f Veteran actor Kabir Bedi will tell his life story in his memoir, which will be released in April. Entitled “Stories
I Must Tell: An Actor's Emotional Journey,” the actor will provide an honest glimpse into his life.
f Anindya Dutta, a banker turned author, penned a new book titled “Advantage India: The Story of Indian
Tennis”, a chronicle of Indian Tennis. Advantage India is a well-researched account of the journey of
Indian tennis, with a special section on the Doubles game and on women's tennis in India. The book is
published by Westland publications.
f The autobiography of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, popularly known as the “Frontier Gandhi”, titled “The
Frontier Gandhi: My Life and Struggle” is set to be published in English by the publishing house Roli Books.
This will be his first autobiography in English. The book was translated into English by Imitiaz Ahmad
Sahibzada, the former Pakistani civil servant and author.

f The Union Minister of Earth Sciences, Science & Technology, Dr Harsh Vardhan virtually inaugurated the
web-based application “Digital Ocean”. It has been developed by Hyderabad-based Indian National

Digital Ocean is a first of its kind digital platform for Ocean Data Management.
f The 21-year-old college student, Arya Rajendran has been elected the new mayor of
Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, of Kerala. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader, Arya is the

f Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has announced that a multi-modal
logistics park in Assam. It will be constructed in Silchar and the Balacherra-Harengajao section of the

public meeting at Zero Point on the East-West Corridor at Madhurmukh at Rangpur.

f The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has capped the amount of trans fatty acids
(TFA) in oils and fats to 3% for 2021 and 2% by 2022 from the current permissible limit of 5% through an
amendment to the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restriction on Sales) Regulations.
f It was in 2011 that India first passed a regulation that set a TFA limit of 10% in oils and fats, which was
further reduced to 5% in 2015.

f The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has restricted the permissible amount of
industrial Trans Fatty Acid (TFA) in food products to 2 per cent. The latest amendment will come into
effect from January 01, 2022. Currently, the permissible limit for trans fats in food products in 2021 is 3
per cent, cut down from the previous limit of 5 per cent.
f The Indian Army has laid the foundation stone of the tallest 'Iconic National Flag' at the famous skiresort
of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir. The flag will be on a 100 feet-high pole, the highest Tricolour in the
Valley. The Indian Army in collaboration with the Solar Industry India will install the 'Iconic National Flag'
at Gulmarg.
f The Delhi cabinet has approved “Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha” in which Rs 5,000 will be
provided to 1,000 meritorious students of Class 9 in schools of Delhi as a science scholarship. The
scholarship will provide a boost to science education in secondary classes at the school level. According
to the release, the students studying in Delhi schools who have secured more than 60 per cent in Class 8
are eligible for the examination. Students belonging to SC, ST, PH, or OBC category will be given a
relaxation of up to 5 per cent of marks.
f In Puducherry, a campaign has been launched titled “Zero Covid by Feb28” to ensure that there are no
COVID-19 cases by the end of February 2021, in the union territory. The overall caseload in Puducherry
was 39,448 while 38,533 had recovered so far, leaving 258 active cases.
f The Governor of West Bengal, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the 11th Rashtriya Sanskriti
Mahotsav at Cooch Behar Palace at West Bengal. The Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav is a flagship
programme of the Ministry of Culture, organised under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Programme,
since 2015, to celebrate the idea of unity in diversity. The event was inaugurated in the presence of

f Delhi government has approved the formation of a separate school board for nearly 2,700 schools in the

f Indian Railways' Western Railway zone has introduced a mobile train radio communication (MTRC)
system to facilitate direct and continuous communication between the train crew and the control centre

launched 'Wheels of Love', a holistic programme that supports new parents in the workforce. This is a
move to promote a progressive culture of care, inclusion and sensitisation within the organisation across

