THE
ARBASPOTLUUTREE!
As I stepped in, It stayed up there, without a single crawl.
Into that huge edifice, People had long left,
The vibe had almost faded, But those imprints still remained,
It looked no less than a detritus. Love, misery or joy,
I swished into every corner, Nothing of them, was arcaned.
Trying to catch a bit of it, I sat, on the mushy chair,
But it was all in vain, Just to feel and imbibe,
It was now nothing, but a A bit of that aura,
The people were in, And some tranquility to dive.
But still something went missing, That ‘tan-coloured’ audio player,
That one feeling of ecstasy, All vintaged and a little broken,
And the happy sunlight beaming. Still lay, on that narrow wedge,
Crossing all the three floors, My hands trembled, as I switched on,
Including those messy desks and wide cabins, To hear that placid rhythm of bliss.
But then nowhere in the middle, Once again, I rejoiced,
I stopped, and almost hobbled. Those few moments of allaying,
I could feel a thing, Twenty years, and it still ringed,
Strong yet mild, rough yet gentle, The ‘home’, a profound love, and it’s calling!
It was just a few steps away,
Near that old broke ingle. -Anmol Gupta

Realisation of truth, realisation of love;
Pain and suffering, “I don’t deserve”;
She hates me but that doesn’t prove me wrong;
I love her, thus her ignorance makes me strong;
She once said, “I am by your side always”,
Never she knew she had promises to embrace;
For she realised too late, “they can’t be together”
For her family, she decided to leave forever;
Tough it was to fake around, tough it was to deal;
She prayed, “may he get the love of his life”
And her feelings for him and love, she sealed;
Selfish she wasn’t, she cared for him more than her life;
She stopped showing, but concealed emotions changed her;
On the other hand, he couldn’t deal with her changed behaviour;

But deep within they knew, they are made for each other;

But not do we. Where passion and love dies,

But very dead alone. For its been so long without the presence,
It shall too pass, It no more seems like an absence.
But it never passes enough, Of all the time of too much debating,
For years we have suffered, Go for prepping,
Craved for the warmth in, It’s time for longest Napping.
Oh, how my love; You are and will always be the home to heart,
Shall we cave in? Love never goes away too far,
Let’s condescend in stars, For we must never meet again,
They never align, Let’s be fain,
Your presence still incite, Love lays not in drain,

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE:
REVOLUTIONIZING
RECRUITMENT Artificial Intelligence is a new buzzword
in the corporate world. AI in recruitment
is revolutionizing the entire recruitment
process. It is an upcoming area which can
reduce and even remove time-consuming
activities involved in the recruitment process.
AI is a game changer in the job market today
as organizations grapple with the challenges
of cost and time to identify, attract, engage
and retail talent. AI is changing the way in
which recruiters discover and hire talent. It
is empowering recruiters to become smarter
and more efficient by reinventing the hiring
process. AI is performing the mainstream
activities in recruitment such as sorting
through a large number of resumes or social
media profiles to find the right fit for the job,
analyzing vocal tone or facial expressions of
the candidates in video interviews, and keeping
applicants updated of their hiring status.
Prasad Rajappan, MD, ZingHR states that AI
has revolutionized the entire recruitment
process by applying complex mathematical
models on sound HR domain expertise and
established HR models to predict the success
of a candidate. It can even curb biases such as
sexual orientation, religion, political affiliations
of the candidate and thus can improve the
overall candidate experience. In a global trend

