Foreword

"Advanced Kids Series" is based on the speciĮcaƟons of the latest pre-primary level
ECD curriculum and also on Montessori principle in Nepali context. It supports the
concrete number concepts and computaƟon skills.
The lessons - exercises focus on understanding, counƟng, comparing numbers, shapes,
sizes, recognizing numbers up to 50 with simple addiƟon and subtracƟon.
The computaƟon processes are presented in a step-by-step manner to help your child
understand exactly what is to be done.
The exercises / acƟviƟes are carefully graded, varied and child-centred with coverage
for children with diīerent learning abiliƟes.

SuggesƟons for applying Advanced Kids Series

• First of all, make the child's learning environment secure and pleasant.
• Do your best to transmit the message that learning is challenging and diĸcult, yet

enjoyable and rewarding, so genuine speciĮc praise, temptaƟon and construcƟve
warning will help to build child's conĮdence.
• The clear and simple direcƟons about every acƟvity / exercise page will enable
children to proceed independently but your undivided aƩenƟon is necessary.
• Before starƟng the page, please give very clear child-friendly instrucƟons. Read
and spell out the Ɵtle of the page, especially for those who can learn more clearly
by listening (auditory learner). Show an example of all the concepts to those who
can learn more clearly by looking at things (visual learner). Give an opportunity
to touch, feel and play with concrete objects or materials to those who can learn
fast through the medium of pracƟcal exercises by exploring the environment
(kinestheƟc learner).
• Explain the skill and show the steps of acƟvity to the child as an example.
• Make the child understand and realise with concrete objects then only let her/him
pracƟce the exercises / acƟviƟes.
• Have the child pracƟce, repeat, revise the same exercises many Ɵmes for their long
term memory.
• Support the child's eīorts to move beyond what s/he has already accomplished.
• There will be days when your child may not feel like working. This is typical, so
accept it.

Remember to be paƟent, encouraging and posiƟve with your child, even
when minor mistakes are made.
