BRITISH COLUMBIA
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
BANGKOK
SCHOOL HISTORY
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the British Columbia International School Bangkok.
BCISB began in 2007 and is a small sized Canadian international school, offering the BC curriculum.
Our school in Bangkok is one of 40 British Columbian international schools worldwide.
The new BCISB building was officially opened on March 16, 2009 and is home to an array of facilities in-line
with international standards. BCISB school program is accredited by both the Ministry of Education in British
Columbia, Canada and by the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Thailand. Our graduating students
receive TWO diplomas, from both Thailand and Canada.
Our students are qualified to study in any university in the world and many have gone on to prestigious uni-
versities in the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, Canada and the USA as well as Thailand.
Both parents and children appreciate the warm caring community that is BCISB. Our campus is modern,
being built in 2007, and we have recently had additions of a purpose built gymnasium and soon a five-lane
swimming pool. We have both indoor and outdoor playgrounds, an extensive library, and music, art and
drama studios. Our facilities ensure the best for learning and development.
MISSION
Through exemplary teaching in a inquisitive environment, BCISB inspires students to be creative and critical
thinkers, multilingual communicators and proactive global citizens, who lead active, healthy and balanced
lives.
VISION
BCISB strives to prepare students to be globally minded individuals with the critical thinking skills to make
informed decisions for their betterment and their environment.
LEARNING PHILOSOPHY
At BCISB we concentrate on providing a positive, inclusive and compassionate environment. We respect
and recognize individual differences and encourage our students to challenge personal limits and pro-
mote excellence. We show by example how to value positive attitudes, patience, tolerance, creativity and a
strong sense of individual self-worth, grounded in the ability to work with others.
- Engaging and involving students in conversation
- Promoting collaboration through team activities
- Giving students a chance to independently grow
and learn
- Providing plenty of chances for hands on learning
to allow for sustainable retention of knowledge.
- Student thinking is valued even when it is unde-
veloped, with their errors used as opportunities for
educational growth.
- Learning by hands-on work and experimentation,
solving problems that are real and important to
them.
EDUCATION IS NOT THE LEARNING OF FACTS,
BUT THE TRAINING OF THE MIND TO THINK.

Dear BCISB Community, - Dr. Pakdee Tharnpanya
Congratulations to the graduation class of 2022!
Your success is a direct result of your hard
work and determination to learn. Coupled
with the support and encouragement
of your teachers and parents you have
achieved a major milestone. The next
step will be post-secondary educa-
tion, which will guide your future ca-
reer.
British Columbia International School
has provided the foundation for you to
now go out and live and interact as a
global citizen.
Lastly, as president of the Tharnpanya Education
Group, I wish you a joyful and fulfilling life. Best wishes
in all future endeavors.

Dear BCISB community and Families,
Now that you’ve graduated, it’s up to you to take
that knowledge and do something great
with it. Congratulations! Take some time
today to think about what you learned
outside the classroom. You’ll probably
find that much more valuable than
what you learned in it. With love and
pride today and always. Go, Bears!

Dear BCISB Bears and Families, - Dr. Wisorntip Wisawatho
Congratulations on the completion of the 2021-2022
school year! This year will surely be a year to remem-
ber. Although the first part of the year when we were
learning at home currently feels like it overshadows
everything else from the school year, there were so
many wonderful moments and achievements as well!
I hope that you enjoy this yearbook and take a mo-
ment to reflect on the new learning, friendships,
and fun that we experienced together this
year.
We spent this year watching our
school continue to expand and grow.
We are seeing the old historic parts
of our building revitalized and sleek
new additions are creating more
space for learning and gathering
together as a community. Whether
you are an 8th grader moving on to
high school or a returning Elementary
School student next year, you are inside
the building blocks of what BCISB has
become. Your projects, essays, and prob-
lem solving were on display for all to see. We
had our very environmental fair and we saw future
entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, performers, and
salesmen come to life before our eyes. You made the
most of a situation that may not have felt ideal and
the result showed that what makes up a school is not
just about the building itself. A school is made up of
staff and students as well as the ideas, experiences,
and results that happen day in and day out within the
space. This was a wonderful school year because you
made it so! Congratulations to the graduation class
for 2022!

