EVENT WRITEUP
Over the years Baja has grown in popularity and has become a bigger event nationally. It serves as a
platform for young engineering talent to showcase their skills and acquire a real life experience while
overcoming obstacles and challenges. The Baja SAE Series is an event for the undergraduate
engineering students, organized globally by the Society of Automotive Engineers, USA. The event,
which is in its 12th edition this year, tasks students to conceptualize, design, build, test and validate a
single-seater four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle to take part in events that aim to test their endurance.
The off-road buggies that make the final cut are put through a ton of punishing events at NATRAX
(National Automotive Test Tracks), Pithampur near Indore. Team Redline Racing from Rajalakshmi
Engineering College, Thandalam made a breakthrough by reaching the final endurance run and the
dynamic events such as maneuverability and acceleration after 11 long years. Ever since their last
podium finish in the year 2008 with Team Isotopes, the college racing team had been having a hard
time to secure a spot in the endurance run. The team this year had burnt the midnight oil and this has
certainly provided them scintillating results. The team successfully completed 12 laps of endurance
without any breakdowns and earned an overall rank of 65 out of 120 teams. The team also saw success
in the static events by being in the top 50 spots. Hurdles have made the team stronger and their
hunger for perfection has certainly helped them in their goal to race victorious.

ATRIUM TRIUM ––COLLEGE LITERARY CLUCOLLEGE LITERARY CLUBB
Atrium is the Literary Club of Rajalakshmi Engineering College that promotes language, literature, and
expressionism. It fills the students with mind intriguing fun and brings out the talents in them. Atrium
has conducted 9 meets since 18.07.2018 with the final one on 01.02.2019. All the Atrium meets
ensured that it had a proper engagement of the students and the utilization of the time to its fullest.
The Club in association with REC Debating Union, also conducted War Of Words – WoW on 11
February 2019.
The first meet of Atrium focused on two entertaining and thought-provoking events like Channel
Surfing and Voice Over, with its theme being expressionism. The second meet of Atrium had its theme
to be the Pop Culture with students actively participating in the event, Shipwreck. Comedy was the
theme for our third meet. It had Flash Fiction as the event, which enthralled the students. The fourth
meet of Atrium was based on the theme Sale. There was a short Spell Bee on various famous world
brands which was followed by a session where the students opened up about themselves and it
provided a platform to express their talents and share their experiences. The fifth meet was the very
first meet with the first year students who joined the college in the academic year 2018. The students
were given with a cheerful and enjoyable atmosphere which happened to be their first interaction
with Atrium. The sixth and seventh meets brought in the first year students and amazed them with
events like Adzap and Back to Schooling related events. The eighth event was a writing workshop
conducted by the EdBoard team which gave a glimpse of creative content writing, script writing,
editing and so on. The final meet of our club “Rollinggg Sir!!!” was a good finish which had several
interactive sessions. All the meets engaged and entertained the students completely.
There is an Editorial Board for Atrium which primarily focuses on creative writing, giving out thoughts
and ideas through writing using the English language.
The students were given several tasks like the Word of the month and the Picture of the month, where
they were asked to submit a write-up on anything related to the word and the picture.
A writing workshop was also conducted which illuminated the students with the art of scriptwriting,
editing, creative content writing, signs and science of being a writer and so on.
“Chronicles, The Story Retold” is a small supplement processed by the Ed-board which has a review of
the meets conducted by Atrium and provides a gist of what Atrium and Edboard as a whole are
184
together.
Scintillations is the annual magazine of Atrium. Students were asked to write articles based on any one
out of the eight themes which were provided.
The Ed-Board also conducted an open mic session where the students were encouraged to portray
their talents, be it singing or performing poetry, stand-up comedies and much more.
The accomplishments of the club are credited to the active participation and involvement of the
students and the pronounced support from the Faculty and Management.
ENACTUSENACTUS
E
ENACTUSNACTUS
ENACTUS REC, a social entrepreneurship club of Rajalakshmi Engineering College, believes in
investing in students who take Entrepreneurial ACTion for others thus creating a better world for US
all. The idea of bringing about a concrete change in our society without clinging onto to the tag of
‘charity’ led to the inception of Enactus REC in 2006. Every earthly soul would indeed be happy to be a
part of their own success, to know that what they have is a fruit of their hard work and not something
that came by charity. Hence, we at ENACTUS REC tickle and channel the ingenuine entrepreneurial
skills that had been lying dormant within the youth to set up business models for the economically
challenged thus bridging the gap across communities.

KAGIDHAM, the Tamil alternative for paper, the most basic source in the progress towards learning, is
one of the ventures rendering to the production of high quality notebooks and notepads. This noble
initiative empowers and seeks support to a group of mentally challenged people, who were chosen to
help and co-evolve with the remaining fragment of the society. It includes:
• NOTEBOOKS - notebooks were made which consist of 160 pages and 192 pages.
• NOTEPADS
• PAPER BAGS - paper bags were made using 200gsm scrap paper under the tagline “say no to

PROJECT COCO PEATPROJECT COCO PEAT
The team represented the
Rajalakshmi Engineering College
on a National platform with
various projects executed.
COCOPEAT is a natural fibre made out of coconut husks. The extraction of the coconut fibre from
husks gives us this by-product called cocopeat. This makes an excellent growing medium for
hydroponics or container plant growing. This can be processed into coco peat blocks, briquettes etc.
The team visited several nurseries and gardens to conduct market survey and analysis regarding the
product. Extended research was done with various groups of customers in order to cater to the needs
of the target population. Prototypes were also made and promoted successfully.