ARE YOU TAKING TWO
OR MORE MEDICINES
TOGETHER?
The medication errors can be in any form. It may occur due to error in prescribing, dispensing, or drug
administration. As per the National Patient Safety Agent Report 2004 (UK) and the IOM (Institute of
Medicine) report (USA), medication error causes large number of deaths each year.
These days Polypharmacy can be seen very often in the prescription. More over along with allopathy
therapy patients may be using some other therapy of treatment like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Sidda,
Unani, Naturopathy, Nutraceutical, Yoga, Transfer Factor or other non-pharmacological treatments.
This intermixing use of therapy or Polypharmacy may lead to Drug- Drug interaction (DDI), Food- Drug
Interaction, Drug-Disease Interaction etc. Drug-drug interactions are very common nowadays due to
increased practice of Polypharmacy to treat different kinds of diseases and at the same time this is major
contributor for medical errors or therapeutic failure. Many serious health problems have been recorded
for which drug-drug interactions found to be the major cause.
The effect of interaction may be synergistic (increase) or antagonistic (decrease) i.e, one drug can increase
or decrease the effect of the other. Drug interaction can also produce a new effect. DDIs can be harmful
as
it can either increase the toxicity or reduce the efficacy of the drug. DDIs can be predictable as well as
non-predictable. It can occur in any age group involving children, adults, and even geriatric population.
Here are the few clinically observed outcomes of DDIs caused by the alteration in the absorption of drugs:
15
Complexation and adsorption:
Example: Tetracycline with calcium carbonate—both drugs bind to form chelation and calcium carbonate
which may decrease the effect of tetracycline.
Alteration in GI pH:
Example: Aspirin with calcium carbonate—both together can lead to Calcium carbonate which decreases
the effect of aspirin.
Alteration in gut motility:
Example: Levodopa with metoclopramide—both together can lead to Metoclopramide reducing the
effectiveness of levodopa by pharmacodynamics antagonism.
Alteration of GI micro flora:
Example: Digoxin with clarithromycin—both together can lead to Increases blood levels and effects of
digoxin.
Malabsorption syndrome:
Example: Vitamin A, vitamin B12, vitamin K, vitamin D, folic acid, iron, calcium with neomycin—can lead to
Neomycin which can decrease absorption or increase elimination of these nutrients.
Furthermore much Interaction could affect distribution, metabolism and elimination of drugs in the body.
In addition to this many Food-Drug Interaction or Drug-Disease Interactions can cause serious adverse
effects.
It is always suggested to have discussion with Physician, Clinical Pharmacist, and Medication Safety
officer before initiating treatment. Individualizing Therapy and proper counseling should be done before
initiating therapy. Next time, if you or your beloved get sick never forget to have discussion with your
Physician or Clinical Pharmacist about Drug-Drug Interaction or Drug-Food interaction. Always live

ECO-FRIENDLY DIWALI
When we hear the word “Diwali”, there’s an obvious muse in our heads surrounded around the lights,
sweets and the firecrackers. The nation wide festival of felicity brings people together over the exchange
of gifts and conversations. But since the past couple of years, festival of Diwali has been a notorious
issue for bringing about an increased amount of air and noise pollution. Taking this nature-degrading
matter into account, Supreme Court intervened and ruled out a blanket ban on the manufacture and sale
of firecrackers, but restricted its use to tackle concerns of deadly pollution. It suggested manufacture of
“green crackers” with low emission and decibel standards, community cracker bursting in major cities
and a freeze on the production of series crackers or larris.
SC also opened a 2 hour window saying “During Diwali, firecrackers could be burst between 8 pm and 10
pm.”
Taking other events too into account the apex court also added, “people can burst them on Christmas and
New Year days between 11.55 pm and 12.30 am.”
Holding that the SC has to “strive a nice balance between the two competing interests” of the right to
health of citizens and the right to carry on trade by fireworks manufacturers, a bench led by Justice AK
Sikri suggested community bursting of firecrackers, “Only crackers that are within noise pollution limits
will be allowed in designated spots which would be identified within a week” Court also banned sale of

TEACHER STUDENT BONDING
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO WELCOME SOMEONE NEW TO THE FAMILY?
Many would say to be formal and interact in limits, but here at MMDU, we make sure that the new buds are
welcomed with open arms and warm hearts. With music to dance to, and the interactive sessions at the
fresher’s party, a lot of new students found their new family away from home. It is indeed a day to cherish
the new memories spun around the little new ones and the elder ones in the college families. All the
happy and merry faces make us believe that their respective journeys are going to be awesome indeed.

