Introduction

Polymer clay is a special type of modeling clay, designed
to cure permanently when baked at low temperatures. It is
a clay that is easy for adults to use, with which they can
make simple craft projects; you can carve and bake at
home. Although it is called ‘clay’, polymer clay does not
actually contain minerals from it; Instead, it is made of
polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and a liquid plasticizer. In the
resulting project, we have agreed to make a pencil case
made of polymer clay. Basically it is a pencil case or
stationery storage that is placed on the table. However, to
make the project a multi function, we have made
improvements to the project.

3

Clay made
from PVC?

Polymer Clay is made from PVC, not HDPE or PET – which
are the types of plastics found in bottles and bags – and
are typically recycled for consumer use. PVC is also
gradually being removed from the consumer market which
makes it even harder to filter through the recycling stream
What is PVC?
PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride – the world’s third-most
widely produced synthetic plastic polymer. Roughly 40
million tons of this plastic are produced each year. PVC is
used widely in construction materials, medical equipment,
shrink wrap packaging, and rubber duckies.

Conclusion

In conclusion, polymer clay is used in a wide range of
crafts, including decorations, jewellery, tiny model
making, and even museum art. Polymer clay will open
many doors of exciting, but really simple crafts, to the
whole family. Furthermore, clay is a medium in which
anyone may express their creativity and make one-of-a-
kind items for themselves or to sell. In addition, clay
modelling is very simple for those with no prior
knowledge. Working with polymer clay can be difficult
for beginners, but it all relies on the level of
enthusiasm and the step-by-step choices and options
for working. Beginners should begin with a nice, clean,
and cool work surface. Crafting using polymer clay is
more than just a means of self-expression. As a
reprieve from our hectic routines, it might also benefit
our mental health.
