Wilma Rudolph
The fastest runner in the world

Wilma Rudolph
I am Wilma Rudolph an athlete
I wonder if I will be back to the way I used to be
I hear voices chanting my name
I see the baton coming for me then I run
I want to be triumphant
I am Wilma Rudolph an athlete
I pretend to surge to victory
I feel the sweet from the mater that I just ran
I touch the memorable moments
I worry with the measles that have stricken me
I cry with joy that I won
I am Wilma Rudolph an athlete
I understand what happens in a fumble
I say I won with the tears in my eyes
I dream I will be the beast
I tried to be the beast
I hope I will be memorable
I am Wilma Rudolph an athlete
Wilma Rudolph is the fastest woman in the world with the records of 11.3 seconds, 11.0 seconds, and 23.2 seconds. Born on June 23,
1940, in St. Bethlehem, Tennessee, Wilma Rudolph was a sickly child who had to wear a brace on her left leg. She overcame her
disabilities to compete in the 1956 Summer Olympic Games, and in 1960, she became the first American woman to win three gold
medals in track and field at a single Olympics.
