Celebrate Israel Parade!

On Sunday, June 4, YCQ proudly marched up Fifth Avenue, along with thousands of other
students from the tri-state area to Celebrate Israel! Our theme this year was, “Imagine Israel…” as
depicted on our beautiful shirts. Special thanks to Mrs. Liron Friedman, Mrs. Linda Benson, Rabbi
Hamel, Mrs. Teichman, Mrs. Golubtchik, Mr. Cruz, Richard, and Kevin! May we be zoche to march
next year in the parade leading up to the third Beit Hamikdash in Yerushalayim Habenuya!!

Mishna Siyum With Rabbi Nat

On Monday night, June 5, the boys in Rabbi Nat’s Mishna club made a siyum on Mishnayot Bava
Metzia. Every Tuesday evening, seventeen select students from grades six through eight stayed after
school and learned Mishnayot on a very high level with Rabbi Nat. At the celebratory siyum,
parents, and children got together in our multipurpose room, enjoyed a delicious Chinese buffet and
and had a chance to hear from each and every student as they summerized the entire mashechet.
Mazel Tov to all students and to Rabbi Nat on this beautiful accomplishment! May they continue to
grow in their learning and soar higher and higher.

Yeshiva Science Congress
We are pleased to announce the results of the 2017 Yeshiva Science Congress held on Sunday, May 21, at
HALB. The quality of the projects submitted by our school was exceptional, and the awards granted reflect
that high standard. The students do not compete with each other, the projects are evaluated by two judges
against a “perfect project” and awards are designated as deserved. This year, our school achieved the
following status: Yeshiva of Central Queens: 1st Place: Avi Beylus, Matan Avitzedek, Rivka Sullivan, Aaron
Sisser, Yosef and Yaakov Yakubov. 2nd Place: Josh Bellehsen. 3rd Place: Ahuva Schachar, Tamar
Sonbolian. Mazel Tov to all our students we are very proud of you!!

Mix It Up Lunch

On Thursday, May 25, the Mix it up club organized a very special program culminating
an incredible year. Throughout the entire school year a variety of programs and events
took place to promote friendship and decrease incidents of bullying. We were very
privileged to welcome Councilman Rory Lancman as well as a Fox News crew who
reported on the very special event. Special thanks to Mrs. Golubtchik, Councilman Rory
Lancman and Sam Verstandig for speaking, as well as to Mrs. Maisel for coordinating
the Mix it up club.

Grade 7 Bar Mitzvah Workshop

The excitement was tangible as the seventh grade Bar-Mitzvah Workshop class made their annual visit to Rabbi Pincus’s
Tefillin factory in Brooklyn. Here they experienced a detailed exhibition of the formation of the Tefillin, being allowed a
glimpse into the world of batim production. There was a wonderful demonstration of each stage of the process. Rabbi
Pincus not only showed in vivid detail how to make the different parts of Tefillin, but also explained many of the
symbolisms behind them. Students were then privy to go to the upstairs level of the factory, where a staff of certified
Sofrim, renowned for their craftsmanship and expertise in writing, where assiduously at work inspecting and restoring
Tefillin, Mezuzot, and Sifrei Torah. Students left with an enhanced appreciation of Tefillin and the entire process of their
production.

ATTENTION PARENTS OF STUDENTS THAT RECEIVE SERVICES

THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

• Please be aware that YCQ does not receive your child’s IEP/IESP
(Individualized Educational Plan) from the DOE/CSE.

• According to the CSE, the only way that we can get a copy is
parent generated.

• We recommend asking for a second copy at the meeting.
• As soon as you receive the IEP, please make a copy and send it

to school, attention Mrs. Deborah Bermish.

Why does YCQ need a copy of the IEP?
• All therapists will be aware of your child’s goals.
• YCQ will be aware of the services your child should receive.
• Teachers will be aware of the testing accommodations for the
Terra Nova tests, as well as classroom modifications.
• All IEP’s are confidential and kept in a locked file.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter.