f ReNew Power has been named to the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Lighthouse Network, which
recognises companies using new technologies to achieve environmentally sustainable, community
supportive, profitable growth. ReNew Power is an Indian renewable energy company. It has an asset
base of over 8 GW, with around 5 GW operational. ReNew Power is one of the two Indian companies to be
recognised by the Global Lighthouse Network this year.
f In the Indian Ocean, the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) will launch the first-of-itskind project
of Genome Mapping.Indian Ocean covers about 20% of the Earths's water surface and so is the third
largest water bocy in the world. Its objective is to bather samples of genome mapping of microorganisms
in the Indian Ocean.
f Samsung India has announced that it has inaugurated a Samsung Innovation Lab at Delhi Technological
University (DTU) to focus on collaborative research and training. It has set up the innovation lab under
the Samsung Innovation Campus initiative as part of its new #PoweringDigitalIndia vision. With this
addition, Samsung now has eight technical labs spread across the country as part of its Samsung
Innovation Campus initiative, which was earlier called Samsung Digital Academy.

f The central government has extended the deadline for linking the Aadhaar number with the permanent

pay a penalty of up to Rs 1,000 and their PAN will become invalid.
f Indian Railways' West Central Railway zone gets fully electrified!, after CCRS Inspection and
Commissioning of electrification of Kota – Chittaurgarh railway section (Srinagar – Jalindri) in the state
of Rajasthan. West Central Railways has become the first fully electrified railway zone in the country. The
zonal railway now boasts a 3012 Route Km electrified network.
f In the Kashmir Valley, Tulip Festival in Srinagar was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Over 15 lakh flowers of more than 64 varieties are in full bloom on the foothills of the Zabarwan
Mountains. The five-day-long Tulip Festival in Asia's largest tulip garden at the foothills of Zabarwan hills

f Indian Army's Lieutenant Colonel, Bharat Pannu has earned two Guinness World Records for his fastest
solo cycling feats from October 2020. The first record was created when Lt Col Pannu cycled from Leh to
Manali (472 km distance) on October 10, 2020, in just 35 hours and 25 minutes. Lt Col Pannu created a
second record when he cycled the 5,942-km-long 'Golden Quadrilateral' route, which connects Delhi,
Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, in 14 days, 23 hours and 52 minutes.
f 'Lost golden city of Luxor' discovered by archaeologists in Egypt. The 3,400-year-old royal city was built
by Amenhotep III, abandoned by his heretic son, Akhenaten, and contains stunningly preserved
remains.

f The Central drug regulator, DCGA has approved emergency use authorisation of the Russian Vaccine,
Sputnik V. It has now become the third vaccine to get emergency use authorisation from the drug
regulator after Covishield and Covaxin. The Vaccine was developed by Gamaleya National Research
Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology last year in Russia.
f Skymet has released its monsoon forecast for 2021. Skymet expects the upcoming monsoon to be
'healthy normal' to the tune of 103% (with an error margin of +/- 5%) of the long period average (LPA) of
880.6 mm for the 4-month period from June to September.
f Following a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases, the Indian Railways will run 'Oxygen Express' trains
transporting liquid medical oxygen and oxygen cylinders across the country via green corridors to meet
growing demand from states. Green corridors are being created to ensure fast movement of these trains.
f Priyanka Mohite from Satara in western Maharashtra has scaled Mt Annapurna, the 10th highest
mountain peak in the world, becoming the first Indian woman climber to achieve the feat. Mount
Annapurna is a massif in the Himalayas located in Nepal that includes one peak over 8,000 metres and is

