The tenets of the Oblation always answer on the service for the masses. As a beacon of hope, the generation of Iskos and Iskas offer their lives to aid those in need and illuminate the lives of those unsung – like those tagged as “minorities.”
Every month of October, we observe National Indigenous People’s Month where we recognize the different Indigenous Cultural Communities by honoring their lives and their contributions to society. Moreso, this is a time when we integrate with the community and amplify calls that protect their rights and forward their welfare. We recognize that living has become a struggle as they always risk their lives for the attainment of basic rights.
In the resonance of the risks IPs face, Tayâ or risk is this year’s Indigenous People’s Month theme. As Iskolars para sa bayan, we must commit to the leap of faith and figure out what is best for the masses. It is about taking risks for the greater good.
This year’s Indigenous People’s Month will consist of an online exhibit, a situationer, and a donation drive. Apart from these, we will be conducting an Outreach Program in an Aeta Community in Pampanga on the 29th of October in honor of the National Indigenous Peoples Thanksgiving Day.
