Tutorial Course Topics Reports
1. X-ray Basics – Full instruction of basic X-ray principles and safety precautions to be
observed while operating the system.
2. System Operation – Complete training on the core components and indicator lights that
comprise the system.
3. Image Controls – Broad instructions on image processing and zoom control features for
X-ray image interpretation to aid operator with x-ray image interpretation.
4. Advanced Features – Comprehensive guidelines and instructions on advanced image
processing, zoom features, image archiving and Threat Image Projection (TIP) image
response.
Simulation Course Usage
1. X-ray Interpretation Training – The extensive X-ray image library contains both fictional
threat and benign items that appear randomly. The fictional threat items include guns,
knives, explosives, sharp objects, and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). Operators
develop proficiency by advancing through three levels of di culty based on bag
complexity and orientation of the threat.
2. Adaptive Training - As operators work through practice sessions, a sophisticated
algorithm monitors and tracks executed actions and decisions for each image. Upon
completion of a practice session, the algorithm determines whether the operator correctly
responded to the exposed X-ray images. Based on that performance, subsequent practice
sessions are tailored to meet the specific training needs of the operator.
3. Ongoing X-ray Interpretation Practice – The extensive X-ray image library and adaptive
algorithm helps operators develop knowledge of a wide variety of look-a-like threats

systems. This interactive, self-paced program contains a tutorial course and
an X-ray system simulator. The 600 series dual view system displays a vertical
view of the contents as well as a horizontal view, eliminating the need to
rescan items. The representation of real-world threats is used to assist the
operator in understanding the importance of careful examination of every bag
and parcel. Both programs use our Adaptive Di culty Engine (ADE) to assess
an operator’s proficiency in core skill areas and then tailor exams to match
aptitude levels.

3. Ongoing X-ray Interpretation Practice – The extensive X-ray image library and adaptive
algorithm helps operators develop knowledge of a wide variety of look-a-like threats
under X-ray. Trainers can tailor sessions to focus on specific threats of concern for their
organization to continuously ensure the detection skills of operators.

IMAGE ARCHIVINGRAPISCAN
Rapiscan’s baggage and parcel inspection X-ray screening systems offer two types of
image archiving - advanced manual and automatic.
In both modes, the stored images can be retrieved at a later time for operator training,
improved operator efficiency verification or to review previously scanned images if
subsequent events make such a review necessary.
MANUAL IMAGE ARCHIVING FEATURES
Rapiscan Systems’ Manual Image Archive feature provides the ability for • Choice of manual or automatic archive
the operator to store the scanned image onto the system hard drive for • Enhanced and comprehensive archive management
retrieval and review at a later time. In this feature the operator manually • Image retrieval with image processing
selects and stores the image on the display screen via a single button • Image export via direct USB for viewing on PC
available on the operator control panel. Each image then can be named • Network shared folder for remote monitoring
with a full description, if desired. BENEFITS
• Continuous operator training
AUTOMATIC IMAGE ARCHIVING • Monitoring operator performance
Automatic Image Archiving, Auto-Archive, enables all the scanned images • Share and view images on standalone Windows based PC
to be stored onto the system hard drive “automatically” without operator
intervention. An OSI Systems Company
ONE COMPANY - TOTAL SECURITY
IMAGE RETRIEVE AND REVIEW
Retrieving archived images is easily accessible from user friendly GUI
on the main menu. In this menu two choices of either “Review Manual
Archives” or “Review Auto Archives” from the “Image Archives” submenu
is available via the X-ray system control panel touch pad. Choosing either
option opens the “Review Archives Viewer” and the “Filter Options”
window. In this window the operator can specify the images to be
retrieved by a variety of filter types. The most recent image will start to
scroll on screen with additional images following through on the operator
control panel. All available image enhancements functions (such as
Crystal Clear, Inverse, and Black and White) are available for application.
EXPORTING IMAGE
Archived images can be exported from the X-ray system onto an external
USB type drive. The type of file format can also be specified during export
either as Rapiscan proprietary format or as a standard bitmap (.bmp)
format or both. NOTE: If the image is in Rapiscan Systems proprietary file
format, it can only be viewed on a Rapiscan Systems X-ray system or a

Rapiscan MVXR5000 hold baggage X-ray screening system. This interactive, Unit Exam
self-paced program contains a tutorial course and an X-ray system simulator.
The representation of real-world threats is used to assist the operator in
understanding the importance of careful examination of every bag and
parcel. Both programs use our Adaptive Di culty Engine (ADE) to assess
an operator’s proficiency in core skill areas and then tailor exams to match
aptitude levels.

RAPISCAN MVXR5000 CBT
Tutorial Course Topics Simulation Course
3. Ongoing X-ray Interpretation Practice – The extensive X-ray image library and adaptive
algorithm helps operators develop knowledge of a wide variety of look-a-like threats
under X-ray. Trainers can tailor sessions to focus on specific threats of concern for their
organization to continuously ensure the detection skills of operators.
The Rapiscan MVXR5000 CBT provides a limited set of threat objects AND
CONCEALMENT TECHNIQUES, INTENDED TO assist OPERATORS in learning how to
operate the system, but not FOR BECOMING FULLY proficient IN THREAT OBJECT OR
CONCEALMENT TECHNIQUE DETECTION.
