Green Heart Online Camp under the Concept
of “Green School Network:
Green Heart Junior”

Leading students of Green Heart led the activity, Green Heart Online Camp under the concept of
“Green School Network: Green Heart Junior” as an online event. On 14 February 2021, the
student team led the activities to propagate the knowledge in energy conservation,
environment, safety, and awareness toward health and climate change to the communities, and
schools through their attending members. It was expected that such understanding in energy
conservation, environment, and safety will grow and beneficially affect the surrounding
communities as sustainable improvement to the nation. The activity was held on ZOOM
application to comply with social distancing measure and KMUTT New Normal policy. The
activity interested students and teachers nationwide and had accommodated more than 200
participants. As a result, the Green School Network has extended even more.

KMUTT Donated Old Calendars to Make
Teaching Medium for Visually Imparied

Green Heart student group donated over 1,000 sets of calendar (disinfected) to “Educational
Technology for the Blind Center” on 16 March 2021 to make word cards and other teaching
media for the visually impaired. The “Old Calendar Donation” project supports the idea and
actions of environmental conservation emphasizing the importance of efficiency and
sustainability. The Green Heart group was the core of operation and promotion of this project.
Out of date calendars were collected from various organizations, faculties, departments, staffs,
and students within the University.

EESH Held Workshop for Energy
Environment and Health Management System

at KMUTT, Bangmod Campus

Energy Environment Safety and Health Center (EESH) organized a workshop on Energy
Environment and Health Management System for its staffs and contractors at KMUTT Bangmod
campus, on 20 March 2021 and 3 April 2021. The workshops were to raise awareness in KMUTT
New Normal policy, including energy management system, waste management, Thailand lab
safety standard, and emergency response protocol within the university to the related staffs
(which comprise cleaning, security, maintenance, and gardening staffs). The workshop was led
by lecturer from EESH center and core students from Green Heart. The workshop was aimed to
improve understanding in the KMUTT system for seamless operation within the university and
prime it for becoming the sustainable and green university. The workshop had over 200
attendees.

KMUTT Donated Disused Aluminum Material
to Make Prosthetic Legs in Royal Project

KMUTT donated more than 3,000 pieces of disused aluminum waste to the Pollution Control
Department (PCD), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on 7 April 2021 to be
recycled as prosthetic legs for those who need in the royal project. This activity supports the
ideas and conducts of environment conservation with efficient and sustainable use of limited
resource. The Green Heart students were the core in promotion and operation of the activity.
The materials were donated by various organizations, faculties, departments, staffs, and
students within the university.

KMUTT has passed the building inspection
according to Building Control Act, B.E.2552

Office of Building and Ground Management, by Mr. Preecha Acharas, Head of Sustainability
Development, has conducted a project to inspect the building safety within KMUTT with the
Building Control Act, B.E.2522, additional provisions, by the Control Act Building (No. 3), B.E.
2543, Section 32 bis provides for owners of 9 types of buildings. It stated that the building
needed to have a building inspector, an engineering, or architectural auditor performs the
inspection and then submit a report on the results of the inspection to the local staff according
to the criteria set forth in the Ministerial Regulation. As a result, King Mongkut's University of
Technology Thonburi meets a good and efficient management system and aims to be a
sustainable green university by promoting and recognizing the safety of building use within
KMUTT. There were 4 buildings comprising the Dean office, multipurpose building, Library
building, and the Faculty of Biological Resources and Technology Building of KMUTT, which have
received a building inspection certificate that is in a safe condition for use from the Department
of Public Works, Bangkok.

KMUTT Donates Used Boxes to Recycle as
Field Hospital Makeshift Bed

King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) led by Green Heart student team
donated over 300 kilograms of used cardboard boxes to the Department of Environmental
Quality Promotion (DEQP) on 21 May 2021, by relaying to SCG Packaging Pub Co., Ltd. (SCGP) to
be recycled as makeshift bed for field hospitals.

King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) led by Green Heart student team
provided more than 150 kilograms of used cardboard boxes to Thailand Post on 21 May 2021
for Thailand Post’s “reBOX” project to buy essential medical supplies for COVID-19 patients in
various hospitals.

