The Gathering

CALL TO WORSHIP Isaiah 43:1, †CEB

Don’t fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.

OPENING SONG
Hymn 177 I Will Come to You (You Are Mine)

“I will come to you in the silence;
I will lift you from all your fear.
You will hear my voice;
I claim you as my choice.
Be still and know I am here.

Refrain:
“Do not be afraid, I am with you.
I have called you each by name.
Come and follow me,
I will bring you home;
I love you and you are mine.”

“I am hope for all who are hopeless;
I am eyes for all who long to see.
In the shadows of the night,
I will be your light.
Come and rest in me.
[Refrain]

“I am strength for all the despairing,
healing for the ones who dwell in shame.
All the blind will see;
the lame will all run free,
and all will know my name.
[Refrain]

“I am the Word that leads all to freedom;
I am the peace the world cannot give.
I will call your name,
embracing all your pain.
Stand up, now walk and live!
[Refrain]

The Confession

CALL TO CONFESSION Pastor Stephen Kellough

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, we confess that our hearts
are harder than we often hope they would be.
Rather than turning to you, we succumb to sin.
Pardon the ways we, our communities,
and world have been infected by fear.
Help our responses to those around us
to be rooted in a deep trust of you in all we do.
Hear our prayers for forgiveness and heal our hearts,
in Jesus’ name.

Please continue in silent prayer for confession of personal matters.

DECLARATION OF GOD’S PARDON

The Word

WORD IN SONG I Will Fear No More
by The Afters

Every anxious thought that steals my breath
It’s a heavy weight upon my chest
As I lie awake and wonder what the future will hold
Help me to remember that You’re in control

You’re my courage when I worry in the dead of night
You’re my strength ‘cause I’m not strong enough to win this fight
You are greater than the battle raging in my mind
I will trust You, Lord
I will fear no more

I will lift my eyes
I will lift my cares
Lay them in Your hands
I’ll leave them there
When the wind and waves are coming
You shelter me
Even though I’m in the storm, the storm is not in me

You’re my courage when I worry in the dead of night
You’re my strength ‘cause I’m not strong enough to win this fight
You are greater than the battle raging in my mind
I will trust You, Lord
I will fear no more

No power can come against me
‘Cause You have overcome
No darkness can overwhelm me
‘Cause You’ve already won

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Pastor Stephen Kellough

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.

The Sending

CLOSING SONG
Hymn 626 As the Deer

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

Chorus:
You alone are my strength my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

You’re my friend and You are my brother
Even though You are a King
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything
[Chorus]

I want You more than gold or silver
Only You can satisfy
You alone are the real joygiver
And the apple of my eye
[Chorus]
