However, Scar convinces Simba that he is responsible for his own father’s death, and advises him to run away from the Pride Lands, never to return. Scar once again sends the hyenas to kill Simba, but Simba manages to escape. Scar happily informs the pride that both Mufasa and Simba are killed by the hyenas, and that he is taking over the throne as he is the closest relative of the king. Simba returns after Scar strikes his mother. He forces Simba over the edge of Pride Rock, just as a lightning bolt starts a fire below. As Simba dangles over the edge of Pride Rock, Scar whispers to Simba that he killed Mufasa. Enraged, Simba leaps up and pins Scar to the ground, forcing him to admit the truth to the pride.
