The word “Eclecticism“ in relation to Glenn Bracke and his work - it’s true that Glenn has a wide interest in various art forms. He is as much a film buff as he is a music fanatic, however he also loves, photography, sculpture and all kinds of performance art and exhibition.

Every artist is drawn to his own particular art form to channel his creativity. “I’m interested in all art forms” Glenn says. The difference with him is that he refuses to be pigeon-holed. Just because he paints, photographs or casts bronze today, this will not determine what he does tomorrow.
While many artists stick to painting canvas or sculpting stones, Glenn captures a diversity that reflects the way in which people choose to live today.
In the late 1990’s, Glenn began shooting photos at live concerts. Music is art and artistic imagery goes hand in hand with this. Strong photos of on-stage action add a level of complexity to the message musicians and performance artists convey to their audience. Glenn has a special eye for capturing a moment in time. “I see things others don’t necessarily notice straight away, I also am able to capture those unique moments.”

Expositions
One of the most successful, ambitious and ultimately successful project that has been presented to date is “Bones“ This project came about as a result of a freak accident. In May 2014, while showcasing his art at the Cannes Film Festival, Glenn fractured his left hand. As a result of this, on his return to Belgium he had to have his hand X - rayed.
This experience made Glenn later reflect on the fact that humans are made up of bones, he says “that’s all that’s left of us in the end - bones.”
While recovering from his injury, Glenn’s at- tention was drawn to human waste. His stu- dies into this made him focus on man-made ocean pollution. Probably, like many people, he was shocked to read that oceans con- tain as much as 7.25 million tons of waste. The Dutch aerospace engineering student, Boyan Slat at the university of Delft hit the headlines with a system he had devised to clean up all the ocean waste. It was claimed that with his technology all ocean pollution could be cleared in five years. These shoc- king facts and statistics led Glenn to think seriously about the enormity of this situati- on and as a result the “Bones“ project was born. Glenn worked hard for many months working on ideas, looking at ways in which his art could draw public attention to this human disaster.
“Bones“ was created as a touring public installation entitled “Ocean Life Plastic“. Housed in a transportable sea contai- ner, this amazing installation was seen by thousands of people internationally.
Five bronze skeletons “Ocean Cleaners“ as Glenn named them, appear on a sandy, seashell adorned beach scene, carrying items of human waste of all description.
By presenting “Bones“ to the world, Glenn Bracke once again has shown that his art observes the world and its issues.
