LAUREN FRANCES EVANS

Originally from Atlanta, GA, Lauren Frances Evans currently lives and works in Birmingham,
AL, where she is Assistant Professor of Art at Samford University. Evans completed her
undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston and received her MFA from the
University of Maryland. She went on to serve as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University
of Iowa in the School of Art & Art History as well as Visiting Professor at Grinnell College.
Evans has participated in residencies at Franconia Sculpture Park, Elsewhere Living
Museum, and the Vermont Studio Center. She was awarded the International Sculpture
Center’s 2014 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award and
was a recipient of an Artist Project Grant from the Iowa Arts Council. Evans’ work and writing
has been featured in several publications including The Other Journal, PromptPress, and
CIVA’s Seen Journal. Last year, she presented a paper at the CAA conference entitled “How
We Are Fed: Artist Mothers and the Online Community,” and organized a session titled “The
Artist as Parent as Academic” for the SECAC conference. Evans is the founder and facilitator
of the Artist/Parent/Academic Network and she was featured on ep. 22 of the Artist/Mother
Podcast. She is also currently serving as a mentor for the Artist/Mother Crit groups. Most
importantly, she is mom to Agnes Prairie and Edie Moon.

STEVEN MARK FINLEY JR.

Painter Steven Mark Finley Jr. lives and practices in his hometown of Birmingham, AL.
Born and raised within the inner city and greater Birmingham area, Finley developed his
love for drawing, painting, and the arts at a very early age. Graduating from Hoover High
School, Finley went on to earn a BFA in art from the University of Montevallo. Finley is
now extending his expertise full force into Birmingham’s creative community. He currently
practices within the creative space known as Common Place Woodlawn and slings coffee
as a Barista with Domestique Coffee at their Panache location in Five Points South. When
Finley is not painting or slinging coffee, he is lighting up someone’s dancefloor under the
stage moniker, Stevo Blaque.

SYDNEY A. FOSTER

Sydney A. Foster, originally from Montgomery, AL, is a photographer and director based
in Atlanta, GA. Her work revolves around vibrancy, southern black culture, feminism, and
the rawness of all people, places and things. Sydney’s work is heavily influenced by social
equality, African American women, and being a voice of reason to those who too, are afraid
to speak up and out.

ROSCOE HALL

Roscoe is a native of Chicago with intense southern roots. He received his BFA in
Photography from the University of San Diego, San Diego, CA, in 2003 and his MFA in Art
History from the Savannah College of Art & Design, Savannah, GA, in 2008. Pursuing his
education lured him to the West Coast and through Coastal Georgia, New York, and the
Pacific Northwest. He now lives and works in Birmingham with his wife Emily and their two
children, where he is represented by Scott Miller Projects.

CHINTIA KIRANA

Based in Montgomery, AL, Chintia Kirana is a multidisciplinary artist from Jakarta, Indonesia.
She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting & Drawing from Southern Illinois University
Carbondale. Her work has been featured in solo, group, and juried exhibitions across the
United States and abroad including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Montgomery
Museum of Fine Arts, Wiregrass Museum of Art, Dhaka National Museum of Art, Sienna Art
Academy, Zhou B Art Center, and ISE Cultural Foundation. Aside from her studio practice,
Kirana is a board member of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts and is a Cultural Affairs
Ambassador for the City of Montgomery. Kirana has founded and co-founded artistic initiatives
including Expose Art Magazine, Expose Art House, and Montgomery Arts Project (MAP).

JONATHAN LANIER

Jonathan Lanier is a sculptor originally from Montgomery, AL. He received his BFA from
the University of Alabama in 2019 with a concentration on sculpture and ceramics. After
graduating, he was hired as a full-time foundry specialist at UA where he assisted in the
realization of multiple public art projects around the South. Lanier is currently pursuing an
MFA in sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

JASPER LEE

Jasper Lee is a musician and artist from central Alabama. His video and sound installations
explore these mediums as tools for building community, creating ritual, and engaging with
folklore. His work in film has included composing scores for feature films, directing music
videos and creating art films which have screened at festivals internationally. He is also a
performer and organizer in the experimental music scene of Birmingham, AL, where he
curates the music label Sweet Wreath.
