Associated Women Students
1111
A.W.S., Associated Women Students, has become, at last, a functioning voice of the Auburn coeds and has
moved from concerning itself with only dormitory rules and curfews to unlimited involvement with major campus
activities. A.W.S. has given endorsement to such projects as the establishment of a child-care center on campus
for married students, the sex discrimination act now being reviewed in the national legislature, and the revision of
the present disciplinary system at Auburn.

ties of leadership, academic standing in upper half of class, parti-
cipation in recognized campus activities, standing in the upper
third of his military class and the concurrence of his designation
as DMS by the President of Auburn University.

The Society of American Military Engineers is an associa-
tion in which engineers from all of the engineering services
of the armed forces and from all fields of civilian engineer-
ing practice and industry join to increase the engineering
potential of the United States for the security and strength
of the nation.
Summer Camp
Forty-three Auburn cadets attended the 1972 Fort Bragg Ad-
vanced Summer Camp. Few of these will soon forget the blister-
ing heat, the all day and most of the night training or the RE-
CONDO Course, all of which were their introduction to the life
of a junior officer. ROTC Summer Camp is the first real chance a
cadet has to get out in the field and apply what he has been
studying for three years. Additionally, Auburn had cadets attend
the 9 weeks Ranger School at Fort Benning, Georgia in lieu of the
Advanced Summer Camp. Each was awarded the highly coveted
"Ranger Tab".

Ranger Company
The Ranger Company, newly formed from
the now extinct Counterguerrilla Comparw,
is a volunteer organization for those ROTC
Cadets motivated toward a professional mil-
itary career. The training is designed to place
the cadet, by freguently rotating leadership
positions, in situations where his leadership
abilities are developed and tested. Small unit
tactics and individual skills such as rapelling,
hand-to-hand combat, and survival are
stressed. The necessity of team work is em-
phasized in all types of situations and has
developed within the company a special es-
rit-de-corps seldom found in other ROTC
