-'- ingredient being soluble in the fluids of the mouth. It will arrest the accumulation of tartar, prevent decay-
by neutralising acids and decomposing food, and at the same time be agreeable in taste, and attractive in
appeai-ance. It is neat, portable, and cleanly, obviating the waste that occurs when using ordinary tooth powder.
Several persons can use from the same box with perfect propriety. It is the only Dentifrice that receives the

Our Capsules are still unsurpassed in quality and unequalled in beauty and finish. They are easily dissolved in the most delicate

which frequently pass through the stomach without dissolving, or are thrown up after having uselessly fatigued the stomach.

TAMAR INDIEN,

A laxative, refreshing, and medicated Fruit Lozenge, very agreeable to take, and never causing irritation

Its physiological action assures the immediate relief and effectual cure of

Ceebbbal Congestion, Headache, Indigestion, Bile, HjEmorehoids, etc., etc., by augmenting the

])eristaltic movement of the intestines without producing undue secretion of the liquids. Unlike i)ills and the

usual purgatives, it does not predispose to intestinal sluggishness, and the same dose always produces the same

effect, that is to say, never needs increasing. These properties render " Tamae " invaluable to the weak and

debilitated, and especiallj' to ladies previous and subsequent to their accouchement. It is recommended by the

most eminent Physicians of Paris, notably Drs. Belin and Tardieu, who prescribe it constantly for the above

complaints, and with marked success. Prepaked by

' As a companion to the large Directory, it deserves to be added that Messrs. Kelly have brought

out what may be called the parochial history of each parish, but without the long list of " names of
residents," ia a smaller volume entitled "Somersetshire," as one of their new series of "County
Topographies." As a specimen of the information which this little work supplies, we extract a few

lines from its description of the parish of Lyng, between Bridgewater and Taunton :— " Near the
junction of the rivers Tone and Parrett is the Isle of Athelney, formerly called 'jEthelingey,' or the
Isle of Nobles, famous as the place which afforded shelter to Alfred the Great during the invasion
of the Danes. King Alfred in remembrance of this founded here a monastery for Benedictines

(a.d. 888), all traces of which have long since disappeared ; in digging from time to time many

evidences of this establishment have been brought to light. The most important of these is the
celebrated relic known by the name of King Alfred's Jewel, now deposited in the Ashmolean Museum
at Oxford. In order to commemorate this spot, so rich in historical associations, but of which so
little evidence remained, Sir John Slade, of Maunsell House, the late proprietor of the farm, caused
to be erected in 1801 a stone monument, which bears an inscription to this effect." '

COD LIVEE OIL MEECHANT,

178, ISLINGTON, LIVERPOOL.

I find much Pleasure in testifying to the excellence of NORWEGIAN COD LIVER OIL imported by you.

Since its introduction to this country I have been in the habit of prescribing it, and find it possessing the

following qualities.

1st.—Its THERAPEUTICAL EFFECTS are equal if not superior to any oil I have hitherto prescribed—the

results are very satisfactory.

2nd.—It is PALATABLE. In those cases where I have recommended its use it has never been rejected, and

is tolerated by the most delicate constitutions.

— —3rdly. I consider its composition to be uniform for I find its qualities are constant and its action is

invariable.
—4thly.— Its use in infantile cases is most satisfactory. The above are the leading features to be recognised
NORWEGIANin the action of COD LIVER OIL. I believe that the greatest care is taken in its preparation
— —for all the samples that I have seen and examined are identical. I have the utmost confidence in
—recommending its use. 117, Mount Pleasant, Liverpool, Nov. 12, 1873.

EDMUND COPP'S

PEERLESS VEGETABLE ANTISEPTIC

DENTAL SCALING POWDER.

Subtle and powerful, luxurious and aromatic, has established itself with unexampled rapidity a sine quA non of the Toilet-table. Going
direct to the root of the disease, and eradicating the very germ of decay, it obviates, and has entirely superseded, the impairing and
troublesome process of Mechanical Scaling ; it acts beneficially on the enamel, irresistibly removes tartar, preserves, strengthens, and
gives to teeth a dazzling pearly whiteness. Continued application absolutely insures to them a lasting, healthful, and health-giving

vigour. Although not artificially scented, it impai-ts a delightful fragrance to the breath.
