How would you make the world a
better place to live in?

The world is a big
place. It is full of
diverse cultures,
religions and political ideas.
However, people are not
united. People do not share
ideas and others frustrate
the efforts of fellow humans
because they strongly
believe that the world is for
the rich and influential. I believe I would make the world a better place to live in by
promoting peace and justice, encouraging information and communication technology
among children. I will also promote agriculture and trade among Nations. Physically
challenged people will be assisted by me.

I will discourage religious intolerance and insurgency because God is one. Most
importantly, I can also preach the love of Christ to men of all races. I believe if I do all these
things committedly, I can make the world a better place than how I met it.

IF I COULD LIVE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD

If I could live anywhere in the world it would be Spain, my
best destination on the board game. I am amazed by the
culture and the natural beauty there.I will be able to visit my
best team stadium which is Real Madrid.Of course I will also
visit museums and restaurants to taste the delicious food.
The next place might be France because the climate there is
perfect and the people there are generous , heartwarming and
always full of smiles . People travel all over the world to see
the Eiffel tower, castles and the Greek structure. I will taste
the food which is amazing and absolutely delicious. In this city
the memories and romance never ends.

because they are the ones

IF I WERE THE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA

There are many things that come to
mind for one to achieve if one
becomes the President of any
country.
Being the President of Nigeria is huge work
with many responsibilities.
If I were the President of Nigeria, I will
construct good roads, build homes for the poor,
provide affordable healthcare and bring joy to the
people.
I will stop terrorism and corruption by all means using
technology. I will put God first and serve Him by
building mosques and churches.Above all, I
will make education affordable thereby
making Nigeria a better country.
By Abdul Jabbar Saidu

Long ago, there was a man named Henry who lived in a town called “Lord of
Greats”. He was banished to another land because he was accused of killing
people.
On his way to his forbidden land, Henry met an old man named Zack, an
ancient warrior who came to fight the ancient beast-'Minotaur.'
“This beast is dangerous. Please Henry,do not join me in this quest,” said Zack.
Rather Henry replied, “please, I want to join you on this quest. My people
banished me from my town because they think I killed people but I am sure this
beast did it”.
Henry and Zack then bravely went to the land where the Minotaur was and
they killed it.
They therefore lived happily ever after.

IF I WERE THE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA

Being president is hard work and as they say with great power comes great
responsibility. But if I had the chance to be the president I would work hard to
improve the county’s economy. My people would be given equal rights, justice
and would be treated fairly.

Theft would no longer exist and I can help by increasing the number of jobs and salary
payment and reduce the price of dollar and foreign exchange rate.
I would make clean the environment so that communicable diseases can’t spread
around. As the saying goes‘CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS.’
The changes I would make in Nigeria are: the elimination of corruption, fixing the
roads, and improving the educational and health care services, etc. Oh, what a shame
and such great pain to have to say corruption. I would solve that by setting a policy to
prevent people from being dishonest and biased.

These are the few things I will do if I had the chance to be the president of this great
nation - NIGERIA. But for now, this smart Olariyike will focus on her education in
order to achieve all her goals.GOD BLESS USALL.GOD BLESS NIGERIA!!

THE CITY I WOULD

LIKE TO VISIT

If there is one city that excites me,
that stirs in me the spirit of
adventure, that creates imaginary
butterflies in my tummy whenever it is
mentioned, it is Tokyo in Japan --The
land of the rising sun.
Tokyo is the capital of Japan, a country
located in EastAsia. It was once a poor,
fishing country that has now gained self–recognition through the selflessness, hard
work and patriotism of its people.

With a population of 130 million people, mostly of Asian descent,Tokyo stands out as a
technology hub with a lot of sight-seeing spectacles that totally eliminate any form of
boredom. Tokyo is known for lots of innovations and inventions including its own
martial arts which include karate and sumo wrestling-small wonder why it has not been
attacked in recent times.
If I ever get a chance to visit Tokyo, I will check out its schools and sit with my Japanese
friends to see how they reason. I will not forget the toy shops and factories to see their
'near –human creations' which they tag robots. It may be weird but don't be surprised if
a couple of years down the line, you still catch me clutching aTokyo made doll or toy.

DOG – MAN'S BEST FRIEND

Dogs are great pets for indoors and outdoors. There are so many different kinds of
breeds such as Pugs, Chihuahuas, German shepherd and Labradors. Some are suitable
for small homes and some are only for homes with big gardens or space. Some of the
breeds suitable for small homes are as follows:
The Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog and is named for the state of
Chihuahua in Mexico. They were also the first breed of dogs to fly in a plane!