KMUTT delivered COVID-19 testing points from public telephone
booths to Thung Khru and Bang Khun Thian public health service

centers, to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak

On 24 May 2021, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) delivered 2 sets of
COVID-19 testing points from public telephone booths to 2 public health service centers in
Bangkok, namely, Public Health Service Center, 59 Thung Khru, and Public Health Service Center
42, Thongsima Bangkhuntien. The objective to create a covid-19 testing points from the public
telephone booths is a collaboration between the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Institute of
Field Robotics and National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT). They set up a COVID-19
testing points for a medical operating room that is small, compact, lightweight, and easy to
move, to be suitable for use in health care centers with limited space and reduce the risk of
contracting COVID-19 to medical personnel while on duty to detect infection for patients who
are at risk groups. Currently, the project is scheduled to produce and deliver such COVID-19
testing points to another 4 Public health service centers in Bangkok, namely, Public Health
Service Centers 69 in Khan Na Yao District, Public Health Service Centers 7 in Yan Nawa District,
Public Health Service Centers 4 in Din Daeng District and Public Health Service Centers 44 in
Nong Chok District, totaling 6 sets for 6 centers, to use for further purposes.

King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) led by Energy Environment Safety
and Health Center (EESH) held KMUTT safety week 2021 under the concept of “Safety for all in
KMUTT : next normal for Covid -19 pandemic” on 23 August 2021 as an online event. The
activity aimed to guide and provide knowledge, understanding, awareness, and conscience
about work safety under the “new normal” for students and staffs of all level in the university.
The activities included special presentation regarding Enhancement of Safety Practice of
Research Laboratory in Thailand (ESPReL Checklist), safety training, and work safety training in
the laboratory and arena by Online training. The participants can also visit the Online safety
exhibition.

“Love Culture with the Green World”

The Energy Environment Safety and Health Office (EESH) organized the 2021 Loy Krathong Rak
Lok Theme “Love Culture with the Green World” on November 19th, 2021. Green Heart students
are the leader on handling the” Natural materials Krathong Workshop” taught by folk wisdom
from the community surround.More than 100 KMUTT students and staff made environmentally-
friendly Krathong using natural waste materials from coconut shells and orchids supported by
the Phuttha Bucha community. This activity complies with SDG 12:Responsible Consumption
and Production,SDG 13:Climate Action and SDG 14:Life below water.

Green2Get, it tells you about the step of sorting waste and how to trash correctly, and can find
recyclers who need that material near them. This activity complies with SDG 12: Responsible
Consumption and Production and SDG 13: Climate Action.

On December 9, 2021, The management team of the University would like to extend
congratulations to the Green Heart student group, under the group name "ANT Power" team,
who won the first runner-up prize and received a cash prize of 100,000 baht with a plaque from
the creative media contest, short films or viral clips under the topic "Electricity from renewable
energy from waste and biomass under the Dek Tuen Fai Project of the second year", which was
announced on November 16, 2021. This activity complies with SDG 7: Affordable and Clean
Energy, SDG GOAL 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption

guideline for preparing to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Meeting in 2022 at

KMUTT joins 15th Thailand Research
Expo 2020

National Research Office of Thailand (NRCT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research
and Innovation (MHESI) organized the "15th Thailand Research Expo 2020” under the theme
"Research for developing the country to stability, prosperity, and sustainability” between 2-6
August 2020 at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center, 22nd Floor, Central World. This
is a national event where it presents high-quality technical and innovative work, focusing on
knowledge and usefulness towards country development in social policy / people and
commercial/industry. KMUTT joined the event with innovative work under the BCG Economy
Model and won a bronze award on July 6, 2020.

On August 22, 2020, KMUTT lecturers in partnership with PTT Global Plc. (PTTGC) demonstrated
underground water management for sustainable farming to mango farmers in Rayong province.
Geospatial Engineering and Innovation Center (KGEO) and KMUTT lectures from Faculty of
Science showed the farmers the benefits of underground water management and gave
guidelines on how to use underground water. PTTGC pointed out needed collaborations to make
this project become true. Finally, the representatives of the mango farm agreed to use the
underground water management and would follow the recommended procedures for the best
outcomes.

CPRAM together with Media Arts and Technology, School of Architecture and Design held a press
conference for the 3rd year media contest under the “Zero Waste” concept at GREAT ROOM,
floor 3, Double You Hotel. The contest invites students to create a 3 minutes video to support
Zero Waste or waste reduction in order to raise awareness and promote creativity. This project
aims to create a sense of the importance for food waste in the new generation with the wish to
change and reduce the need for food by changes in behavior.
