Celebrate Israel Parade!
On Sunday, June 3, YCQ proudly marched up Fifth Avenue, along with thousands of other students
from the tri-state area to Celebrate Israel! Our theme this year was, “Sababa” as depicted on our
beautiful displays. Special thanks to Mrs. Liron Friedman, Mrs. Linda Benson, Ms. Sara Rosenfeld, Mrs.
Yasmin Nisanov, Rabbi Hamel, Mrs. Teichman, Mrs. Golubtchik, Mr. Cruz, Jason, Mr. Aaron Kessler,
Richard, and Kevin! May we be zoche to march next year in the parade leading up to the third Beit
Hamikdash in Yerushalayim Habenuya!!

7th Grade Bar Mitzvah Workshop

The excitement was tangible as the seventh grade Bar-Mitzvah Workshop class made their annual visit to
Rabbi Pincus’s Tefillin factory in Brooklyn. Here they experienced a detailed exhibition of the formation of
the Tefillin, being allowed a glimpse into
the world of batim production. There
was a wonderful demonstration of each
stage of the process, where the boys
were able to touch the tefillin at each
stage of production. Rabbi Pinchus not
only showed in vivid detail how to make
the different parts of Teffilin, but also
explained many of the symbolisms
behind them. Student left with an
enhanced appreciation of Tefillin and
the entire process of their production.
Special thanks to Rabbi Bernstein for all
the work that went into this beautiful
event.

Judaic Studies Enrichment Siyum
On Monday, the Judaic Studies enrichment students from grades 3-6 participated in an siyum
celebrating their learning throughout the year. The students spent this year dedicating their
time to learn mishnayot on a weekly basis with Rabbi Howitt. The students were treated to a
scrumptious breakfast followed by an exciting trivia game and raffle. Rabbi Ribalt gave a
special d’var Torah honoring their pursuit of being “‫ ”קוה עתים לתורה‬. The fun will continue next
week with a trip to 711! Kol Hakavod to our students and Rabbi Howitt for an amazing year!

Third Grade Poetry Recital A Huge Success!
The third grade has been spending the last few weeks working on a poetry unit. As a
culminating event, all four classes got together for a special recital in which students shared
their own published poetry with each other. Everyone enjoyed a popcorn snack while listening
to students and teachers share their poetry work! Thank you to the third grade teachers;
Mrs. Miles, Ms. Laffer, and Ms Kessler. A special thank you to Mrs. Miles for organizing the
event!

Fourth Grade Siyum

This past Tuesday, June 5th the fourth grade had a siyum breakfast in honor of completing Sefer Beresheit!
The students ate a delicious breakfast of cereal and cupcakes followed by incredible speakers. The student
speakers where Yehoshua Gherman, Leah Davis, Abigail Badalov and Chani Samet. Each students took a
different Rashi learned in class, and dissected the lessons they could learn fro each. These speeches were all
given in Ivrit! The students then heard for guest speaker Rabbi Elan Segelman the Rav of Kehilat Torah
Temima which meets every Shabbat in the Multi-purpose Room! The Rav spoke to the students about the
lessons that we learn from the entire Sefer Beresheit on how to better relate to our siblings and peers. The
program concluded with an inspiring story from Rabbi Leiman and every student received a beautiful
bencher.

JHS Boys Soccer Team Heading to Championship For Second Straight Year!

After an amazing season lead by Coach Avi our YCQ Wildcats went 6-2. Our top scorers were Jared Roth,
Natan Feder, Netanel Leitner and Rephael Gemal. In the past two weeks, the Wildcats had faced their two
biggest obstacles in their goal to win back to back championships. In the first game the Wildcats faced the
North Shore Stars and defeated them by a score of 15-4. Jared Roth and Natan Feder led the scoring with
five goals each. The Wildcats then played the Flatbush Falcons and defeated them by a score of 8-0. Our
goalie, Sam Korman, led the team through a shaky first half by keeping the game to a 1-0 lead and would
later score two goals. Our top scorer in our 8-0 win was Jared Roth with three goals and Ilan Yunatanov who
scored his first career goal. Come and cheer the YCQ Wildcats as we play the Halb Lions in Yeshiva Har
Torah at 11:00am on Sunday June 10th, Go Wildcats!