My aunt's dog,Azumi My dog, Loki My second dog, Leo

Pug is a breed of dog with a wrinkly short muzzled face and curled tail, they have

THE BETTER NIGERIA WE PRAY FOR
By Jean Pierre Raffoul

Look at Nigeria today. Do you think live in another country. Bad roads are
that this is the way she should stay in mostly caused by trucks. They carry heavy
the future? Nigeria has a lot of loads, and the weight of this load makes

problems, and it is not acceptable in the the truck to make holes in the ground,

21st century. Some of the problems that which causes traffic on the roads.

she has today are: Bad leadership, bad

roads,no electricity and many more. Most of the time, there is no electricity

Bad leadership is caused by the leaders of because of a lack of accountability. Many

Nigeria, because they always say that they people cannot buy fuel anymore because

THE YEAR 2017 @ BUSYBEES & WESTMILLS / 87

I feel that the government should take
responsibility for providing electricity,
even if it means that they enforce a
schedule. This could mean that every day,
the electricity is kept on for four hours in
the morning, two in the afternoon and
four at night,for example.

Furthermore, many people have recently
emigrated from Nigeria because
everything has become so much more
expensive. Example: liquid hand wash was
N1000,now it is N1500.The reason is that
people say that “dollar has increased” so the civilians of Nigeria, mostly the people
who sell goods increase their prices! That is not fair at all!

We can solve these problems by working together, and by believing more in our
amazing country! We can improve the quality of roads by fixing them, and build a
special parking spaces and routes for the trucks. A big problem is traffic, and we can
reduce this by decreasing trucks, because majority of the people in Nigeria say that
“Trucks are the reason for traffic on the roads of Apapa.”

Let's help Nigeria become a better place, and let's pray for her to be better!

Year Eight WILD LIFE

WHY IS WILD LIFE IMPORTANT?

WILD LIFE is one of the ways
nature expresses her
superiority over earth. It is
very important that we keep it safe
because without it (animals and their
habitat), we humans can't survive.
Without manure from cows, how will our
plants grow? Without trees, grass, forests,
how will we derive the oxygen we breathe
in? Without goats, sheep and all other
domestic animals where will our meat come from?Without dogs how will we be warned
of danger?
WHAT CAN I DOTO PROTECT IT?
We need to protect wild life by protesting against cutting down of trees without replacing
them and refusing to allow chemicals to be dumped in the ocean and poisoning our fishes.
As an individual, you can provide food for the animals living around you and care for them
and devise measures that will ensure their safety.
THE OUTCOME
If the above suggestions are taken seriously, nature will express herself and heal the earth,
reduce global warming and provide herbs for us to heal the sick.

COMBATTING POLLUTION

There are different types of pollution that can cause harm to the environment and
these include;water pollution, air pollution and litter.
One of the types of pollution that can cause harm to the environment is air pollution.
Air pollution is caused by harmful gases like car fumes and burning of litter. This
releases a harmful gas known as carbon dioxide which can pollute the air.
Secondly, water pollution is also harmful to both humans and animals.Water pollution
can be caused by the dumping of waste in rivers and oceans which can kill fishes and
other animal living there. The use of chemicals can also harm fishes and pollute water
so we cannot use or drink the water. Dumping of litter is also harmful to the planet.
This can cause foul smells and flies will be everywhere and this has a negative effect on
the environment.
I think we can help reduce this pollution if we reduce the dumping of litter, use of
chemicals in water and the burning of waste.

commented on them watch a particular movie, they might find
whether they entertaining it hard to conceal their emotions;
or boring. Different films have different speaking from experience, my emotions

What makes a great movie contd.

very hardto remind yourself“it was just a film.”
In my opinion, films should grasp the attention of the audience in such a way that they
cannot afford to look away even for a moment. Not all films can do this though and
usually, it's in the hands of the writer. Personally speaking, I have been frightened by
movies as my favourite genre is horror, but I don't stop watching because I always want to
know what will happen next. Movies like Hush, Friend Request and Don't Breathe are
great examples of horror movies.
There are some things that a movie should not contain, like too much suspense and the
repetition of a concept throughout the movie. Films should not have too much special
effects as this creates a ''FAKE'' impression and the audience might lose concentration on
the film. All in all,how a movie is supposed to affect the viewer is in the writer's hands and
how the viewer chooses to be affected is in their hands.

LAGOS One of the things I
hate the most
about Lagos is
the fighting. I just hate it

HATE IT OR LOVE IT when I see two Nigerian
men fighting on the road

By Todi Obidipe about something that does
not bring food to their

table. I also hate the bad

roads that cause the

annoying traffic and I hate

it when the electricity goes

off unexpectedly,which happens rather frequently.

However, it might surprise you but one of the things I love about Lagos is the noise that

keeps it going, because in the midst of that horrible noise, everyone is still heard; you can

still hear the pepper seller shouting “come and buy fresh pepper o” and you can hear the

fish seller beseeching “come and buy fish, na good one”. I love the color yellow and the

stripe of black on the Danfo,on the taxi and keke. For me,that blend perfectly represents

the systematic chaos that is Lagos.

I remember the day my family and I were going to the beach on a hot Friday afternoon. I

hated the hot sun that punished us especially when our car suddenly broke down. It was

not funny, because we were stranded on the third mainland bridge! Oh my, the heat was

killing but when I looked around me I realized I was the only one complaining about the

heat. It was nothing to the fellow Nigerians around me.This is one of the many things I

love about Lagos because despite the wicked heat, people still go around doing their daily

job with a never-say-die spirit.