And it happened
A thousand dreams that flew,
One stitch with every crafty glue,
Dancing students on music,
Cramps and exertion, got ‘em sick.
Sticks and stones may break bones,
Schedule calls, hundreds struck on phones.
Chiding, screaming and slamming.
Merry, fun, and jamming.
Months prior to the events,
Things prior the events,
Things going down; it happens,
But all’s well that ends well,
Shouting and last minute dwells,
And it happened.
The most extravagant event, UNIVERSUMM’18
Competitions all too keen,
Quiz, Poetry, and thrill,
Night campus, too shrill.
Grooving to the beat,
Sticky swollen smelly feet.
Festive spirit, fierce and high,
Success skyrocketing high,
And that’s how it happened,
Seed of joy, for another year dampened.

Life is not a lesson to be learnt or a game to be

An ordinary life consists of good and bad times, nice

Our lives are like tiny ferries set in a stormy ocean
where the world is a ruthless sea. So,
DON'T laugh if somebody's boat topples over,
for its not like yours won't rock ever, But don't cry
if yours does rock because the storm won't last

The trick is to have a perception so pure, a
perspective so clear and positive, so that you can

Soft Skills: A Key to
Employability
When we talk about a professional course, the very first thing that comes in our mind is the technical
aspects of the course or training. What will be the specific skills or abilities that a student will acquire
after the completion of the said degree? We concentrate on the technical or functional skills that are
directly related to the respective job. e.g. if you are an engineer, it is expected that you have an in depth
knowledge of your specific field. But these are the skills which can be tested or measured.
However in today’s scenario, merely possessing the technical skills is not sufficient. These are the
skills which will make your CV shortlisted for the interview. Today's employer expect much more than
these techninal or hard skills. The employers concentrate on the personal attributes and qualities that a
person possess known as soft skills. Soft skills are the personal attributes that affect your relationships,
communication, and interaction with others. These are the personal attributes that enable one to interact
well with others. The emphasis these days is more on Emotional Quotient (EQ) rather than Intelligence
Quotient(IQ). The ability to understand and deal with one’s feelings in any given situation helps one to
complement his academic intelligence i.e. his IQ with a humane understanding of issues.
In an interview what makes you different from the other candidates are only these soft skills which
encompass - communicating effectively, problem solving abilities, empathy and compassion for others,
team working, negotiating skills etc. Technical skills or hard skills may make one's resume impressive,
but the soft skills are what will set you apart from many candidates who have similar expertise to you.
Soft skills are completely different, in the way that they relate to embody qualities of a person and are
often an inherent part of one's personality. Research shows that the contribution of hard skills is a mere
15% in one’s skill success as compared to the soft skills which contributes 85% in one's professional
growth. It is at this point where ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ skills meet and are equally essential to be acquired and
mastered.
Soft skills help a person to get to know one self, inculcate positive thoughts, gain confidence, improve
behaviour- politeness, team work, leadership skills and help to learn better communication and develop
a healthy physique- following a healthy way of life. These skills provide them a clear understanding as
to who are they and how best they can come across as competent individuals in any given situation.
Soft skills provide an aid to an individual to inculcate positive qualities like punctuality, flexible attitude,
willingness to learn, friendly nature and so on. One can develop an impressive personality that makes you
stand apart from the rest. Soft skills also play an essential role in improving one’s communication skills.
Individuals need to master the art of expressing their thoughts and feelings in an effective and desired
way. They help to make you a confident individual who is appreciated and respected wherever he goes.
It becomes very important for the students of professional courses to understand the importance of soft
skills, which play a determining role in the success of their careers. There is no doubt that hard skills are
necessarily to acquire knowledge and expertise in the specific field. They can be taught, can be learned
and perfected over a period of time. But unlike hard skills, soft skills can't be taught in the class room
environment or in labs. As they are closely linked with a person’s character, they have little to do with the
knowledge and expertise of the person. They are to be developd with one's conscious efforts. It requires
37
cognizant efforts, regular practice, and a sense of self commitment to improve these skills.
The very first step towards this is that one has to recognize and acknowledge the areas of his personality
which need to be improved. One can do this through personal introspection and self evaluation. It can also
be through impartial feedback from trusted colleagues or friends. After you introspect your strengths and
weaknesses, a plan of action for improvement is to be initiated. Flexible attitude and changing of one's
mindset play a significant role in bringing about improvement in the attitude and behaviour.
These skills play a pivotal role in enhancing employment opportunities and facilitate them in their
professional environment. The effectiveness of a professional lies in his ability to put his domain knowledge
into effective practice. Soft skills play a crucial role in this context. Soft skills help the students by providing
them a strong conceptual and practical framework. They learn and manage to work in teams, which
provide them a platform to be an efficient manager. Soft skills help to develop their overall personality,
thereby enhancing their career prospects. The effective use of English language, presentations, team
building, leadership skills, time management, group discussions, and interviews all help the student to
make a better professional. These days, the task of a manager is not just confined to managing the things,
but he has to deal with the emotional level of the peers, subordinates, superiors, clients, suppliers, etc.
and it is possible only through Emotional Intelligence (EI). In the present scenario where the relationships
between the individuals and organisations are getting more and more complex, it becomes mandatory
that as a professional one should have an excellent EI. It is through proper understanding of other's
feelings and emotions that can build and sustain effective relationships, resulting in mutual gain.
Scoring high marks in subjects and having excellent academic does not guarantee a student a bright
professional career ahead. He has to work upon his speaking abilities and confidence, he should have
fine etiquettes and manners, which will add to his style and grace and his overall personality. It is his
personality that sets him apart from the crowd and makes everyone focussed on you. Soft skills are very
much important if one wants to leave a positive mark on the people one interacts with, whether daily or
once. These skills distinguish one person from the other. A person with good and strong personality creates
positive vibes around him and is able to express his thoughts in the most desired way. An indiscipline
individual, on the other hand, finds it difficult to survive in any organization in long run. But all these are
not built in a day. Regular and conscious efforts need to be put in to achieve this objective. Soft skills play
a vital role in making a person a better human being with excellent social and managerial skills. All are
important for students’ academic development and growth. A professional course, which intends to make
a student employable must give due importance to it.

