134 Wristband Monitoring of Children in the Clinical Setting and COVID-19 Wards Darin Thikaow, Nattikan Langkapin, Trasaphorn Saileamthong, Thipwara Phoemsuwan, Thunchanok Leosawathiphong, Thunchanok Arjariya, Thanchanok Buntham, Thitima Jongketkan School of Nursing, Mae Fah Luang University Abstract Vital signs are crucial in determining the health of children who are in a fragile state. In the pediatric departments and COVID-19 ward, the patients’ vital signs are assessed no less than every four hours and are often done more frequently, depending on the severity of the conditions and symptoms. The monitoring of vital signs in these fragile children especially children with COVID-19 is often difficult because of the frequency of crying, involuntary movements, and spreading of the disease making monitoring difficult at times. The accuracy and difficulty of these measurements can often result in imprecise measurements and an increase of the clinician’s time and effort in gathering this data. A new “wristband” can solve this problem. The innovation is designed to monitor vital signs in children who must be closely observed while they are unwell. This “V/S Wristband” incorporates the use of infrared wave and light pulse technology found in larger more cumbersome equipment. The wristband collects light on a photodiode that has passed through the hemoglobin and will detect crucial information.