f Water Sports and Adventure Institute (WSAI) has been established by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police
(ITBP) at Tehri Dam in Uttarakhand. The institute was inaugurated on Friday by Chief Minister Tirath
Singh Rawat and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. ITBP's Mountaineering and Skiing Institute at Auli will
independently run this institution, which will impart training in aero, water and land-related sports and
adventure activities.
f The 40th Scientific Expedition to Antarctica (40-ISEA) hosted by the Ministry of Earth Sciences
successfully returned to Cape Town after completing a journey of about 12,000 nautical miles in 94 days,
including stopovers. This achievement concludes four successful decades of India's scientific endeavour
in the continent of peace and cooperation. The team reached its destination Bharati station on February
27 and Maitri station on March 8 in Antarctica. Bharati and Maitri are India's permanent research base
stations in Antarctica.
f UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, David Beckham, is fronting a global initiative to inspire confidence in
vaccines and encourage parents around the world to vaccinate their children against deadly diseases.
f The Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra has rolled out a project titled 'Oxygen on Wheels' to
ease the transportation of oxygen from producing plants to hospitals and homes, following acute oxygen
shortage amid a severe second wave of coronavirus. The 'Oxygen on Wheels' initiative will bridge the gap
between oxygen production and its transportation in India, especially in Maharashtra.
f Wipro regained its position as the 3rd largest Indian IT services company by market capitalization of
2.65 trillion by suppressing HCL Technologies' 2.62 trillion market cap. TCS remains at the top of the
list with a market cap of 11.51 trillion followed by Infosys.
f The world's largest aeroplane, designed to transport hypersonic vehicles and facilitate easy access to
space, soared into clear skies over California's Mojave Desert. The company Stratolaunch designed it to
transport hypersonic vehicles and facilitate easy access to space. The aircraft named 'Roc' features a
twin-fuselage design and the longest wingspan ever flown, at 385 feet (117 m), surpassing the Hughes
H-4 Hercules flying boat of 321 feet (98 m). The Stratolaunch is intended to carry a 550,000-pound
payload and will be able to launch rockets from high altitude.
f The world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge named “Arouca” was opened in Portugal, according to
a press release by UNESCO's Arouca World Geopark. The Arouca Bridge offers a halfkilometre (almost
1,700-foot) walk across its span, along a metal walkway suspended from cables. Some 175 meters (574
feet) below, the Paiva River flows through a waterfall.
f The Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IITB), has set up a demonstration unit to convert nitrogen
generators, which are found in all parts of India, into oxygen generators by fine-tuning the existing
nitrogen plant set up.The oxygen generated by this plant at IIT-B lab was tested and found to be 93-96%
pure and at 3.5 atmospheric pressure.
f US aerospace major Boeing announced a USD 10 million (about 74 crore) emergency assistance
package for India.The assistance from Boeing will be directed to organisations providing relief, including
medical supplies and emergency healthcare for communities and families battling the pandemic.
f In the West Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya, 100- million-year old fossil bone fragments of sauropod
dinosaurs have been found by researchers of the Geological Survey of India (GSI). The bone fragments
were collected from poorly sorted, purplish to greenish arkosic sandstone that was interlaid with pebbly
beds. Arzan Nagwaswalla, a 23-year-old left-arm seamer from Gujarat, has been picked as a reserve

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (wind speed of 118 to 166 km/hr). The latest cyclone alert issued by the
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that this storm would reach close to Gujarat coast,
Maharashtra, Goa. Light to moderate intensity rainfall is expected to continue over coastal Karnataka
and Kerala till Monday.

f European Space Agency (ESA) has confirmed using satellite images that the world's largest iceberg has
broken off Antarctica. Named as A-76, the iceberg was 4320 square kilometres in size, which is half the
size of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The finger-shaped iceberg broke off from the Ronne Ice shelf, a
massive ice shelf that encompasses an area of more than 400,000 sq. km. An Indian-origin Human
Sciences student from Magdalen College at the University of Oxford has been declared the winner at the
end of a Student Union (SU) byelection. Anvee Bhutani, Co-Chair Campaign for Racial Awareness and

f Cheetah, the world's fastest land animal which was declared extinct in India in 1952, is expected to be
re-introduced into the country in November this year at the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh.

f Tsang Yin-hung, a Hong Kong-based mountaineer, has created the record of the world's fastest ascent of
Everest by a woman, within the time of just under 26 hours. The 44-year-old Tsang, scaled the 8,848.86-
metre (29,031 feet) Everest mountain in a record time of 25 hours and 50 minutes on May 23. It was her
third attempt of scaling the Himalayan peak.
f The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), the apex body of broadcasters, is being renamed as Indian
Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF), as it expands its purview to cover digital platforms to bring
all digital (OTT) players under one roof. IBDF is in the process of forming a new wholly-owned subsidiary
to handle all matters pertaining to digital media.