Dear BCISB Community,
What an incredible year! It has been incredibly busy
with online and on-site learning but so rewarding
that many of our students have continued to achieve,
shine, grow, and learn. It’s been an honor and privi-
lege to watch you all grow. As you continue through
life, never forget to keep learning, to keep having fun.
My hope is that as you reflect on the past in
this yearbook, you will also keep moving
forward with pursuing your dreams to
change the world for the better. It is
my hope that the rich relationships,
classes, caring teacher and staff,
supportive BCISB community and
the uniqueness of BCISB will give
you a memorable high school expe-
rience and prepare you for the chal-
lenges of life.
Ms. Thitaporn Tharnpanya - Many thanks to the wonderful yearbook
and BCISB producers, student editors, cre-
ative artists, and photographers, for putting to-

Middle School & High School
Dear BCISB Community,
It has been a pleasure to return to the British Columbia In-
ternational School of Bangkok after five years back in Can-
ada, and what a year the 2021-2022 school year has been! It
has been a year of transitions and new beginnings. We have
all transitioned between online learning and onsite learning
throughout this school year as we adapted to this “new normal”.
We started the school year online with activity boxes and
Google Meet, and we ended the year in person, cel-
ebrating our students with our graduation and
award ceremonies. A special congratulations
to our Grade 12 students who have been true
leaders in our school community this year.
I wish you all the best as you traverse the
world putting your well earned British Co-
lumbia Dogwood Diploma to good use.
This pandemic has challenged us all in
different ways and I am so proud of how
the whole BCISB community has navi-
gated through it together. We could not
have done this without the great part-
nership between home life and school
life, so thank-you parents and guard-
ians for being with us every step of the way.
Our teachers and support staff found unique
and creative ways to continue the learning at home
when students were not able to be on campus, and
our students have shown their resiliency in the face of shift-
ing from Google Classroom to the on campus classroom.
For the last month and a half of this school year we
were able to resume our usual additional program-
ming such as extra curricular activities, team building
camp and field trips. We look forward to continuing these
in person events in our next school year and beyond.
As we close off the school year, I want to wish you
all a safe and healthy school break and I look for-
ward to seeing you back at BCISB in September.
Sincerely,
Heidi Fowler, M. Ed.

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the British
Columbia International School Bangkok’s communi-
ty. This year has been an unprecedented year as we
faced the challenges incurred by the COVID-19 pan-
demic. As a result, there have been many changes,
but what has not changed is our commitment to nur-
turing, supporting, and educating every student.
This year we celebrated the first two K1
c l a s s e s in all of BCISB history! During my
time at BCISB I look forward to forming
collegial partnerships with you as we work
t o g e t h e r to ensure that every child be-
comes a life-long learner and reaches
their academic potential through enrich-
ing curriculum, engaging hands-on ac-
tivities, and inspiring teachers and staff.
The administrators, faculty and staff
work diligently every day to provide
rigorous relevant curricu la for our stu-
dents, in a safe learning environment. As
such, we are working meticulously to ensure
that our goal is to provide service that reflects
a culture of learning, caring, respect, and quality.
It is my heartfelt privilege to serve as the Kindergar-
ten and Elementary Principal. I sincerely believe that
a school environment that is collaborative draws on
the strength of all stakeholders and fosters a posi-
tive school climate that makes a difference in the lives
of our students. I look forward to continuing to work
with you to continue the tradition of excellence.
Sincerely,
Hadden Allen, M. Ed.

Congratulations on the end of the school year 2021–2022! I
hope you enjoy this yearbook and take some time to reflect
on the new things we learned, the new friendships we
made, and the new fun we had together. I recall
walking into BCISB as a Grade 4 teacher for the

faces, pristine uniforms, and book bags full of
equipment necessary to change the world. Fi-
nally, I’d like to thank all of the BCISB elemen-

the school year. I am so honoured to be the
