1. LEIGH MAYOR’S BADGE OF OFFICE AND MAYORAL CHAIN

One 18ct. Yellow Gold 2 row Mayoral chain and Pendant/Badge.
Chain comprises total 30 x shield links plus one centre shield Approx. Size each
30mm. All applied with the enamel Gothic monograms of the Mayors in office from

1899 onwards.
The outer row of 16 x shield links alternating with rose motif links and attached to the

central crowned shield linking to the pendant/badge. Approx. Length 120cms
The inner row is split into 2 x 7 shields chain linked and connected to the inside of the

long row separately.

18ct.Yellow Gold Badge / pendant of Office centred with enamelled shield depicting
the Arms of the Corporation of Wigan over crossed sword and sceptre with hand

pierced open work foliage scrolls surmounted by a Helmet with red enamel mantle
and metal Crown and Crest. Embellished below with 2 x limoge enamel views of the

area and the words
‘PROGRESS WITH UNITY’ on a blue enamel ribbon scroll.

3. THE LEIGH CORPORATION MACE
One Silver Gilt Mace made by Elkington & Company.

Hallmarked Sterling Silver Birmingham 1906.
Presented on the occasion of the opening of the new Leigh Town Hall.
Comprises a knopped staff chased with a spiral of flowering rose briars, the surmount
chased with scenes to depict the Iron Foundry, Weaving, Spinning and Coal Mining,
surmounted by a coronet with orb and cross finial above the Royal Coat of Arms.
