involve
ment improved with Christmas Aloha and Homecoming
activities showing that the Class of 1989 had gained
experience and the true power of class unity. With these
assets, the Class of '89 moves on to become Super Soph
omores.

Faculty 83

Faculty And

Administration

The faculty here at Maryknoll — a dedicated staff of caring
individuals, spent this past year working hard to influence as
well as instill knowledge in the new generation of students.
Besides teaching classes or working in an office all day, the
faculty also spent many hours in conferences and meetings
every Friday afternoon. Many teachers who served as advi
sors to the various activities on campus also came to school
on Saturdays and even on some Sundays to share their time
and talents in coaching in speech, dancing, journalism, the
atre, as well as the variety of sports at school. The excep
tional faculty at Maryknoll truly deserves recognition for a
job well done!
