FALL PARENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE | SATURDAY SEPT. 15 | 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM | BORONDA MEADOWS
T he Fall Parent Leadership Conference will take place on Saturday, Sep-
tember 15, 2018 from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Boronda Meadows Elemen-
tary School.
Guest speakers will include County Supervisor Simon Salinas, and Superintendent
Martha Martinez.
New topics for the Fall Parent Leadership Conference include:
• Student Attendance: A Building Block for Student Achievement
• Emergency Preparedness in Schools
• Health and Wellness.
Our site Parent Coordinators will also host a workshop reviewing all district parent programs.
Other Highlights:
• A Health and Wellness mobile lab that will conduct free dental and basic
physical health screenings.
• Members of the Salinas Fire Department and Police Department will be
present to provide safety information.

TRANSPORTATION TRAININGS
TO KICK OFF THE NEW YEAR
N ot only are our Bus Drivers and Transportation Deparment driving
around our students throughout the City, they also serve as a first
line of defense if something were to occur on the roadway.
Our Transportation department participated in various trainings to kick off the
new school year. They conducted First Aid, CPR, AED trainings along with col-
laboration with PG&E dealing with downed powerlines. There intention is to be
better prepared to deal with disasters and rescue procedures when misfortunes
occur, while keeping our students safe and secure.

PARAEDUCATORS
ARE READY FOR THE NEW YEAR
W ow, what an exciting start to the year for
our Paraeducators!
On August 15th, over 40 Paraeducators
came together to learn about the various interventions
that the district is offering students and how they can
be an important part of the team.
On August 21st and 22nd again 40 Paraeducators made
the trek to the District Office to learn how to work with
our Kindergarten students with Benchmark and Eureka
Math during small group instruction.
The dedication of our Paraeducators to continue to
grow and learn is a testament to the caliber of people
we have working in our district. Trainings for Paraedu-
cators will continue to be offered throughout the year.
Our next meeting will be on September 13th, District
Board room, 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
