KNOW YOUR

POWER

Shades of purple to pink

were used as the colors of

the sky because purple is

the official color of

International Women's

Day whereas pink is the

common color of female

sign. 5 women with

different attires, skin

colors, and hair colors

represents women all

around the world with

different cultural

backgrounds.

They are patting each other on the back, showing support, love, and
care to one another. This aligns with the message of encouragement by
Serena Williams, an American professional tennis player - "Every
woman's success should be an inspiration to another. We're strongest
when we cheer each other on." They are standing on the mountaintop
with one of the women pointing her hand towards the sky. This
illustrates the message of encouragement by Michelle Obama, an
American attorney -"There is no limit to what we as women can
accomplish". I hope this illustration can empower women and girls to
be brave to challenge our own limits and believe that we are stronger
than we thought because we have the girl power. Own your story, be
who and what you wants. "

ABSENT PARENT

She walked in on me with my headphones in
My day was nearly done
The clock kept repeating half past-ten
Few minutes in
I looked up to find her smiling down on me.
“Hello, my love. How has it been?”
I replied with a nod, she knew everything there is
She stayed awhile longer,
Silence seeping in.
Sleep taking over as we lay in bed.
Waking up to an alarm at half past 6
“Do you have work?”
She nodded, wiping sleep off her face.
Like a hurricane or a whirlwind,
Our floors were clean.
The clothes dumped into the washing machine.
Washrooms so clean I didn’t want to step in.

She walked into my room
Plate in hand and smile across her lips

ABSENT PARENT

My mind was haywire, the word just slipped out
“Leave” I said and she obliged
6 pm, I read the time, a surprise for the birthday of
mine.
The clock read 12 as the laptop shut.
I stepped out the room to brush and wash up
A trail I saw; red petals and candlelight.
Followed it to find my mother seated
Her head tucked and cake by her side.
I caught her shiver and grabbed a blanket
Covered her up and kissed her forehead.
It’s been close to a year now,
Since we both began working.
Her in her forties and I'm just beginning.
We order in on tired days
We lay in bed for the pain to thaw away.
But nothing changes
Days but all the same
I wake each morning to an absent mother
She comes home to a hibernating daze.

"This is a picture of my GrandMa when she was much
younger and a picture of her now. My GrandMa came from an
average income family which she never had much education
as fathers back then did not allow daughters to attend
schools. But that did not stop my GrandMa's desire of
learning. Soon after she was married, my GrandPa wasn't
really capable of supporting the entire family therefore
GrandMa was mainly the breadwinner of the family. Her back
got hunched after many years of hardship. I like to show my
love and appreciation for my GrandMa for the discipline and
determination she had shown me in life."

Women in Life
Mother
The one who born us
Sacrificing her health and nutrients
Singing the sweetest lullaby
Pouring her full soul and heart to us

Grandmother
The one who look after us
Lovely face with wrinkles
Defending the scolds from parents
Giving the utmost love for us

Wife
The one who trust us
Giving birth to our child
Taking care our home
Entrusting us for the rest of their life journey

Without them
We may not be who we are now
Appreciate the women in our life

Women being Champions

"This is my sister that had just finished her Chambering. After this,
her life would be exceptionally adventurous as she is on a path to be
an independent proud lawyer. Many used to criticize that women
wasn't capable of achieving their dreams and they are better off
being a house-wife instead. I will only support in the statement that
women can be in any profession as long as they wish to be in. Gone
were the days where only certain career or profession are only
entitled to men. A new generation is born and they will conquer the
world equally

Women of Century

"The three strong women above the pictures are being depicted as time
machine of the past. I was visiting a country side of China and came across
these three gray-hair women that were chilling in an ancient Chinese house

dome. The tour guide introduce us to them and told us some stories that
dated past long history, about how they survive World War 2, about what
was China like after the war ended. Having the privilege to meet them was
an eye-opener. To me, they were inspiring courageous women. To them

being a women, being able to lived peacefully is a blessing but being
appreciated was the least option they had consider. Therefore, I hereby
would like to remind everyone that we mustn't take the courage and dignity
of a women for granted for they are the key to every victory in any battle we

as one fought.

Miscellaneous

THIeF

Burned in my mind
Your tiny silhouette from behind
It was silent, it was swift
You came in when I most needed a lift
Just a small bit of kindness
To swallow up my sadness
Your words and your shimmering smile
Turned my wild wandering soul docile
The long nights you comforted me
As we shared dreams and epiphanies
Though we may now be apart
I will forever remember you, thief of my heart

EPIPHANY

EEnnddeeaavvoouurrss

I'm going to write this down before my ego
brushes all of this away. It's true when you’re sick
you tend to reflect a lot on yourself and what you
did to other people. Though I sound like I'm
dying but I’m impressed.

She is really, really nice, almost too nice to be
true. It's displaced and weird, a lot has been
thrown into her face yet she still keeps a really
bright heart. Honestly, comparing her to me, I
take the worst in people like I did it to her and I
don't want to blame my own past for this, I
should’ve left them behind. Literally I throw my
fears onto her and when she does something that
I would feel taken aback with, I just focus on that.
I deserve to be lashed out that day?

75

Endeavours

I say things and I complain about people a lot. Yet,
I could be sincere when facing them the next day
then regretting whatever I said. I judged others
way too quickly like I did with her. Though I still
won’t deny the fact that her attitude changed to
become snappy and surprisingly only to me, so it
makes me look like a total lunatic. Honestly, if she
gave me that attitude the first time I met her, I
would have most probably never associated myself
with her. Literally the most interesting part is she
completely denied the fact that she was rude with
her cute troop of friends supporting her never
ending kindness through cute poles.

Yet, I was wrong to assume, to assume her act of
snapping was rude after 'all that she’s done for me'
but I'm glad all of this happened. It sort of reveals
how we’re not compatible to be friends, and
reveals both of our weaknesses that will never
make up for one another. I guess total ignorance
does run in her more than she realises and maybe
my moment of sympathy towards her has died.

Wildflower

Sheltered beneath a rose garden,
under plastic leaves, a thousand likes.

Honey,
I see you in the mirror, you’re not me,

please carve this shape of mine.
I live among perfect curves
in an imperfect world
envying straight lines.
Is it the colour of my skin
the clothes I wear
or my pretty lies.

See the world through a kid's eyes
of what beauty really means.
A slim, fair figurine

brushing powder on fake dreams.
Let words submerge in water
tell me looks don't matter
when my job, my house, my life
rests on my skin.

Do what's right and be who you are
in a world that does not want you.

These scars I will not hide
even if my body drowns in fright,

even when I am unloved.
Because this is who I love

because this is me.
A story,

I would not choose differently.
