Dear Parent, Pre-Prep News.............................. 9
Nursery News............................... 12
Excellent attitudes and impressive determination were in abun-
dant evidence for the Pre-Prep and Nursery Sports Day. As in its Prep WEEK 9+10 Shakespeare week
School counterpart, this is a wonderfully good-natured event in which
the positivity of the spectators really contributes to its success. I really Jun 18 Mon Reception/Badgers/Foxes

had just been pipped to the post. The day was expertly organised by 09:30-

A huge well done for Patrick's participation in the "Millions Missing" demonstration
in London on M.E. Awareness Day on 12 May. Patrick wanted to participate to
support his brother, Charlie, who is suffering from the disease and mainly house-
bound.

Similar demonstrations happened around the world, with people placing pairs
of shoes to represent their loved ones who are "missing" from life due to
M.E. The demonstration in London was the biggest in the world and Patrick
had the honour of doing the headcount! The demonstration made the news on
every main TV channel.

It was pouring with rain but Patrick stayed in place outside the BBC,
holding placards and talking with other siblings.

Drum kit for Sale!

I am selling my drum kit, a 7-piece Mapex set complete with all cymbals, hardware, stands and cases, as I would like some
money for my upcoming Masters degree and to free up some space at home!
I bought this kit while at school and have had it for 7 years. I gigged with it for four years and it's been stored away carefully
in cases for 3. It's in excellent condition, and is perfect for a beginner/intermediate player keen to further their abilities. I'd
love for it to go to a student/school music department, as school was where I first picked up the sticks!
I am therefore writing to ask whether your department or any of your students would like to purchase this drum kit? All in
all, I bought it (with cases, cymbals etc.) for about £2,000, but am willing to let it go for £800. The price includes all the
drums, hardware, stands, cymbals and cases, which are all in excellent condition.
Many thanks, and if the department itself is interested in purchasing the kit please do not hesitate to get in touch. A link to
images of the kit/cases can be found here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAPEX-VXB-7-PIECE-TURQUOISE-LACQUER-DRUM

A high scoring affair at Claremont Prep School with Reuben D winning the toss and choosing to
field. Ashford prep went on to score 156 runs with the opening batsman scoring a well-earned
50. The pick of the bowlers were Tom O, Louis L and Javier G. Claremont started the innings
off well with Charlie W dispatching the first ball for four. However the steady partnership
came to an end with a run out. Claremont managed to start lots of promising innings but failed to
get one to set off the fireworks. Claremont finished just 25 runs short of Ashford. The top
batsmen were Charlie W, Reuben D and Oscar R.

Year 2 baking cupcakes for Fathers’ Day!

Sybilla from Year 2, came into RN to share a sto-
ry with us. We will be even more fabulous readers
when we are in Year 2! She managed to read really
big, really difficult words like ‘treasure’! Thank
you Sybilla.

Jonathan had his face made in Lego! Mrs Soucek bought baby Francesca to meet us all. We thought
about how we had changed since we were a baby and all the
things that we can do now that we couldn’t do when we were a
baby. Mrs Soucek talked to us about how she looks after Fran-
cesca and we marvelled at how tiny she is! Thank you Mrs Soucek
for spending time with us.

A riding
rosette for
Matilda!

Our gym competitors made a collection to thank
Kayley and Phoebe for their hard work.

RN had great fun making Fathers’ Day cards writing what they love most about their Daddy’s!

Ducklings &

Butterflies

This week the Ducklings and Butterflies have had a lovely time watering their vegetable down in the Jubi-
lee garden.

Both rooms have also joined together to make cup-cakes for our charity day which was on Thursday.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to our cup-cake day by either bringing cakes in to sell or eating
them.

All of the money went to the Alzheimer's Society and was a huge success.

Robins

This week in Robins we have been busy making Fathers’ Day cards for our daddies. We have also started
making shells, crabs, seahorses, jellyfish and starfish for our summer display board. Happy Fatehrs’ Day
from all the Robins.

Hedgehogs

This week the Hedgehogs been focusing on shapes, colours and numbers. The children have enjoyed
matching shapes, naming the colours as they paint their Fathers’ Day card. They also enjoyed the col-
ours game outside where they had to stand on the colour that was called out.

Badgers & Foxes

This week Badgers and Foxes enjoyed visiting the
Jubilee Garden with Mrs Willard who explained
about the different vegetables they were going to
plant in their own vegetable patch, the Badgers and
Foxes then had lots of fun planting leeks, carrots,
green beans and sunflowers.

Badgers and Foxes also enjoyed their visit to
Forest School this week where they had the chance
to try bark rubbing.

Squirrels

This week Squirrels we have been very busy learning about hygiene and self care, with the importance of washing
our hands.
We have also been practicing for our Sports Day and the big day this week! We had a super day attending our
first ever Sports Day! It was so much fun! We ran so fast!
We would like to also wish all the daddies a very Happy Fathers’ Day on Sunday! We hope you enjoy your surprise.

Kingfishers

This week we have been practising for Sports Day at the bottom field, and everyone walked very sen-
sibly down the hill in pairs, so they know exactly what to do on the day! We have also been discussing
Fathers’ Day, and what it means for different families, and the children each made a card to take
home to a special someone.
