“Our Lady wears a crown in a strange country,
The crown He gave
But she has not forgotten to call her old companions
To call and to crave . .
G. K. Chesterton
We, the graduates of 1961, would like to dedicate

our memory book to the “ Woman” in all our lives—
our most Blessed Mother— and to the memory of
our Captain Abraham Ahakuelo, the first anniversary
of whose death we will be observing in a few months.
It was our rare God-given privilege to have been as
sociated with the “ Captain”— Professor of Military
Science and Tactics in 1959-1960. The love, admira
tion and respect we held for him as teacher and friend
is not confined to earth and time but will exist for us
now and in that far time —

“When MaryknolTs own Queen
W ill reunite when the victory’s won
Her Knollers from every land”

3

MARYKNOLL

To you our loyal hearts we bring,
M aryknoll, our M aryknoll.
Thy fam e shall through the ages ring,
M aryknoll, our M aryknoll.
As thy dear sons and daughters true,
W e’ll keep ideals we learned from you
W e’ll love you then as now we do,
Alma Mater, M aryknoll.
We love thy dear m aroon and gold,
M aryknoll, our M aryknoll.
Our deep devotion it shall hold,
M aryknoll, our M aryknoll.
In days when we are far away
W e’ll lift our faithfu l hearts to pray
That God may bless thy every day,
That God, may bless thee every day,
Alma Mater, M aryknoll.

St. Mark P
A
Dear Graduates, L

Tom orrow the w orld will be yours. What will you do with it? 9
In these crucial times your inheritance posits a double responsibility:
your own sanctification and the sanctification and salvation of your
fellow men.

Your prim ary duty, however, is to nurture the eternal life of your
soul, to grow in likeness to God. If you ever become estranged from
God, you can then label yourself a failure. The sole criterion of success
will be your growth in God’s life through the Holy Sacrifice of the
Mass and the frequent reception of the Sacraments. The more you bring
God into your own personal living whether it be at school, home, busi
ness, or military life, the more convinced you will become of the need
for a positive Christian force in the world of today.

In addition, the complete, the fulfilled Christian wishes to share
the gift of God’s love with his fellow men. He “ burns” to be an apostle,
to give God to others. The dynamic of the Mystical Body is the unity
of love: God and man; man and man. As never before, a pressing
urgency impels you to pray for all the world, go to all the world, and
teach all the world. Upon this basic Christian principle rests the whole
reason for your being an apostle.

The Apostolic Maryknoller, therefore, will never neglect his own
nor his neighbor’s sanctification. Any one who disregards either will
remain an enigma. Both are important; both are vital.

Yes, what will you do with your world?

Prayerfully in Our Lady of Maryknoll,
Sister Michael Marie

In a few short months we of Junior A will i

before we close this school year, let us recall HARRIET
NORMA some of our past memories, garnered from LLM
PAIAINA dances, studies, and good times had together. Student

A.S.M. Junior Class Day was climaxed with the Councillor
Representative crowning of G. Ching and J. Vierra, as King
and Princess respectively, on the Class Day ZAC
Court. Our contagious spirit and fine leadership LASTIMADO
resulted in the inspiring Junior Christmas Play,
“A King Is Born.” A.S.M.

Cheering our Sr. Varsity Team, were our
songleaders, G. Cabral and P. Moad. C. Kanai,
L. Cashman, W. Fernandes, F. Souza and B.

ketball team.

Though the year is finished, the memory of
it will be cherished— and we now look forward
to September when we will be “ Mighty Seniors.”

December found us “ putting Christ back into

depicting the Nativity in song, choral-speaking, Representative

in the exquisite decorations for our Maryknoll

Part of our Maryknoll dream was finally
realized as we watched the outgoing Seniors in
the beautiful candle-light procession of Class

graduation, we saw ourselves ' twelve months
from now— the outgoing Seniors of ’62.
