STUDENT COUNCIL

Because of the more liberal adm inistration, the 1968-69
Nottingham Student Council has found that it has been able to
fu lfill many of the numerous campaign promises that have ac
cum ulated over the years. Perhaps the greatest accom plish
ment that w ill be attributed to the President Kevin Schopfer—
V ice-P resident M arcia Edelman ad m in istra tio n is the student
lounge erected in the rear of the cafeteria. T his lounge, p ro
viding a place where students can relax as w ell as work, is a
welcom e change to the fam iliar study hall. Furnished with
funds from the treasury, this room w ill go down as a landmark
in the history of NHS.

A lthough the usual problem of a large d e fic it in the bud
get remained, the council desperately tried to w hittle down this
amount with the sale of Student A ctivity Cards, pizza, and coke,
(note: no candy!). C arefully watching over the financial books
was treasurer M ike Lawitts. Com pleting the adm inistration was
SuSu Biron who used reams of paper and quarts of ink mimeo
graphing the minutes to the meetings.

With the coming of a new adm inistration the as liaison between the adm inistration and the stu
P rincipal’s Cabinet has been expanded to include dents. However, its function has been enlarged
sophom ores and juniors as well as candidates for because of the greater freedom given to the student
Student Council offices. As always this group serves body.

One of the most popular squads in the school, the
General Organization Squad, helps to make sopho
more students feel at home in the fall. They also
keep things organized, generally, under the leader
ship of G ail R ifkin and Ed Kerkhoven. Give me an

VARSITY CLUB

Spearheaded by varsity athlete Mark Perlman
and supervised by varsity coach Mr. Chuck Brad
bury, the Varsity Club offers the varsity athletes an
opportunity to get together on a varsity level. The
club hopes to purchase varsity sport jackets as well
as possibly have a few varsity oriented school
functions.
