Introduction
About Catedral de Burgos
This building's full name is Catedral de Santa María de Burgos. It
is a Catholic temple dedicated to the Virgin Mary located in
Burgos, a city in Spain. It was declared a National Monument and
a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. It is the highest-
ranking Catholic temple in Castilla y León since it is both a
metropolitan cathedral and a basilica. In 1994 the restoration
work began. 30 million euros were invested. It is the European

Problem solving upon completing the

The starting of the project is very tough, the scale of the building
can hardly be calculated. To solve the problem, we had to create
a prototype of a part of the building and compare it with the
reference we got. With the building map, we are able to calculate
and compare the scale based on the prototype. Later, we also try
our best to match the real site's colour with the building's colour
in Minecraft.

Design Inspiration
This work is inspired by the diverse cultural heritage of the
Malacca city. The Dutch square is one of the historical sites
bedecked with glory and colour. While appreciating the colonial
architecture of the Dutch, the Dutch square also reminds us of
the importance of world peace.
Introduction to Dutch Square,
Melaka
Dutch Square Melaka
Dutch Square was built by the Dutch when they conquered
Melaka during 1641-1825. The main buildings in Dutch Square are
Melaka Clock Tower, Christ Church Melaka and Stadthuys.
1. Melaka Clock Tower 3. Malaysia Youth Museum and Melaka Art
Gallery
Built in 1886, Melaka Clock Tower is 3 storeys high with a
working clock at all four sides of the third storey. It is topped This building consists of two storeys. Malaysia Youth Museum is

at the first floor. Malaysia Youth Museum is dedicated to the
youth of Malaysia. Melaka Art Gallery exhibits 150 paintings, 30
sculptures, and some calligraphy and movie etc.
4. Christ Church Melaka
Christ Church Melaka was completed in 1753. It was originally
painted white. In 1991, the church with the neighbouring
Stadthuys was painted red. It has a church bell on top of the
roof.
2. Queen Victoria's Fountain
Built in 1901, Queen Victoria's Fountain has an obvious victorian
style. It is used to commemorate Queen Victoria.
5. Stadthuys 3. Malaysia Youth Museum and Melaka Art
Gallery
Stadthuys is one of the most important historical sites in
Malacca City. It was originally the governor's residence and town
hall, but the building was turned into a museum in 1982. It is
Malacca's premier museum which displays traditional costumes
and artifacts throughout the history of Malacca.

1. Melaka Clock Tower
We started off our project with a building of Melaka Clock
Tower. We also decided on the materials we will be using for our
pathway in the whole Dutch Square.

Christ Church Melaka (interior)
Then, we built a small garden, resembling the real garden in real
world, next to the existing Melaka Clock Tower. It had a tree in
the middle of it and lots of grass and flowers surrounding the
tree.
5. Stadthuys 3. Queen Victoria's Fountain, Christ Church
Melaka and Melaka Art Gallery
We built a draft of Melaka Art Gallery, Christ Church Melaka and
Queen Victoria's fountain. We also extended the pathway using
the same pattern.
4. Modifying Christ Church Melaka
We modified Christ Church Melaka, in order to make it more
similar to the real church. Read more about the process of this in
"Problem Solving".

8. Modifying Malaysia Youth Museum and
Melaka Art Gallery
Upon completing Christ Church Melaka, we started to build the
exterior of Malaysia Youth Museum and Melaka Art Gallery. This
building consists of two storeys: Malaysia Youth Museum is
situated at the ground floor while Melaka Art Gallery is located
at the first floor.
6. Interior of Christ Church Melaka
Next, we built the interior of Christ Church Melaka. We built the
seats, stage and stairs at the side of it which is leading from the
entrance. We decorated the ceiling with sea lanterns to make
the place brighter.
9. Interior of Malaysia Youth Museum
We also built the interior of Malaysia Youth Museum. We added
a book on a lectern and an NPC as the officer. We also added
some potted plants to decorate the area and sea lanterns to
brighten the place.
10. Interior of Melaka Art Gallery Problem Solving
We built the interior of Melaka Art Gallery, and added some Main Problem
paintings on the wall. There is a book on the lectern if you want
to learn more about the history and exhibitions of this gallery. We noticed that there are no alphabet blocks in Minecraft and
that building a large row of words on a building is highly
impossible. We tried to use a sign board but the text size was too
small and difficult to notice from afar.
11. Exterior of Stadthuys
Then, we started building the last building, Stadthuys. We built
its exterior which consists of many windows and some stairs at
the entrance of it. We also completed the floor pattern in front
of the Stadthuys.
Problem Solving Process
We searched on Google for more information about our
problem. Eventually, we found out that this website Tynker.com
allows the users to customize our own building blocks. We
designed all of the alphabets of Christ church on this website.
Then, we uploaded the file in our Minecraft and activated it in
our world.
12. Completion of Stadthuys
We complete the Stadthuys building and built the interior of it.
We also added an NPC and a book on the lectern about the
building. The whole project is finally completed.
After Solving the Problem
After building the words on Christ Church Melaka, we noticed it 2. Rachel Ong Wey Fang

