MAY 2024 PEO Pearl Newsletter

MAY 2024 PEO PEARL NEWSLETTER

My Dear Phi Eta Omega Sorors, When I was first initiated, I was handed a pink parchment scroll tied with a pink ribbon when I first joined our sisterhood. In it was a poem entitled, The Twenty Pearls, written in dark green calligraphy. This month, I thought I would share it with you as a reminder of the precious strand that connect us... And while the ink and the parchment have faded, the meaning of this poetic interpretation still rings true - we know there’s no other like our sisterhood. With Sisterly Love, Soror Liz THE TWENTY PEARLS 1 - One Pearl is for devotion to the beauty of life and character. 2 - One Pearl for truth that we search for eternally. 3 - One Pearl for spiritual sight, blessing our inner lives, so that our countenance will continue to shine. 4 - One Pearl for scholarship and academic integrity. 5 - One Pearl for the spirit of service. 6 - One Pearl for the sunshine of a lovely smile or the comfort of a sincere clasp of the hand. 7 - One Pearl for the struggle and striving towards our goal. 8 - One Pearl for happiness that we shed, life perfume upon those who live around and with us. 9 - One Pearl for friendship, the blessing of knowing each other in bonds of trust and sincerity. 10 - One Pearl for vision to see and to know the way we should take. 11 - One Pearl for victory over our lack of judgment and our resort to bias and discrimination. 12 - One Pearl for the pledging of our faith to great purpose. 13 - One Pearl for hard work and sacrifice. 14 - One Pearl for thankful hearts, that we have known the joys of sisterhood. 15 - One Pearl for Alpha, that we shall be first in spirit, in love and human relations. 16 - One Pearl for for Kappa, that wisdom will endow every part of us. 17 - One Pearl for Alpha, that completes the trinity of our dreams; and makes us abound in the realization that I am a sister to help, and that there are other sisters to help me. 18 - One Pearl for the joy of begetting this that I have known and loved to someone who craves it as much as I have craved it. 19 - One Pearl for merit and culture - the motto that burns upon the shrine of our hearts. 20 - And the twentieth Pearl, best of all, leads us to follow the star set by pioneers in 1908 to be Supreme in Service to All Mankind.
