Future of Legal Technology/Software as a Service
Speaker: Trevor Jefferies, CS Disco Inc.
Trevor Jeffries, Esq. PRESENTATION: This course looks into issues such
as:
What should legal professionals look for in newer
legal technology?
What ethical issues face legal professionals who
want to use newer technologies based on cloud-
based software?
How will legal professionals, typically untrained
in such technical matters, be able to evaluate the
efficacy of any one cloud-based software to meet their
ethical requirements?
Does Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) meet the ethical requirements to preserve client infor-
mation and client records
Should legal professionals be using cloud-based software to promote the interests of their
clients towards more efficient and cost-effective delivery of legal services such as discov-
ery?
What costs, if any, can legal professionals ethically charge their clients for the use of SaaS?
What costs, if any, may be recovered from opposing parties for the use of Saas?
