MISSY ROLL
Missy Roll is a maker who has been working and living in Birmingham, AL, for 10 years. She
holds degrees from Ringling School of Art and Design and Parsons School of Design in Fine
Arts and Photography. Missy has always had an appreciation for function and home, leading
her to focus on loop pile rug making in her recent work. The repetition in making is a nod to
Missy’s own every day experience in her decision to quit drinking, which was driven by her
mother’s diagnosis of alcohol-induced dimentia. Missy’s current work reflects on how her
mother describes her memory due to the diagnosis.