especially on how to give our sites the wow factor. For instance,

buildings just to help players enjoy our world! Next, we built the Chichen Itza. Although we found many
tutorials on Youtube, they were all inaccurate to the real life
measurement. Therefore, we had to build the Chichen Itza by
ourselves which took another 3 weeks.
After all, we have learnt many new lessons through the entire
interesting and extremely enjoyable building process. 1) ℭ
For the 2 weeks, we focused on our first structure, the
colosseum. As It was the biggest and most complicated structure
in our city, it naturally required the most time.
Before we started construction, we compiled and shortlisted all
the structures each of us wanted to build. We were also inspired
by minecraft builders like Grian and Pewdiepie on Youtube and
decided to start building our own structures. A Gantt chart was
also made to ensure we were on track with our building plans.

for more than 1,000 years, Kyoto illustrates the development of
Japanese wooden architecture, particularly religious
architecture, and the art of Japanese gardens, which has
influenced landscape gardening the world over. This can be seen
with the construction of the seventeen components of the

This is our comparison of the real site and the build in minecraft.

Problem Solving Problem Statement 1: Time to build shortened due to personal
lifestyles.
Solution: Assign work on a weekly basis and meet up for
discussion during weekends.
Problem Statement 2: Limited time due to school examinations.
Solution: Assign work based on team members' strength to
enhance efficiency so that more time can be freed up for
revision prior to examination.
Problem Statement 3: Unable to visit the actual site together for
material reference.
Solution: Properly communicate on the acquired information to
be accurate and precise as well as visiting the actual site
separately based on personal schedule. Consolidate the
information collected after the visit.
Problem Statement 4: Inexperience on advanced redstone.
Solution: Understand how redstone works using outside
research and implement the concept into the project
Learning Experience
Time Management
Throughout this project, we have faced 2 school examinations.
This caused our time on building to be decreased. To overcome
this issue, we planned ahead by creating a to-do list, setting
weekly goals to avoid distraction and rework.
Minecraft Redstone Engineering
Throughout this project, we have implemented the use of
redstone and command blocks to make it interactive. For
example, we have made an interactive book that lets the visitor
teleport to certain locations, making it easier to explore the vast
build. This took quite a lot of trial and error, but we gained
further knowledge on the concept of redstone.
Team Coordination
Working in a team can be chaotic, as everyone has different
opinions. Each team member was assigned to a specific role
based on their strength, while being open-minded to each
others' suggestions. Teamwork is the ability to work together
towards a common vision.

(E) Problem solving upon completing this
project
Throughout the preparation of project, the team members faced
the following problems that were solved accordingly.
1. Time constraint is the main problem faced. The project team Marine mammal
members had to juggle the time between hectic work, daily life
schedule and doing this challenging Minecraft project.

2. This is the first Minecraft project involving the world full of

creatures in the Inventory that can be selected to spawn, e.g.
there were no shark, whale, etc. Hence comparison could not be
made with sea creatures that are with big size. The nearest to be
chosen was the dolphin. Hence the builder tried to enlarge the
printscreen of the photo taken on dolphin to make comparison.
Moreover, the sea is too large to fill up the sea creatures to be
spawned as they all swam away quickly and rather difficult to
capture them for printscreen to do reporting.
Hence the builder had thought of an idea to spawn the sea
creatures (available on Inventory of Minecraft) inside the mini
pond built near the 'Leisure and Education' site (photo as
above).
(3) Technical know-how is another big problem to be solved.

Island started the regular service eith his four brothers and
forming a company named Beng Brothers. From 1924, the ferries
operated by the Penang Port Commision (formerly Penang

PPC to Prasarana Malaysia and rebranded as Rapid Ferry in 2017.
Unfortunately, Rapid Ferry ended service on 31 December 2020.

The Great Wall is the product of countless labors over a period
of 2,000 years, and is a feast of engineering. It also reflected the
collision and exchanges between the agricultural and nomadic
civilizations.
In the Yuan Dynasty (1272-1368), the Juyong Pass functioned as a
major traffic artery from Beijing to Inner Mongolia. Since Yuan
emperors often took this route between those places, temporary
imperial palaces, temples, and gardens were constructed.
9. The workers from ancient times left
marks on the bricks
Some say that the texts on the bricks is a method that General
Qi Jiguang devised in order to assess the quality of the bricks
made by the soldiers, and to clarify the responsibilities.
However, historians questioned this.

gave news. She departed to bring winter clothes to him but
heard that he had already died. She weeped so bitterly that part
of the wall collapsed.

Jiayu Pass is famous for being the first frontier fortress at the

Among the hundreds of passes of the Great Wall, Jiayu Pass is
