Someone once said,
better to have tried and failed,
than to never have tried at
all.” The 1976 varsity hockey
team probably understands
this statement better than
anyone. During the weeks^^of
summer pracTice the team
was highly optimistic as to
our chance of winning the
league championship, but
these hopes never material
ized. Most of the girls had been
playing together for the last
three or four years under the
coaching of Miss Robinson.
She dedicated much , of her
time and effort to the team.
Even though we did not win as
much as we anticipated, the
season was hot a wasted one.
The friaids we made, the ex
perience we gained and the
enjoyment of the sport will
forever stay in our memories.

Seven And One Half Cent Raise

“ I f ig u r e d it o u t . ”
The curtain has opened and closed for the last time and a big sign of content
ment goes up from the backstage area. The polished performance of "Pajama
Game" that the audience saw was due to much hard work mixed with hysteria.
(Every play needs its fair share of hysteria.) To give a few examples: How do you
work with a backwards set? Not only was the set backwards, but it fell apart when
you walked past it. Does your phone ring after you pick it up? Ours did. Have a
dress rehearsal and not be able to hear your music cue because of a 10 x 15 foot
movie screen soaking up the sound. Some theaters work by candlelight, others
use the convention of electricity: we were different. For a period of time, we used
sunlight to illuminate our stage.
The Class of 'll has experienced this madness for the last time. The Theater

voice of Wendy Waters and the humor of Heather Vorhees. They leave, however,
with the hope that fresh, new talent will be discovered in the halls of Delhaas High

DEBATE AND FORENSICS

Something unique happened
this year to the debate and
speech teams; we grew. The
growth is unique in that it in>
voived many underclassmen and
alot of talent. This year we saw
the arrival of ninth and tenth
graders who enjoyed poetry
interpretation along with the
more challenging events such
as debate and dramatic interpre
tation. Such new talent when
combined with two champion
ship debaters, as well as other,
experienced speakers, made the
team very Successful. Thanks
to the work of the team mem

the team is now well respected.
