KATA PENGANTAR
Alhamdulillah saya panjatkan puja dan puji syukur kehadirat Allah swt yang senantiasa
melimpahkan segala rahmat, taufik dan hidayah-Nya sehingga penyusun dapat menyelesaikan
modul ini.
Modul ini disusun berdasarkan kurikulum 2013 yang lebih menempatkan siswa sebagai
student centered. Modul ini juga dilengkapi dengan latihan soal untuk menguji pemahaman siswa
terkait materi yang telah diajarkan untuk mengukur tingkat ketercapaian dan ketuntasan.
Penyusun menyadari bahwa di dalam pembuatan modul masih banyak kekurangan, untuk

Deskripsi
Pada Modul 1 ini Ananda akan mempelajari ungkapan terkait menyapa (greeting),
berpamitan (leave taking), mengucapkan terima kasih (thanking), dan meminta maaf
(apologizing). Pembelajaran Modul ini disajikan dalam bentuk percakapan. Ananda dapat
melihat daftar kata-kata sulit yang ada pada kolom vocabulary sebelum mengerjakan
tugas yang disedikan. Secara mandiri, Ananda dapat berlatih membacakan dialog-dialog
tersebut dan belajar untuk memahami isi dialog dengan menjawab beberapa pertanyaan
terkait fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan. Pada akhir kegiatan belajar,
Ananda dapat berkomunikasi baik secara tertulis maupun lisan serta menyimpulkan
ungkapan terkait menyapa (greeting), berpamitan (leave taking), mengucapkan
terimakasih (thanking), dan meminta maaf (apologizing).

Ungkapan Hi dan Hello, biasanya digunakan untuk mengungkapkan
sapaan antar teman sebaya, dan bisa digunakan dalam waktu kapanpun, bisa
pagi, siang, sore maupun malam.

yang dapat digunakan untuk menentukan waktu.
Good morning” from 00:01 up to 12 noon.
“Good afternoon” from 12:01 p.m. up to 6 p.m.
“Good evening” from 6:01 p.m. up to 9 p.m
“Good night” when you part company at night. For example, when you want
togo to bed, you say, “Good night, Mom, Dad. “ to your parents.

Ananda sudah menguasai beberapa ungkapan sapaan (greeting) dan
berpamitan (leave taking) bukan? Sekarang Ananda akan belajar teks dialog
terkait ucapan terimakasih (thanking) and permintaan maaf (apologizing).
Thanking adalah ungkapan bahasa Inggris untuk menyatakan terimakasih. Ada
beberapa situasi kapan dan mengapa Ananda mengucapkan terima kasih.
Sebagai contoh:
1. thank for a gift (hadiah),
2. thank for favor (kemurahan hati),
3. thank for an offer of help (bantuan),
4. thank for being asked for health (kondisi kesehatan),
5. thank for compliments (pujian), dan
6. thank for an invitation (undangan).
Sedangkan Apologizing adalah ungkapan dalam bahasa Inggris untuk menyatakan
permintaan maaf atas sesuatu hal yang tidak menyenangkan seperti rasasalah atau khilaf.
Apologizing juga dapat digunakan ketika kita ingin menyela pembicaraan untuk
mengulang kembali ucapan seseorang. Berikut beberapakegiatan yang berhubungan dengan

Salam sehat dan semangat Ananda MTs MU YAKIN. Dan jangan lupa kita selalu
berdoa dahulu sebelum memulai kegiatan pembelajaran, agar diberi kemudahan dan
kelancaran dalam memhami pelajaran bahasa Inggris pada modul ini.
Pada pertemuan pertama dalam modul ini, Ananda akan belajar tentang
identitas diri (identity). Identitas diri (identity), Ananda memperkenalkan diri meliputi
nama, usia, alamat dan lain sebagainya. Dalam memperkenal diri, Ananda juga diharapkan
bisa menyebutkan asal asli daerah Ananda dan teman-teman sekelas. Ayo Ananda

dan kapan kita harus menggunakannya? Nah, IN, On dan AT disebut preposition atau
kata depan untuk merangkaikan kata-kata atau bagian kalimat. Kali ini kita akan