What Would People
Think?
An epiphany of extreme concerns today is the remarkable fact that "what would people think if someone
does something out of the box?". The emotional melodramas and the thoughts connected so far are
something that stop every individual from being triumphant in their respected trades and passions, as a
result, the new ideas and passions suffer in this distressed yet distressing world! Now the time has come
when people will commit crime themselves and are ready to judge someone on the same crime even if
he or she is fully innocent, Why? Because of a very simple fact that if they don't act so what would people
think of them, consider them as alienated mindsets or at the most the culprit of the same crime! The
harsh truth is, even if we wish to act normal, live a normal life, we would still be highly concerned about
people's opinion about us rather than our own choices.
In the modern yet inhumane era today, every person wants to achieve the best of what he or she can
but is completely traumatised by considering the views of society and a few best examples of the same
lie in our own lives when it comes to career selections, lifestyles, openness to others and innumerable
more. Although governments and systems support the race of being out of the trend but the whole
building of new trends has a very weak foundation of peer and social support and hence collapses in the
same circumstances so far. With the advancements in our day to day routines and lifestyles, somehow,
our support for new ventures and different life living methodologies should increase in order to make
noticeable progress towards development and growth in terms of technology, life set and of course
mental support. Nowadays we've been witnessing a plethora of daunting challenges within our day to
day world because of the same limited causes of the social, self or monetary issues and the whole world
faces the new troubles comprising lack of innovation, entrepreneurial skills and above all socialism and
unity amongst people to be supportive enough for others.
A great thinker once said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world!" Listening and thinking the very
same is way too easier than to act accordingly and in this quest to act we loose our hopes of seeing any
change because we don't! Why not take an initiative today to make people realise that whatever decision
or step they take according to their will is completely FINE! Of course because their life is their life,
none of our life! Sooner or later we all have to admit the same and we should understand that delaying
the same is nothing but complete blasphemy keeping truth of tomorrow in today's veil. Let the elixir of
freeness and true independence flow out of the grail of unsupportive society and self-contentment truly
reside in our lives.
